Service was great food was excellent , ambiance would of been better if fire place has been on.
It was a great experience! Great service and very tasty food. Would go back for sure.
We both had the steak frites and were very impressed, however, we were disappointed with the wine list which we found very basic with not enough emphasis on Old World wines. Overall we found the food menu a bit limited but we were pleased with what we ordered. Service was very attentive. Servers wore face shields in lieu of masks.
My experience at the Caledonia restaurant inside the Valhalla resort exceeded all expectations. My original preference was to have diner out in the town of Helen but we were a bit tired from traveling and thank goodness for that. The food was excellent, best I’ve had in Georgia. Same could be said about the cocktails. I was instantly hooked on the Rumchata martinis. As far as service goes, I honesty couldn’t have asked for any better. Will definitely be eating here again next time around.
Parking is inadequate if you don’t elect valet service. There were only two servers in the whole restaurant for the evening so they were both extremely busy and struggling to keep up. The food was just average and was not piping hot when it arrived at the table. I noted on the reservation that we were celebrating a birthday and mentioned it again to the server and it never went beyond that. The most helpful people we encountered were the doorman and the gate attendant. Would likely never return based on first impressions.
The dining experience was outstanding with excellent food, amazing atmosphere, and exceptional servers (all wearing masks for Covid-19). We ate outside on the balcony overlooking the pool where they have heaters to keep the area warm. Tables were distanced at least 6 ft apart. The service was prompt with our appetizers and drinks. The main courses we had were the salmon. They were prepared to perfection, as they were very succulent, thick, and delicious. The sides were very good, as well. We would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely return the next time we are in Helen, GA.
Food was wonderful, fantastic staff.. Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner!
This establishment is a modest dining area of a genuinely lovely resort/hotel in Helen, GA. Amicable staff. The service is good. The food was delicious. My wife enjoyed her filet mignon and the sides. I enjoyed the pasta of the day, a jerked shrimp with bacon, broccolini, Alfredo sauce over fettuccine. It was cooked perfectly and very tasty. We shared the fall salad that was also very tasty.
Restaurant was much smaller than I expected. Limited menu. Food was pricey $23 for chicken Marsala. Ordered wine; first glass was a meager pour, second was heartier. Dined mid-week during Helen’s Oktoberfest. Only one other couple in the restaurant at 7:30 time slot.
We were one of only three tables occupied at the restaurant. There was only one staff person seating, serving etc.. I’m not sure if that was covid related or not. She was very nice but obviously couldn’t keep up with the three tables. Our food took over an hour to come out and it was only mediocre.
Amazing dinner 😍
Valhalla is an amazing resort and this resturaunt is incredible. This was our second trip from Atlanta and we already booked Thanksgiving.
waitress was new (we think) to the job and a little slow. The staff seated another party of four next to us. They were extremely loud, and interrupted an anniversary celebration that would have otherwise been a wonderful experience.
Great atmosphere. Foot was just ok. I would def eat there again. Very nice evening looking over the mountains
My husband and I totally enjoyed our dining experience. It was our first time eating inside a restaurant and we felt very comfortable and safe. Our food was outstanding. I had the filet mignon and it was great and my husband had the Southern chicken which was the best fried chicken he'd ever had. The Caesar salad was wonderful. Our waitress was very engaging. We totally recommend this dining experience!
Caledonia restaurant was quaint and nice. We had reservation for outside dining at 7:00 but upon arrival 10 minutes early, was denied our reservation by the hostess/bartender. So we had to eat by the bar..... not what I wanted for my birthday dinner! Food was deceased but missing the vegetables as the kitchen was out of several items of food and wine.
Had a wonderful dinner on patio. Had goat cheese fondue and husband had chicken fried steak. Both were great
My wife’s birthday dinner. It was great in every department.
Excellent service. Was accommodating to my plant based diet. I would recommend more plant base/vegan choices on the menu.
