The Brussels Sprout Chips were definitely worth ordering. My main dish was the pan fried sole - nicely cooked and seasoned. We had a very patient and courteous waitress. A very good restaurant to have a business dinner or group gathering.
Great location and interesting decor. Well-made cocktails and an extensive wine list. Lots of variety on the menu, including vegetarian options. Ample portions - so much so we didn't have room for dessert!
The wife and i will definitely be back. The place seemed a bit small for a big group but other than that great experience
Thank you!!!! We so enjoy going to The Vault. Everything we ordered was amazing and the service was outstanding.
Great food and service. Really enjoyed our evening.
The scallops were over cooked and the chipotle skirt steak had no chipotle flavor and was very grisly. After mentioning it to the server, he apologize and then came back and said that they would give us a dessert. We chose the key lime pie. Another disappointment! To top it off, when we got the bill, it indicated the dessert price was reversed for our birthday celebration (which I indicated when I made the Open Table reservation. However, the server didn’t acknowledge the celebration at all.
Very disappointed and won’t be going back
Food is great and service are good will recommend to our friends and the ambiance is nice
Pretty good, not special. Our table had a range of appetizers and entrees - steaks, fish, chicken. Everyone was fairly happy. The drinks were good, although the menu listed several things that were not available. Trying to find something they actually had was a guessing game.
A little loud, otherwise great.
Surly waiters made every decision seem like a chore: the happy hour discount is only for bar seating, and if you ask to move, you get a judgmental stare. If anything is inconvenient for the waiter, his face will let you know.
Server was amazing
Service was fabulous. Maurice was great. A little too noisy but fun!
Took a newbie to the restaurant, a favorite of ours already. He was very impressed, talking how it now will be his "go to" in San Mateo. Food and service was great as usual---tasty and plentiful; those brussel sprout chips are still to die for!; the birthday treat of Baked Alaska from the restaurant was a tasty show and super nice touch. Can't say enuf good things about the place. Oh, here's a corporate statement worthy of note: the employees stay a long time. Says good things about how they are treated by the owners/managers, and employees' good feelings are, of course, spread to the customers like us. Many thumbs up.
My dining companion had the salmon salad, which she enjoyed. I had the fish and chips which was pretty standard. Portions are large - neither of us finished the food on our plates. The restaurant is a little dark and parts of it seemed noisy. We were able to get a booth, which definitely made it quieter for us. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
My wife and I were in from out of town. The brussel sprout chips were to die for, and the cauliflower latkes were so delicious. Food was served quickly and was delightful. Do not miss for a great night out.
All the food and cocktails were very good except the chicken dish was just average because it lacked anything unusual, but my husband liked it, and he ordered it. The steaks looked fantastic. Can't wait to go back again. Baked Alaska was also very good. Our waiter in training was exceptional and needed no training in our opinion.
Definitely make reservations for Saturday night. Patient servers (since my meeting person was late ) but not dismissive . Much appreciated.
We (4 ladies) had a great birthday lunch here! One person was gluten-free, and they took that very seriously. They changed the ingredients of a dish so that it would comply with food allergies. The Brussels sprouts chips were the best Brussels sprouts I have ever had. The service was excellent. And, everyone liked her meal - we all had something different.
Friends and I went for lunch at Vault to support their yearly fund raiser for Autism. The food was delicious. We shared the fried calamari and Brussels sprout chips as appetizers, yummy. For our entrees we had pear salad, petrale sole, seared ahi tuna and Cesar salad with chicken. Everyone enjoyed their meal and was happy with the service. The Baked Alaska we shared for dessert did not disappoint. We all would highly recommend Vault 164 for a pleasant and fulfilling dining experience.
Mixed bag experience this time since I expected more for the price. Came here to celebrate husband’s birthday. Even though we had a reservation, we got seated in a place where we could literally hear every conversation that’s going on around us. The ceiling was low and sounds around us were so loud. Not romantic at all.
Service: slow at the start but servers were friendly & attentive.
