I visited Vaso during a private event touring local eateries when the area first opened as part of Business After Hours. The atmosphere and unique food offerings brought us back. This time we rented an igloo on the rooftop bar for a family dinner. The setting was so unique and the service amazing even though our tall waiter had to keep ducking in and out of the igloo opening. We ordered a variety of tapas and drinks and were not disappointed with one item!
Vaso is a wonderful place! They understand what it takes to provide good service and continue to shine as a local intimate hot spot with a wonderful view of the sunset skyline over Dublin and the Scioto River. Good food, good music, welcoming and comfortable. Love this place!
This review documents a unique situation, but Vaso Staff really left a lot to be desired.
My wife and I reserved Vaso through OpenTable for dinner on Christmas Evening. We like to go out after all the family celebrations are done. Our reservation was for 8:00 PM. We arrived, stepped off the elevator, and walked up to the hostess desk. We said we had an 8:00 reservation and the hostess said; if we wanted something, to order it quickly because she wanted to let the staff leave at 9:00 PM.
We sat at the bar to speed things up, and the bartender started our conversation with, "The hostess has already made the "last call" for drinks. After a short discussion we were able to get her to take a drink order and decided to get a bottle of Chardonnay to avoid any further concern from the bar staff.
Based on the above, we only ordered two appetizers - empanadas and calamari (both of which were very good) to be sure to be done before the 9:00 PM witching hour.
Normally Vaso is open until 1 AM Monday - Thursday. My wife and I completely understand that the restaurant may close early on Christmas, but if they accept an 8 PM reservation, they should not say we need to order quickly because they are closing soon when we arrive, and greet us at the bar with "We've already made last call".
I was disappointed that a specialty cocktail lounge could not make a brandy Alexander or a grasshopper on Christmas when some might want to try something different. When finally settling for a bourbon and soda, it took about 10 more minutes to get that drink. After that was finally accomplished, the service was better. The food was good, and the ambiance was very nice. Will visit again when the weather permits outdoor seating.
Made a reservation for Christmas eve. Restaurant called me 2 days prior stating that they decided to close early and needed to either have us come in earlier or cancel my reservation. We agreed to an earlier time and then the restaurant called me 2 hours before the reservation to inform me that the kitchen was closing at the time of our reservation. Very disappointed.
We went with our family for Christmas Eve and it was great!
Poor service issues on Christmas Eve has soured us on one of our preferred spots in town. The fabulous view can't compensate for a surly waitress, no table service which had not been explained when we made the reservation and menu items that are already becoming old.
We got married in one of your igloos!!! Our server Kaitlin was awesome as usual!!! Thanks for everything to make our night special!
Somewhat pricey drinks. Great view. Recommend the almonds and toasted peas snack with drinks. Cool bar.
Awful service and food
Really fun. Great place to hang out with friends
Had a drink at bar before dinner. Bartender not very attentive. Very loud atmosphere Service at dinner from Lauren was outstanding. Charcuterie tapa, fried ham and cheese not good. Other tapas were good but not enough to come back.
Beautiful setting and view. Very cold inside. Slow service. Mediocre food for the price. My husband and I shared the paella and both of us became violently ill shortly after.
The menu is comprised of appetizers and small dishes so you need to order several to complete a meal.
Awesome birthday celebration for my S/O!! Atmosphere was great, food was deleicious. Great service, very friendly and views are awesome at night. We could see all the Christmas lights in nearby Dublin neighborhoods. Will definitely be visiting again; probably for New Years !!
The food, drinks, and view were wonderful. I wish the service was faster and that outdoor seating was better prepared, but, overall, it's a wonderful restaurant. I enjoy the experience (and rooftop patio) better in the Summer than Winter for obvious reasons.
The atmosphere and the live music was great the food was overpriced and not good at all and we tried for dishes. The service was not good at all either
Once you get past the weird seating, this is a really great place. Loved the food, absolutely delicious. Beautiful view, nice atmosphere and great service! Definitely plan to return.