What a beautiful place. Service was exceptional and the food was fantastic. Highly recommend this resort
We called hotel because we were running late to find out they had a rehearsal dinner going in the main dining room and it was closed. They did provide that menu in their sky bar. We were the only table there. It took forever to get the bottle of wine we ordered and our food. The steaks were very average for the price. Would not go back although the staff were very nice
Made reservations for my wifes 30th birthday weeks prior at caldonia and when we arrived they were having a reserved party in the whole restaurant so they brought us up to the skybar which is NOT what I had reserved. We did not want bar food for our special date. Manager never came to help. Bartender tried but after trying for 5 min we left. Big thumbs down.
We ate on the deck overlooking the pool and a bit of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The 3 staff members were lovely and attentive. We tried some local wine which was crisp, medium body and unoaked. My husband’s steak was the only weak spot. It was correctly cooked but lacked flavor. It was under marbled yet had excessive fat around the edges. The salads were excellent. I recommend this restaurant. It was also quiet, the restaurants in town were noisy and raucous so it was perfect after a long drive getting into Helen
Incredible Salad, steak, potatoes, carrots and awesome Corn Bread. Really nice Hotel also.
We only had Sunday lunch and were disappointed with the limited menu. The facilities were great with a great view of the mountains. Very few (6) lunch guests while we were there.
Have been there a couple of tomes lately and was a very enjoyable experience, every one seems to work together and enjoy what they do. This makes those that are there enjoy being there.
This is such a fabulous gem in Helen. The food was amazing and dining outdoors provides spectacular views. Can’t wait to return!
Amazing food and a beautiful view!
We had a wonderful evening celebrating my wife’s birthday. Everything was wonderful and the night couldn’t have been more perfect.
I recommended this place for a client for her birthday party. She had a fabulous time and everyone was so great there. I will definitely be recommending this for future clients.
Better than average food in this small town, remote location. Menu is limited, as might be expected for a low volume location. Wine list is 3x markup plus more for premium wines. Service staff was very friendly and attentive. Likely the best choice in Helen, GA for special occasion dining.
Overall a good experience, and I would go back with proper expectations. The setting, service and view are great. With the menu, I was shocked the entrees were as affordable as they were, then the food came and it fit the pricing. We went expecting a high end meal with relatively comparable pricing. The appetizer (crabcake for us) was excellent, but the majns were Longhorns chain pricing and quality.
If you are in Helen and want a quiet setting outside of the hustle & bustle of town with a nice view and cost conscious menu, this is a good spot. If your a true foodie willing to pay for a great dining experience that includes great and unique food, I recommend you look elsewhere. Our dinner for 2 was under $100 and included an appetizer, mid-shelf bourbon and 20%+ gratuity. You could easily spend that or more at your local Outback, but at Valhalla you’ll have ambiance, service and view that are unique to their venue.
While the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and has great staff, the restaurant was a huge disappointment. We had a reservation for 7:30pm, when we arrived it took a while for the hostess to greet and seat us. Finally we were seated and got water. But then that was it. The waitress never came back to take our drink order. By 7:50pm we had enough and left to go eat somewhere else. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel but the evening really left a bitter taste.
Portions could have been larger, we left hungry, went and ate a pizza directly after. But the food was delicious! Place is gorgeous, service was impeccable!
The menu was limited, but we still had trouble deciding what to get. There were some drink specials that looked pretty good, but by our choice, we did not take advantage of those. The food was really good. We got the special appetizer they recommended, a salad, and the surf and turf. All of it was really tasty. The service was really good. No complaints at all. The atmosphere was cozy.
Great food and attention to detail! Great service and ambiance.
Well, my salmon was raw and the pork was way overcooked. Do not recommend!
Nice to have dining on the property. Overall a nice dinner, though some of our entrees lacked flavor. Nice wine selection.
Excellent services. Very attentive and really surprised me with a detail for my wedding anniversary. Thank you
If I return to Helen without hesitation I will go again