Food: the appetizers of crab and artichoke dip and bacon wrapped dates we’re delicious. For entre, I got a sole while my husband got the pork chop. However, my husband’s pork chop was 1)charred on the outside and 2) raw in the middle... he didn’t want me to make a big deal out of it but it’s simply unacceptable that he was served raw pork.
We were hoping to have a lovely dinner, but it was hard for me to overlook the rookie mistake.
Great menu, excellent food ,greatervice. ambiance good too
Food was not as great. I never use A1 sauce on any steak, however with their grilled flat iron, it needed to be drenched it that. Grilled veggies were soggy. Tasted like it came out of a bag. Fried calamari was under fried. So disappointing.
I made this reservations for my parents and they did not enjoy their experience. This was for their wedding anniversary. I had a great experience when I went and thought they would as well. Unfortunately they felt the vegetables were bland and the corn chowder didn’t taste like corn. The salmon in it overwhelmed the taste so they were disappointed. They also felt the environment was too load for the romantic evening they were hoping for.
We went to Vault for my sons birthday dinner. Rosalee our server was amazing, funny, nice and fast. What great service. We loved the Brussels sprouts, the tuna stack and the baked Alaska desert. We will be back again.
Another enjoyable meal at the Vault. Love the Cobb salad with grilled skirt steak. Prices are getting steeper. $23 for mushroom risotto seems high to me for a dish without meat.
All our group of foodies had a great meal here. Beautiful building in nice location with close parking. Good meat and seafood options. High marks for food, selection and service. Drink was very strong. High energy, loud and busy which we liked.
This place is a true gem in the south San Francisco area. Food is always good. The servers are personable and are determined to make each visit memorable. We’ve tried other places whenever we’re near the SF Airport, but this place never disappoints.
Awesome service and food was fantastic! Will definitely go back !
Celebrated our 45th wedding anniversary...the waitress was especially wonderful, the food was delicious and the ambiance was fun...good place...parking was difficult...
Very good food at reasonable prices. Our waitress couldn't have been more accommodating or welcoming. She made us feel like a valued guest.
Wonderful dinner at a great restaurant! Our waitress, Rosalie was very pleasant and helpful, the food was excellent and the ambience was relaxed but classy!
Very friendly and delicious food. Loved the greeter and wait person. Will return soon
First time visit... I would definitely return. I used Yelp to locate since I live in the East Bay and was meeting up with a friend that was traveling down from Seattle and staying close to SFO.
We had the following:
We had... and I can not recall the name... however, it had a nice zing and was delicious! It was a Tequila based drink with Jalapeño peppers and other tasty ingredients. Definitely would recommend to someone that likes some "flavor" in their drink.
Brussel Sprout Chips - Delicious and plenty to share between the two of us.
Poached Pear Salad - Another delicious item and shared. The restaurant split the plates for us as an added convenience.
7 Sesame Seed Crusted Ahi Tuna - My friend said it was delicious. Although, for some reason he thought it might be warmer. However, they enjoyed it very much as prepared.
Vault Roasted Chicken - Very tasty!
Key Lime Brûlée - Seemed a bit heavy... It had a good flavor however, just a bite was plenty.
Apple Tart - Delicious! I usually only have a few bites of each dessert and we did share... all that was left was a few crumbs and a little residue from the Vanilla Ice Cream. I little extra time at the gym made it all worth it!
Easter Sunday dinner
I've eaten before for lunch and enjoyed it, but on this visit the service was nice but very slow (we were ignored/forgotten) and the food wasn't great -- overly salty soup, overly small salad. One benefit is that it's quiet, so easy to hear what your meal-mates have to say.
Ordered fish and chips. Most unappealing presentation. Fish was fried a light tan color and plate was loaded with 2 huge fish filets, pale french fries. and a large dish of brussel spout slaw. Fish had no flavor and had been overcooked.
However, the Baked Alaska dessert was fabulous! Next time, I'd order just that and a glass of wine.
Food was really good. The brussel sprouts chips were amazing. Loved the pork belly. And the skirt steak was cooked to perfection. Staff was super friendly. Would def come back again. :)
Extensive gluten free menu!
They even have a dedicated fryer!
Excellent service and food was delicious. We celebrated our wedding anniversary, and we had a wonderful time.
