Peter and Diane Hall & Chef Derek of Van Rensselaer's proudly continue to serve the freshest locally caught seafood, superbly prepared meats wonderful poultry, and a wide variety of salads, in addition to great homemade sauces, and desserts
Desserts are homemade and Chef Derek was written up for being a top Hawaiian Baking Chef in Hawaii for his Bread Pudding.
We have two small patios, open air with heaters and umbrellas as needed, An eight table screened in awning covered porch as our outside areas.
Our inside tables are well spaced, with black linen table clothes. Staff is noted for its professionalism and friendliness. We welcome you to Van Rensselaer's.

We are proud to say we are Level 1 Green certified! Check out our newly renovated bar for dinner or just a drink.

    We loved eating at VR’s!! Everything was outstanding. The shrimp and scallops were delicious. My daughter-in-law said the duck was perfectly cooked and even the little guy loved every bite of his dinner. But best of all is the exceptional service and the amazing owners!! And don’t let me forget that special dessert—brownie w ice cream and it’s delicious home made toppings!!! We will be back real soon. One of our favorite Cape Cod restaurants for sure.

    It is always a pleasure to visit for dinner. The menu is excellent, the food is wonderful, and the staff is fun.

    The meals are always delicious, presentation is very appealing, owners have always been on site welcoming, many of their staff have been with them for years, from the returning college students to the seasoned servers. Engaging and knowledgeable waitstaff. Our primary home is off cape but we visit the area many times during the year, always making plans to have a nice quiet dinner at Van R's. one of our favorite desserts is the Creme Brulee. The menu selection of tasty entrees and highlighted new vineyards make our choices difficult. June 2025 our server Balyn(?) young lady from Northwest CT on her way to her first teaching job on the Vineyard. Congrats to her and her family whom she says have worked for Peter and Diane for years. Thank you to everyone. See you again soon

    Friendly and accommodating staff, good food and excellent drinks - what more can one ask for? This is a favorite restaurant of ours and we will continue to visit whenever we are at the cape!

    VRs is a cape cod classic. Good food, great atmosphere and excellent service. I had the yellowfin tuna and it was very good. My friend had the prime rib ordered rare and it was cooked perfectly. It was also my friend’s birthday so she got a free dessert. We had a great time and were very happy to have chosen VRs.

    Seated quickly upon arrival Waitress was very good with my grand daughter answering all her questions with a smile Appetizers arrived quickly and were delicious Food was outstanding with good portions Owners came to table and greeted us A great experience for my grand daughter answering And excellent food and service

    Had a great meal here! Such fresh fish - you could tell by the simple dishes showcasing the fish not hiding it! Service was excellent and great for gluten allergy! Highly recommend.

    Van Rensselaer's is classic Cape Cod, right across from the entrance to Marconi Beach. Eat inside, covered deck or on the patio. Great vibe and wonderful, friendly people. The food is prepared with care and using excellent ingredients ..... and just enough for a satisfying portion ---- some big eaters might wish for a little more. This has been owned and operated by the same family for decades. We love it!
