Vaso's Mediterranean Bistro
Vaso's Mediterranean Bistro is open for lunch and dinner every day. You can also reserve the second floor for parties and special events or ask about catering an event you're holding elsewhere.
Food was excellent, good portions and nice ambiance.
Excellent Sunday evening dinner........wonderful shrimp & pasta, as well as a great variety of appetizers. Wish there was a Vaso's around Saratoga Springs!
Quality of food served for Sunday brunch was very good. Because the restaurant is small and narrow in configuration, a large table of guests can impact the noise level. Experience on Sunday, Feb. 23, exemplifies this comment. A large group in first dining area was loud; we would return another time and hope the same group was not present.
The food was amazing especially the tiramisu. It was pretty busy but the noise level never got too bad, service suffered a little from bring so busy but it was worth the wait.
Had a great dinner with Greek and Italian specialties for a business group of 7. Delicious meal, great service, nice wine selection. Had to wait a bit for our table, but it was worth it!
We spent Valentine's dinner there. It was a good menu and big portions. Delicious
This was our first time at the restaurant. Very good service, and a well-developed prix fix menu for Valentines Day. The meal was quite good, with only a couple minor missteps. The lobster ravioli was a little too al dente—a bit chewy. And the octopus was a bit mealy. The lamb was cooked perfectly, and the Avgolemono was some of the best we have had. The baklava was truly fantastic. We would go back in a heartbeat. 😉
Vasos never disappoints. Wonderful, delicious lunch with a friend. Always great service.
Awesome brunch!!! Been here three times and always great. Service, atmosphere and food! I ordered the french toast with sausage and eggs, very tasty and good sized portion.
The food here was so amazing! All dishes we ordered were cooked to perfection. We ordered the spaghetti marinara, lamb kapama, the special of the evening whole cooked branzino, and the moussaka. We all ate every bite of our dishes. We dined here on Saturday evening during prime rush hour. Although we had to wait a significant amount of time for the food, the taste was well worth the wait. I was especially impressed by the spaghetti marinara. Although this seems like a simple dish that probably wouldn't be that great, it was so rich in flavor!!
It was my fiancé’s birthday! It was great.
Vaso's was formerly my favorite place to eat in Old Town -- we would eat there at least once a week. Now, the service is poor, entrees are so-so, and salads are a thing of the past. It's a shame to see this staple headed by the wayside like so others in Old Town.
We had a reservation; seated quickly without menus; menus 10-15 minutes later and order taken by host @ 25-30 minutes; waitress (who had served the table to our left with her back to us BUT did not even acknowledge us) doesn’t come to our table for nearly 40 minutes apologizing they were busy. Food was very good (flounder) but too loud and poor service nearly ruined evening
Food was delicious. Small space which is expected in Old Town but noise/ambiance not ideal. Attentive management, server was good but not great. Still definitely worth a visit!
We went for restaurant week. The food was very good, the portions small. Our server told us he recommended ordering off the regular menu to get an actual "flavor" of the restaurant. We wanted to see the special menu for restaurant week. He was reluctant which was strange but did produce it. That is the menu we ordered from. It was difficult to read the menu because the only light was a small candle on the table. The restaurant is narrow so tables small and constant traffic going by your table. I would go back to try something off the menu but not a first choice in venues.
The server was fantastic. We felt really welcomed and informed.
the Vasos team delivered amazing food and service as always. It’s been a favorite spot of mine for brunch and dinner for many years now. Best chicken piccata I’ve ever had; I love the addition of the artichoke hearts which is different from how I’ve had it growing up in an Italian family. Not only is the food great, but it’s always served with a genuine, friendly smile. Thanks again for the amazing experience!
What a beautiful restaurant with amazing people and food! I met VASO and the family and they were so welcoming and so sweet! I definitely need to make a trip back to Greece soon! We had brunch and the unlimited mimosas were perfect! The hospitality was top notch! You didn’t have to ask for water or mimosa refills they showed right up as soon as you were low. They smiled and was so polite I was used to such beautiful service! We will definitely be coming back for sure! Thank you for such a beautiful experience!
This is a wonderful place. Food is fresh and service was absolutely wonderful. Everyone working there was so helpful and attentive but not overbearing.
Wonderful birthday lunch with old friends. Brunch food was absolutely delicious. The ONLY downside to the meal was the noise level at times. It’s a small restaurant and a nearby group was boisterous but it was fine. Just had to talk louder!
Yummy food - generous portions - friendly and professional service. Really loved the clam marinara pasta. House red chianti is nice too.
Loved it! Very happy birthday celebration. Unfortunately, there was a family with three under six years old, children across from us and the youngest was not having a good night. Also, things got very busy and we didn’t receive the best service. Otherwise the food and servers were lovely. Definitely will recommend Vaso’s to everyone.
Hostess and servers were attentive and friendly. Food was served in a timely manor and our meals were delicious. We had lunch there but I look forward to returning for a dinner
I had a lovely evening with my work friends. It was relaxing and our server was fabulous.
We chose a “quiet” table in the back hallway - which was a mistake. Waiters, rushing by to get to and from the kitchen, kept bumping into us. The food was very well prepared, but very pricey. However the wine list was veryreasonable. I would definitely go back, but would choose a table in the front of the restaurant.
Ordered the veal chop...didn't have it. Ordered a nice bottle of wine...didn't have it. Ordered a nice meal of expectations...didn't have it. Owner/manager(s) made sure the bar did not levitate by ensuring that his elbows held down the bar and the other guy was on his phone for 35 minutes reading his phone making sure the wall stayed vertical by oh so unprofessionally leaning against it. These two made sure the waitress was left hanging when we asked to .... we'll, I feel bad that the two bosses made her and the 'diner' as a whole to my dinner party look terrible. The other location is a much more congenial and friendly operation. With as many opportunities to dine in Alexandria as there are, this place is definitely one to skip and walk right on past. SAD
Food was excellent. Only issue we had is that the host seemed shocked to see us, despite having made reservations. They put us at a four top with a table on the end, rather than an appropriately sized table. The welcome was disappointing, the food was not.
Exceptional service, every detail of your dining experience is given attention and that same climate of attention to detail carries over to in the food quality. Exceptional experience!
The only thing that was a bit frustrating is that the website isn’t particularly clear about how it works - you’re not “supposed to” / not recommended to get individual tapas orders instead of the whole tasting menu but it doesn’t really explain that very well and we got a bit of sass when we said that’s what we preferred to do 🤷♀️
A large party of 14 or so on Saturday for lunch (too big for the Vaso’s space and kitchen) spoiled the dining experience. Service was slow because the kitchen was backed up. The gyro meat looked like the bottom of a man’s shoe. Avoid it. The chicken on the salad was OK. Been there several times before but it seems to have declined. Our last visit.
