What Insiders Are Saying
An Upper East Side French restaurant from Michael White with very good food. It's fancy, without being too formal.
Vaucluse never ceases to delight. At first I had a moment of envy as my friends dug into the lobster salad but one taste of the cod dispelled any such thoughts. Every dish is perfection every visit.
The staff is wonderful and the food is even greater. Would 200% recommend the rabbit ravioli.
Outstanding food and service! We were celebrating our birthdays and the staff at Vaucluse made sure it was an experience to remember
Love Vaucluse! One of the few really nice places to sit while eating! quiet, tables spaced well, food delicious and they even have black napkins!
I am very happy here especially if I can be in a corner!
Special space, incredibly elegant, with wonderful food, great wine list makes for a special evening.
I loved everything at Vaucluse. I've had lunch twice with friends but this was my first dinner (and with my partner who is far more critical than I). He loved it too. From the crab appetizer (yum) to the epaulettes (wow) to the delicate but delicious trout to the amazing tarte tatin (I am almost always disappointed by the tarte tatin but not this time--fantastic in every way) we hummed our way through dinner. Our charming, helpful server gave exactly the right suggestions (how did she know?) and we enjoyed every minute of our experience. Can't wait to return!
The crab salad was delicious, and we both had it, and my husband had the lamb chops while I enjoyed the white label burger. Everything was delicious. My husband had the chocolate desert. Fantastic.
Outstanding food and service
Everything was perfect and we loved our meal!!
We had a superb experience at Vaucluse. Though, as advertised, this was "Bistro" French food, it was certainly not ordinary, just really excellent renditions of classic French appetizers and main dishes (lamb, fish) with savory sauces and a delicious chocolate dessert. The chef is young, and we congratulated him.
Very nice. And we liked the service
Special service !! Congratulations
Great tasting menu with wine pairings. Sommelier did a fabulous job pairing food. Highly recommend.
This brunch was excellent in quality and presentation. The service was excellent and friendly. The ambience of the dining room is first rate.
Once again had a delicious meal. Recommend the prix fixe. The service was really wonderful, especially Louisa.
I enjoy this wonderful restaurant on a regular basis and what is most impressive is its ability to consistently deliver such a terrific dining experience. Everyone is heads up and friendly without being in your face. I never seem to wait for food, a drink or a plate to be cleared. The menu is diverse and reasonably creative without being pretentious and the chef is top notch. A recent crab salad was just superb! Oh and there is room to have a private conversation without yelling at your guest....Don't miss this gift to NY.
A consistently excellent restaurant in every respect -- food quality, service, and ambiance. It's not cheap, though.
I had dinner at Vaucluse with my parents post museum visit and we enjoyed our experience. The food and service were high level-waiters were attentive but not oppressive.
The four course prix fixe was generous and offered value-the octopus starter was tender and crunchy, the risotto al dente and the branzino was perfectly cooked- finished the meal with a fabulous chocolate soufflé, recommended by our waiter.
If you find yourself in the upper east side area, I definitely recommend Vaucluse-the dining room was beautifully laid out, through the acoustics made it a little difficult for conversation-for some reason...
Otherwise, a lovely experience on Park Avenue. Highly recommend.
Food was overall quite good with maybe one or two dishes just a tad underseasoned. Pastas were excellent, as is typical of Michael White! Service, however, was quite slow, and it was not a busy night. This is not the first time we’ve had issues with slow service at Vaucluse.
Had the Valentine’s Day menu and it was very good, but not as good as their every day dinner menu in my opinion.
We took advantage of Restaurant Week to return to Vaucluse. Such a fantastic all around dining experience. The room is modern, warm, and plush and the quiet of the room--even with plenty of other diners--is heavenly. The service is friendly, attentive, and professional without overdoing it. The food is the best of all. Vaucluse proposed an inventive, varied, and taste-rich menu for the special. My husband's cassoulet was a perfect winter dish. Cassoulet is often so copious you can't move, but this portion was just perfect. Likewise, my branzino with winter veggies. The recommended wine pairings (red and white) were carefully chosen and value-priced. And the desserts were outstanding--two very different creations invented for the special menu. The attention, the details, and the mix of flavors (one item was chocolate based; the other fruit) were of the highest level.
We will look forward to the pleasures of dining at Vaucluse again.
We came for Restaurant Week and we’ll be back! Service is first rate. Food is delicious.
We had a fantastic lunch here after a couple Fashion Week events earlier in the day. Our lunch was after 2:00 PM, so the restaurant was quiet--thankfully. Every item we ordered on the menu was fantastic. Since we live in the tri-state area, we will be going back. My husband had the Dover Sole which was plentiful. Ditto on the foie gras, which he started with. I had a salad and the steak frites. If there was something that could have been improved a bit, the frites were a bit soggy rather than crisp. Advice I would give someone if you're ordering a cocktail that you'd like to savor before eating, let them know. Bar service was very slow and my martini came about 2 minutes before our first course, so I only had a couple sips. By contrast, since I didn't have time to have a martini, I ordered wine and that came right away. I'm guessing they didn't have a regular bartender on staff. Just something to keep in mind.
Simply utterly delicious.
Lovely atmosphere, but portions were so small compared to the regular menu
Best part of meal was the desert
I am very rarely hungry when I leave a restaurant, but this time I was.
I think there are better values at other establishments during restaurant week
A fan of Vaucluse since it opened, there Restaurant Week menu is about as good as it gets.Fair number of choices, very decent wine by the glass at fair prices and generally inspired dishes with friendly service add up to a satisfying meal. After a surprisingly dull cauliflower veloute, I had a sensational, deconstructed cassoulet, with incredibly tender, tasty short ribs, superb sausage, pork belly and beans. Especially since it was so good, one could lament the small portion. Chocolate dessert was quite good.
last visit was a great improvement from the previous one. Although the portions were still small in the main course. The Kale salad did not have a flavor, kind of bland. Service was excellent.
Greatest bread bakery ever
Outstanding food and service, beautiful atmosphere. Highly recommend.
The food feels manufactured and has no soul in it. No smile from the waiter at all and didn’t feel welcomed except maybe from the usher in the front.
5 star all the way!
Delicious, refined offerings, attentive service, lovely ambiance, especially for a quiet, later lunch. I would highly recommend!
Everything was wonderful. Went with 2 friends who had never been before. They loved it as much as I.
We had a delicious lunch and look forward to returning. I love that the sound level is old-school, very easy to hear your companions.
This was a very disappointing experience. I know this is an UES restaurant and most people will not care much about how much they pay but this place is pushing the envelope. We were with 3 people and all main dishes, two of us had fish and one the lamb, were below par. Tasteless or too much salt and minuscule portion wise. This was beyond reprehensible for the price we needed to pay. It has to be said that the service was impeccable so I don't blame anyone working there for the experience we had. I will never come back here and I can't recommend it to anyone. As said, most patrons probably won't be bothered but this is something that needs to be said.
A friend & I celebrated her birthday with a Restaurant Week lunch which was a wonderful value. They even offered wine at the price of $9 per glass, almost unheard of in NYC. Since the main dining room was full, we had to sit in another room which was a bit less festive. Will probably return even after the special is no longer available.
Outstanding Restaurant Week menu. Recommend especially salmon tartare, spaghetti and chocolate dessert. Delicious bread and coffee. Special prices for wines, cocktails and non-alcoholic drinks! Superb service from beginning to end. Finley was amazing.
Elegant atmosphere, food is very good but my favorite is the chocolate soufflé. Would be great if they would make it larger in size for the price.
Great food and service Looking forward t my next visit
