Valhalla Resort Hotel Dining
Amazing food and a beautiful view!
We had a wonderful evening celebrating my wife’s birthday. Everything was wonderful and the night couldn’t have been more perfect.
I recommended this place for a client for her birthday party. She had a fabulous time and everyone was so great there. I will definitely be recommending this for future clients.
Better than average food in this small town, remote location. Menu is limited, as might be expected for a low volume location. Wine list is 3x markup plus more for premium wines. Service staff was very friendly and attentive. Likely the best choice in Helen, GA for special occasion dining.
Overall a good experience, and I would go back with proper expectations. The setting, service and view are great. With the menu, I was shocked the entrees were as affordable as they were, then the food came and it fit the pricing. We went expecting a high end meal with relatively comparable pricing. The appetizer (crabcake for us) was excellent, but the majns were Longhorns chain pricing and quality.
If you are in Helen and want a quiet setting outside of the hustle & bustle of town with a nice view and cost conscious menu, this is a good spot. If your a true foodie willing to pay for a great dining experience that includes great and unique food, I recommend you look elsewhere. Our dinner for 2 was under $100 and included an appetizer, mid-shelf bourbon and 20%+ gratuity. You could easily spend that or more at your local Outback, but at Valhalla you’ll have ambiance, service and view that are unique to their venue.
While the hotel is absolutely gorgeous and has great staff, the restaurant was a huge disappointment. We had a reservation for 7:30pm, when we arrived it took a while for the hostess to greet and seat us. Finally we were seated and got water. But then that was it. The waitress never came back to take our drink order. By 7:50pm we had enough and left to go eat somewhere else. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel but the evening really left a bitter taste.
Portions could have been larger, we left hungry, went and ate a pizza directly after. But the food was delicious! Place is gorgeous, service was impeccable!
The menu was limited, but we still had trouble deciding what to get. There were some drink specials that looked pretty good, but by our choice, we did not take advantage of those. The food was really good. We got the special appetizer they recommended, a salad, and the surf and turf. All of it was really tasty. The service was really good. No complaints at all. The atmosphere was cozy.
Great food and attention to detail! Great service and ambiance.
Well, my salmon was raw and the pork was way overcooked. Do not recommend!
Nice to have dining on the property. Overall a nice dinner, though some of our entrees lacked flavor. Nice wine selection.
Excellent services. Very attentive and really surprised me with a detail for my wedding anniversary. Thank you
If I return to Helen without hesitation I will go again
Great views from the terrace while dining. My wife and I will definitely dine here again.
The service was terrible. small menu selection but good food.
New Year’s Eve. Restaurant failed to notify OpenTable or myself that there was a private party and that the restaurant would not available for dinner. We were accommodated at the bar area. After being seated we were not acknowledged for at least 20 minutes. Someone from our party got up from the table to inform the waitress that we needed menus and silverware, as we were seated at an empty table. Food was served cold, some of the meals were given at wrong temperature (over cooked). All sodas were flat and watered down.
Really hard to find - had to call multiple times for directions. GPS kept leading me astray. Service was top notch! They allowed us to stay two hours past last reservation time, repeatedly told us no rush, and took good care of us.
We had never been to this restaurant so we decided to go on Christmas Day. Everything was absolutely PERFECT... from the cocktails, to the three-course dinners and even the valet parking! Couldn't ask for more.
Perfect dinner thank you
When we arrived, we were notified that the Caledonia Room was closed for renovations. The Sky Bar was available with the same menu items so we decided to stay. The food and service was outstanding...we will try the Caledonia Room at a later date date when it reopens.
They had a very good thanksgiving spread with all the classics. That paired with craft cocktails made for a nice day.
Great hotel dinning room that the locals use too. All meals were great. Service was excellent too. We will come back!
Four adults went on a Sunday night when many other restaurants were either closed or had a loud band. We experienced a very nice environment to talk with over the top service. Out top choice while in Helen area.
Very wonderful, relaxing, romantic and delicious dinner !!
We spent 3 night at this property. It’s beautiful! The food is so mediocre. Their menu is tiny and they don’t have some of the items. It was pure and simply mediocre.
So we heard this was a must go kinda place. First thing there was nobody eating in the main room. It was empty on a sat night. Real weird to me. The food was good not great. And the drink prices were insanely high.
We tried to valet and they had no idea what to do. They left our car in the exact spot we left it. Over all super creepy feeling from this place. Like the hotel from the Shinning.
Out of several food items on the menu. Slow service, however, nice view of mountains and sunset
We celebrated my beloved dad’s 87th birthday, and it was an exceptional experience! Blessed memories linger still!
Bad. Will not return. Waste of moneys.
Delicious Food in a very charming and quiet environment. Highly recommend it! Great for couples.
We experienced great food in a quiet and relaxed atmosphere.
Very disappointed in this visit to Caledonia. The setting (outdoor seating) is beautiful. However the food and service were disappointing. Our server did not know if there were any specials. She had to go check. We had salmon and trout as entrees, The salmon seemed to be overcooked. The trout was served fried but the skin had not been removed! So I had to remove the breading from the fish and then remove the skin in order to eat it. Anyone who cooks fish should know to remove the skin before frying! I also asked for tartar sauce and they had none! Really! Fried fish and no tartar sauce.
Our first visit there last year was pretty good but I doubt we will return.
Kitchen was out of 2 of 6 entrees, and also out of both desserts. To charge the prices they do, and be out of major items at a 6pm seating is unacceptable.
Awesome. We will be back
Very pleasant evening; absolutely delicious meal, and beautiful view of the NE Georgia mountains. Thank you.
Great fine dining in Helen, GA. Resort is beautiful and dining experience was as well! We will return!
This is actually a review of the Sky Bar at the Valhalla Resort Hotel. We had a reservation for the Sky Bar, but it showed up as a reservation at Caledonia, which we cleared up when we arrived. The Sky Bar is lovely with a fantastic view of the Appalachians. The menu is comprehensive, with a range of starters, light fare, sandwiches and even entrees! Kudos to the wait staff, who are excellent! Kerala, our favorite, was outstanding!
This restaurant has gone under yet another change and the food that was so really good was not very good the last time we were there I requested a medium rare steak and it came out medium well I’m the service was not fantastic. We did find out that they have a new chef and that they were going to change the entire menu yet again. So sad that we can’t keep a consistent really good restaurant.
Great anniversary dinner. Service was excellent! Shall return.
Not very impressed. The descriptions on the menu didn’t match the food. Do Not get the buffet!! The biscuit was so hard. Way too expensive for the lack of quality.
