Be sure to ask questions about their menu specials. You may end up paying the same rate as a roll for something decribed as a roll yet only receive one peice your unable to share with everyone. Wouldve gladly paid our $173 tab elsewhere without feeling like i was jipped. I wish the server was more informative and didnt forget my drink. Had to remind her half way into our appetizers.

Loved Vana! Sushi was really fresh. Great California rolls. The outdoor under the tree setting very Maui. Service was good and prompt but it took awhile for someone to start serving us. One criticism, the automatic tipping breakdown on the check puts the percentage of tip on the total including the sales tax. Tip should be calculated on the cost of the food only. I recommend you put a custom tip on. Also I think recommended tips percentge should include 15% also, as in the past. We always tip 20% but on food, not sales tax and food.

Let me begin by being clear...the food was amazing and excellent! However, the waitress was rude and we felt rushed and unwelcomed. Insult to injury was they were out of ALL beers except for 2. We were technically 6 human beings at the table but I specifically made a reservation for 5 because my youngest doesn't eat. She did not order any food. When we received the bill, the waitress hit us with an automatic 20% gratuity for parties of 6. At the very least this should have been disclosed to us. Sensing we were frustrated with her, she must have hit us with the 20% knowing we weren't going to give it (she didn't deserve it). Very uncool policy. She may have gotten the tip. But the restaurant gets my frustrated review.

From the first steps inside, it was magical! We felt like we were eating in a tree house, an elegant tree house to be more specific! The ambiance was amazing, the staff was kind and efficient. The bartender actually stepped out to come take our drink orders when he could see the servers were a bit overwhelmed. He recommended a “mocktail” for my daughter and she was hooked! The food was amazing, don’t miss the Vana Citrus Roll- unlike anything I’ve ever eaten and to die for! If you missed making reservations at Mama’s four months in advance, try Vana instead! They are happy to take day of reservations and will treat you like kings and queens!

SPECTACULAR!!! From the hostess, to the waitstaff/bar staff to management, the sushi chef and the musician! We cannot say enough about this restaurant. We started with gyoza, some nigiri (otoro and salmon) and 2 recommended cocktails. Then we ordered the omakase and the steak with a larger bottle of unfiltered sake (our favorite). Every bite was better than the last. We were in heaven. It's expensive but isn't everything in Maui? We splurged and it was worth every penny. We're even considering going back for more tonight. I let them know it was our anniversary when I booked through open table and the hostess greeted us by saying happy anniversary! The music and atmosphere was Devine. I’d give 6 stars if I could. Thanks to everyone who makes this place run. We can't wait to come back (again, possibly tonight) and recommend to everyone we know. Don't go anywhere. You're perfect

The Is place IS the VIBE! From the amazing chefs whipping up the best cuts, to Teddy the Bar Manager concocting some crazy Mezcal drinks. Michael, the front of house Manager was so warm and welcoming. You need to go here! It is so cool, laid back and BEAUTIFUL inside. I wish I could go back daily. Pro tip- GET THE PORK BELLY AND TORO!!

Raw fish/sushi quality is ok, however the male manager at the restaurant is rude towards customers and has a bad attitude. He tried to overcharge me for a dish I did not order and I spent around $200. Never received an apology when he realized it was their mistake. If you dine here carefully watch your bill! Unfortunately will not return again. I would recommend going to Mama's Fishhouse in Paia, Spago at Four Seasons Maui Wailea, Ko Restaurant at the Fairmont in Wailea, Ritz Carlton Kapalua for a phenomenal dining experience.

This place is amazing! The food was delicious and the ambiance was perfect! Highly recommend. On a side note, they had live music, it was good! We sat very close, it made it impossible for conversation, but it was a an overall great experience! If it bothers you, ask to sit in the area away from the live music.

We were anticipating a fine establishment, but this far exceeded expectations and was definitely our finest culinary experience in the Hawaiian islands. The food was stunning -- a meat dish (a special that evening) was simply the finest I've ever tasted, and with a large plate of mushrooms perfectly done to accompany it, I couldn't wish for anything more. But I did have desert and that was great. Exceptional.

The food has gotten soooo good here! Wonderful to have a great dinner spot a few blocks from home. Loving the new hot dishes, and the sushi is fantastic and super fresh too! If I were to suggest any improvement jt would be to put a nice green salad on the menu like watercress with wasabi dressing or something like that that goes wit your theme. Also, you have no decent wine to drink anymore? Not even a decent Sancerre or sauv blanc? Anyways, will be back. Just not for wine.

Frankly, I don't understand some of the reviews on here. Our experience was overwhelmingly positive. Our server was awesome, and the service was neither fast or slow... just was my wife and i wanted for a romantic dinner date. Our drinks were great, the sushi rolls were awesome, and so were the short ribs. It looked like the manager was going around the restaurant chatting up clients about their experience, which always says a lot about the management of a restaurant. We will go back again and highly recommend Vana Paia.

We live in Paia actually about a 15 minute walk to the restaurant. Small hidden gem in Pa’ia town. Very nice setting and the staff were very welcoming. The Food was delicious and the service was great from our hostess, waitress, and food runners. We met the manager Michael who was very personable and introduced himself to us and assisted us with our table as well. As I mentioned already, Great food and awesome service. We will be back ;-)

We had made a reservation for later in the evening, but became delayed due to a tree coming down in the road. We called ahead, and they were very understanding. Our server was wonderful to talk to, and never made us feel rushed to place an order before the kitchen closed. When the food arrived, it was the best sushi we have ever had. We will for sure be coming back when we revisit Hawaii.
