Inspired by his family & and their home-cooked meals, Vallata is Tom Colicchio's first ever Italian restaurant on 19th & Park. First a pop-up, now a permanent resident, Vallata shares straightforward Italian cooking in an intimate and eclectic space. Vallata is a neighborhood trattoria where the abundance of the local region is used to create simple, straightforward dishes that are executed in the restaurants lively open kitchen. Open for dinner 7 nights/week and weekday lunch, Vallata aims to remind us of the connective powers of food & family.

    A long-standing Colicchio tradition is joining the Vallata family. We're serving Tom Colicchio's Sunday Gravy in 2 family-style courses for $60/person (does not include tax & gratuity). The first course features our housemade Potato Focaccia, Prosciutto, Mortadella & Antipasto & Tuscan Kale, Fennel & Anchovy Dressing. The second course features Tom's Slow-Cooked Gravy with Veal & Ricotta Meatballs, Braciole, Sweet Fennel Sausage alongside Paccheri Pasta. Full table participation is required. Carafes of red & white wine and family-style desserts are also available as add ons.

    For being a smaller restaurant by Tom Colicchio (sp?), Vallata was just ok. Everyone was amiable and accommodating. Yet, despite the fact that Tom wasn't there cooking, no one, evidently, had learned anything from Tom himself. Have they even watched him on Top Chef? Because if they had paid attention to what he says about the food prepared by the competitive chefs on the show, our meals would've definitely been seasoned properly.

    Where do we begin? This started because we wanted to visit one of “Tom’s” restaurants-we left planning to return for the food, the vibe, and the service. Our server was efficient, kind, and informative/educational- we even met two chefs who explained the seasonal ramps and the secret to the velvety Bucatini Cacio E Pepe! Tom, all of your team receives the best praise -

    The server was very nice and attentive. But, we waited a very long time to get our food. The server apologized for the long wait between our appetizer and our entrees. It seemed there was an issue in the kitchen and based on the comments from what appeared to be a manger, other tables were complaining as well.

    Except for the busboy, the staff seemed overwhelmed at times. Food was not up to expectations. Pasta appeared to be sitting in kitchen too long before being served.

    This was my first time dining at Vallata, and I had a most wonderful experience. The gemelli with pesto sauce and the cod fish were both delicious, and the chocolate cake was out of this world. The setting is lovely and the service was outstanding. Another great addition the Gramercy area dining scene.

    This was a birthday celebration and Vallata made the night so special. From the hostess saying happy birthday to the guest to the menu saying happy birthday on it with the guest’s name, and finally to the waitress bringing a scoop of gelato with happy birthday on the plate, the guest felt very special and it was a wonderful evening. The food itself was amazing; the arancini was delicious and the pasta cooked Al dente and delicious as well. The drinks were well done and the ambiance was perfect. The waitress did not rush us so we could take our time celebrating this occasion. Thank you so much to all the staff for an amazing night we will not forget! Definitely coming back to this great place

    Pasta was very, very good. Service was disjointed and a bit awkward; none of the servers seemed to really know or understand the menu, which is entirely in Italian. Our server was nice, though! But would have rather not had to Google all the words.

    Simple, delicious food. Vallata delivers in every way. The servers, William and Olympia, were informative and friendly, and clearly enjoy working there. Tom Collichio himself was cooking tonight, and spoke to me as I enjoyed my meal at the bar. I had the cacio e Pepe pasta and the meatballs. Both were excellent, essentially perfect versions of each dish. The value is remarkable here, with $21 pricing on each dish. The bambolino was a perfect, not too sweet dessert. William explained to me that Vallata is Tom’s ancestral hometown in the mountains of southern Italy, east of Naples, and that this restaurant is his “passion project.” It shows. Everything is done right, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience.

    Ambiance and service was very good. Food was good but not as great as I remember. Kale Salad was soggy and not flavorful. Cod was tasty in broth but fewer vegetables than described. Sorbet was too sweet. Perhaps an off night.

    An odd luncheon. Handsome place; empty as a tomb. Only one other couple the entire lunch. Wonder whether it had anything to do with the truncated menu from online offerings. Began with a very tasty potato foccacia($1 higher than online price); a nice pasta with ramps, green garlic and allegedly pepperoncini which was invisible). Portion was skimpy. A lamb sausage with a few sprigs of thin broccoli rabe stalks was also good but small for $28. My friend complained about the low pour on my glass of red and front man graciously topped it off. A $12 draft beer was unavailable The bomboloni for dessert was delicious and our exceptional waitress brought along 3 incredibly fine cookies. Summing up: our food was fine; service superb, but small portions and quite high prices might have something to do with the empty restaurant, though master Colicchio was in attendance throughout. Don't like OT's choice of yes or no below.

    Fabulous dinner. Relaxed, welcoming and gracious! For me the sign of a good restaurant is when they let you sample a wine that you want to try but are uncertain. Bucatini cavil e Pepe was outstanding. Meatball were generous, light , moist and flavorful. We will be back

    Celebrated a birthday Vallata after having visited on a date months before. During both visits, the service was outstanding, food was absolutely delicious, and the atmosphere was comfortable and welcoming yet sophisticated. This time, we went with Tom’s Sunday Gravy — very generous portions, extremely hospitable staff. From cocktails to salads to sauce to sweets, everything was so so good. Would absolutely go back. Thank you.

    I would definitely recommend this restaurant to a friend. The food is reasonably priced and great; the open kitchen concept is a great way to engage with the prep and cook process. The drinks were on the more expensive side but also very tasty. The staff were all very helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. I wasn't fond of my table because I was kind of shoved into a corner with a plant right up against me, but that's a minor issue and I'm sure if I had complained to the staff something would have been adjusted.

    I'll definitely be returning to Vallata. Food was very good with some dishes outstanding: the lamb sausage, and ricotta cavatelli. Disappointed with the confit tuna appetizer though. I look forward to trying more dishes, especially the pasta.

    Amazing flavor profiles elevate this casual dining experience. Pretty classic Italian menu but the preparations are super delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive. Christian took great care of us. The open kitchen means you can watch Amanda prepare the food, and she stopped by the table to say hi. We had great meal and will definitely be going back.

    Excellent from beginning to end! We’ve been to both Craft and Valatta many times and have never had one bad experience.this was our first lunch and I highly recommend it if you are in the area. Excellent service, food, ambiance… perfect.

    The appetizers were pretty good - potato focaccia was very tasty (but no oil or butter?) - although I’d probably order that alongside the pasta dishes to sop up the sauce next time. Salad was good, not overly dressed. Pasta was fantastic. Perfectly cooked and a not too much so you can have a main dish. Again, maybe save the focaccia for this course. Pork shoulder and meatballs were great as well. With the three courses you’re full but not overly full. Where I think the restaurant needs work is the dessert course. I had the course listed as cannoli and partner had the cookies. The cannoli was more of a doughnut (I probably didn’t read the description well enough) and the three cookies were 12 dollars. Skip the cookies. They’re the size of Pepperidge farm cookies and they’re good, just not 4 dollars each good. I might be convinced if it were cookies and gelato (maybe). So not worth it. The cannoli/doughnut was ok but I’d never order it again. If the other desserts don’t grab your fancy then skip that course here and go elsewhere.

    Quite a social center for 30-somethings looking for excellent food, service and fun. But menu is limited, space is somewhat awkward and crowded, noise is high and service is earnest, friendly and professional but a bit chaotic, with a half-hour delay in seating a reservation.
