What Insiders Are Saying
An Upper East Side French restaurant from Michael White with very good food. It's fancy, without being too formal.
Our waitress was awful and spoiled our evening. She was cold, detached, never returned to our table to check if we were happy with the food, and I had to ask the busboy for a second glass of wine. Meanwhile, she spent most of her time talking to customers in certain tables that we assumed to be regular clients. We felt like we were not welcome in the place. We will never return and we do not recommend this restaurant.
Experience was very good
The only problem in this restaurante is that they serve cold expressos !!!
The restaurant's decor is very tasteful and classy. The other patrons were also classy. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The place also isn't very loud which I really appreciated. I like the fact they have a prix fixe menu for those who are on a budget.
We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. This is a fine restaurant with outstanding service and great food in beautiful surroundings. Every time we dine here makes it seem like a special occasion.
Excellent service and ambiance. The cuisine was superb. We look forward to dining there again.
Excellent food, very much in line with the restaurant’s name.
Christmas Day Dinner is always a challenge. First, there is finding a place that is ooen. Then there is the risk that food and service quality may suffer from the extra holiday stress. No such worries at Vaucluse!!! The prix fixe menu was varied and interesting, my server Max was knowledgable, professional and attentive, the food was divine and the atmosphere elegant and welcoming--not stuffy. In short, Vaucluse was a perfect experience and I happily recommend Vaucluse for all of your special occasions! Or even just for Thursday supper...
It was Christmas Eve and the 4 th time going to Vacluse. We picked it because we had such great experiences the last times we were there.
The waiter got everything wrong brought the wrong wine wrong entree wrong appetizers and we had to get the manager involved it was a terrible experience and ruined our Christmas !!! They took a lot off of the bill, however it was not about the money which I explained to the manager it was that the entire evening was a mess and unpleasant and you can’t change that with taking things off of the bill. Very unfortunate but we will never go back !!!!!!
Beautiful room , service is trying to be perfect and mostly succeeds. Menu is classic French and is mostly superb. My first course of octopus was a little rustic for the rarefied restaurant and needed a sharper knife but everything else was lovely
Great French food in nice atmosphere and not rediculously priced
I took someone to lunch at Vaucluse. Because of MYC traffic he was 40 minutes late. The management could not have been nicer. The food was good. There are good wines by the glass, some of which are reasonably priced. The tables are far enough apart so that one does not hear everyone else’s conversation. And the noise level is good, due to carpets and table cloths.
Great greeting, beautiful ambiance and delicious food poorly served by too many chatty untrained servers. Pushing guests to order asap is never appropriate, nonetheless on a restaurant of this caliber. Otherwise, it is a lovely place for a special occasion. We walked over to Omar’s Bar and truly enjoyed ourselves with inimitable service, not as good food and live music. Great UES venue!
Outstanding food, service, and atmosphere. Great experience.
It was delicious the only thing lacking was an amouse bouche !
Food was excellently prepared, but a little stingy with the portions for the price. Halibut was outstanding. I would return for a special occasion vs everyday dining.
It was good and i enjoyed. Very nice services!
I will give 4stars out of 5!
I came one year ago during restaurant week and the service was really better than my second experience. It was really not a busy lunch but we had no explication for the food, they brought us the wrong wine. We were waiting for our desert and two guys started some constructions just next to us so one of the waiter asked us if we want to move to the bar ... By the way, the food was really excellent !
The dining room was woefully understaffed. Our waiter was surprisingly courteous considering he was covering the entire room causing our party extremely slow service. More annoying , when we mentioned this to management they had an inane reply about having 5 large reservations.
However, food was great and the setting extraordinarily pleasant.
One of the "beautiful rooms" to dine in New York City. The food is rich, and so too are the clientele. If you are a snob (food or otherwise), this place is for you. But if you are not, yet able to afford it, Vaucluse is also for you. The service was sincere and did not seem to judge. The extensive wine list had value, sitting along astronomically priced bottles. The food was elegant and handsomely plated. And while the table linens were starched and crisp, the ambiance was soft and comfortable.
Sometimes dining in elegance can be fun. If you know you're going to pay for the luxury, why not?
Always the best
Amazing place at Park Avenue
very tasty and expensive food
A bit stuffier than they purport to be. This time of year you will feel under dressed without a jacket. The food was excellently executed and the service is excellent. Price is consistent with location but very expensive for traditional french haute cuisine.
A good experience was ruined by inattentive service. Wait staff constantly kicked my chair when passing. Courses were served from the right for the server's convenience. It could have been a better experience.
Overpriced place, waitress was not professional and communicative. Disappointing experience.
Like many New York restaurants, seating at Vaucluse is intimate--no so much with your dinner companion, but with the diners at the adjacent tables. You hear almost as much of their conversations as you do of your own. Of course, hearing a conversation is something of a stretch since the walls, ceiling and floors are all hard surfaces. The main course and dessert were excellent, but the undressed salad was left uneaten. Service was competent but not great.
Because We eat at this restaurant so often with my husband and friend I hardly ever write a review. But I must say that one of the things that I love about this place is when they pour the wine or champagne they bring the bottle to the table. So you know exactly what you’re getting. I don’t even order wine in any restaurant that does not bring the bottle to the table because I do not know what on earth I am getting. This place is the best. The food is great the wine is great the service is great and it is just the most beautiful wonderful experience. And that is why we eat here at least once A week when we are in New York city.
Anniversary of friends
Overall including ambiance and service and so on is very good but food taste is average.
this restaurant is good for the people who like American mood but not good for foodies.
Delicious food and a beautiful quiet dining with excellent service. Tables not on top of eachother
We were thrilled to find a restaurant that is both hip and quietly refined...... Modern and elegant .
Not inexpensive, but reasonable by NYC standards. Everything is very nicely done even if not every dish is superb (some are). Wine list is good too and varied with some interesting uncommon choices. Dependably much more than pleasant.
I love my wife
Great in every way. I had the duck entree, which was the best I've had. Drinks on the expensive side even for such an upscale place, but otherwise, prices are what you'd expect. I'll be back for special occasions.