Wonderful! Great wait staff cool atmosphere and awesome
Vaso easily jumped to one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus when I took my wife there for her birthday. They have one of the best views and possibly the best ambiance in the city. Most importantly, the food is amazing; we loved every single dish we ordered but I highly recommend the shrimp. The cocktails are great as well. Five stars from me!
The atmosphere is really cool, has a nice view. The seating was just odd and uncomfortable. I’m 6’4 and 250# and really couldn’t lean back or sit comfortably in the chairs. Food was great but a little over priced for the portions. Service could’ve been better...was waiting for quite some time for drink refills, actually had to go the bar and ask. Food came out appropriately timed so that was nice. However, the tables are very tiny and for a tapas restaurant I found that odd. Overall, definitely a good experience but I think that IF I went back, it would just be to sit at the bar. I didn’t get any mixed drinks as I’m a bourbon guy (good selection btw) but the mixed drinks they had there were really unique and looked amazing.
First time visitor to VASO and it lived up to the positive reviews that I'd heard from friends and co-workers. I had only heard one negative sentiment about the size of platter but there are options for large meals and I left full and happy.
The drinks and ambiance were were great and we will definitely come for dinner again. I can't wait to try the brunch.
We loved our experience and meal at Vaso! Each of the 5 tapas we ordered were unique and delicious and the portions were generous. The live music was great as well!
The food was excellent from beginning to end. Our favorites were the potatoes, fried ham and cheese, the Cuban, ceviche, and the lamb meatballs. All the desserts were delicious, especially the espresso flan and ginger bread cake with ice cream. For a restaurant, dining experience, the music was too loud. We felt like we were in a dance club, trying to talk over dinner. The speakers were even super loud outside, ruining the beautiful view. If I go back, I’d prefer to sit in the bar area and just have an app and drinks, or just drinks and dessert. It would be great people watching, and the noise level would seem more appropriate.
Love this place! I’ll definitely be going back. And I’ll highly recommending this place.
Great atmosphere and food is mostly good but limited menu and I’m not a fan of the changes they recently made to it.
Menu of tapas and small plates only - no entrees - was a surprise. But 2 small plates (pork and beef dishes) and 1 tapas (green beans) was a satisfying and delicious meal for two. Desserts (chocolate lava cake, toffee and date cake) were very good. Glass of sweet vermouth was an unexpected find but was the highlight for me. Saturday night dinner had the vibe of a disco club though: live DJ spinning oom-cha oom-cha and tiny high-up seats like bird perches. Fun atmosphere but not good for romance. Excellent but slow service.
It was great as always. The new vegetarian options were exquisite. Our server was awesome and friendly.
Very impressive as well as delicious! Great view even in the rain
Would be better when patio is open for the views. Great service, food is good, prices are $$$
The service was subpar for the restaurant not being very busy. They did not explain the menu and how the food is usually shared. We waited 15 minutes for our drinks.
Will return but hope that service on a slow night is improved.
Always a pleasure to meet friends at Vaso. Beautiful room and fabulous view. Menu is varied with many choices, drinks are interesting and well made. Easy, secure and free parking makes Vaso a much better option that short north or downtown. Plus honestly, the west view over the river at sunset can't be duplicated downtown.
Worst experience ever
12/10 would recommend
Good food. Small meals. Ended up ordering more food after finishing the first two.
The view overlooking the surrounding area is beautiful, the service was terrific, and the small plates were very creative and delicious. (We highly recommend the scallop ceviche!) We were slightly disappointed in the paella and we'll go again, but not on an OSU football Saturday. It became OSU campus south.
We love this great restaurant. Food is great and the servers are amazing!
Atmosphere was wonderful. Staff however seemed disengaged. They did not explain the menu or specials. Was not aware that frozen drinks were out. Overall nice experience
We enjoyed a beautiful evening on the rooftop, snacking on shrimp and churros! My husband likes the Gin and Tonic, while I prefer the La Paloma. The service was impeccable and the food delicious. A beautiful view of the city added to the relaxing atmosphere.
