Great service. Great vibe. Great fun. Loved the squash soup!!
great place, often loud, but worth it for both food and drinks.
Truly one of the worst New York service experiences I’ve had. I saw my server maybe 3 times in the two hours we were there. The staff is rude, we got our food before our drinks, he missed items even though we got only appetizers when we brought it up they were rude to us for their mistake..I work in the service industry I’m not expecting perfection but this was just overall a terrible experience for my birthday dinner.
Our dinner experience was absolutely lovely! Everyone from the hostess to the waiters were extremely friendly... one waiter was actually training another and was doing a great job explaining the menu to us while talking to the new hire-and that's a skill within itself! Although they were completely out of the NY Strip, he was able to recommend another dish- the braised short ribs- which were delicious. The gin menu and cocktails were equally impressive, and we loved each one we tried - including an Herbal G&T , Citrus G&T, French 75, and one other that I can't remember... The ambiance was cool and refined, decor was festive and classy, it was the perfect spot for our post-theater dinner to wrap up my birthday/ holiday weekend. Thank you team Valerie!
Beautiful decor, great energy, everything was delicious! The service was great too. Highly recommend!
Superior spot for pre-theatre dining! Avoid the tourist traps in Times Square and walk the extra Avenue for a special meal in a beautiful welcoming space. Vibrant two-level bar scene, and a great menu that offers something for everyone. We even got away without having any entreés, because the seafood and other starter options were so filling. Crab cakes and tuna tartare were especially notable. The staff ensured that everything was timed perfectly so we could enjoy a leisurely meal without a last minute rush to the theatre. Nice job!
The restaurant is lovely and the menu interesting. My food was cool. The waiter was inattentive and made many mistakes but was polite. He did fix his mistakes, maybe it was his first day.
Wonderful service, very cozy, excellent food.
Food was delicious and timed well as we asked.
The service was very good w/o being too much.
Maybe our timing was a little off (Sun @ 6) but the table was just off the bar area and the noise level from the bar and one neighbor was very loud.
I would go again
Excellent dinner Perfectly prepared Would not change a thing
Valerie is in a gorgeous building! Very classy. It was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The room we were in was towards the back so the sound was enough to be energetic but still allow us to hold conversation. The food was amazing. The staff was friendly and very attentive. I definitely will be back!
Disappointed that lunch menu was not available on Saturday. Don’t bother with “bread” for the table. It was burned and had to go back. Omelette was fluffy and pretty good. No dessert option.
Boisterous vibe and very crowded bar area. Service is very slow, but understandable due to present economic situation. Wine list is limited and they are out of a few selections. Gin library is very extensive. Food is fabulous. Just be prepared when you dine to have lots of time and patience! Very loud!!
Great night at Valerie. Terrific bites - oysters, fig flatbread and truffle fries to go along with perfect beverages.
My guests were late but the woman at the desk was fantastic and accommodated their late arrival. Service was very good and our meals were very good as well. In terms of food coming out timely, they brought everything out like clockwork. The restaurant does get loud so if you are looking for quite and intimate dining you might think twice about coming during the dinner rush. The bar was busy and you can get just about anything. Solid meal at a hopping place in midtown.
Amazing last night with you in NYC! We will recommend your place to our friends :)
Cool vibe, great cocktails and the food was awesome. Service was ok, but less than expected.
I ordered crab cake benedict...I always look forward for brunch...nothing wow moment to notice. I also ordered latte & asked for splenda...server brought all different types of packets BUT splenda!
Overall it was a great experience. Went for brunch. Food and drinks were good. Loved the ambieance. Would love to go back and see it at night with the upstairs open. Only thing was I was not a fan of eating brunch at a high top, but I also just went with it and didn't ask for a table change. Service was fantastic. Our waiter was pleasant and attentive while not being overbearing. I do recommend
Had reservations for brunch, and when we arrived the already beautiful interior was decorated for Christmas! The servers, bartenders and hostess were friendly and prompt. The bloody Mary’s, and Prosecco hit the spot for brunch and the food was delicious as well. We had the burrata and prosciutto flatbread, avocado toast, and the short rib hash. Would recommend all! Definitely will be returning to try more of the menu and some of their lovely looking cocktails!
It was my birthday and we were a party of 11. They brought out the menus all 4 of them, obviously a problem since there were 11 of us. The waitress (I think her name was Cassie) was horrible, in the middle of taking SOME of our drink orders she took SOME of the food order and walked away numerous time to put the orders in sporadically. So needless to say some of us had drinks while others waiting more then 30-40 minutes for their drinks. The appetizers came out, out of order with the servers just placing them on the table without announcing what it was. And a few were sent back because the taste was unrecognizable for what it was supposed to be. Finally the food orders came trickling out and anyone who ordered steak was given the wrong cooking time. Funny enough my friends who did order first, even before anyone got their drink, their order was LAST to come out. The waitress was no where to be found mind you we were seated near the computer where the orders are put in and 10 feet from where most of the waiters converged to prepare orders. So why she constantly bypassed our table, I am not sure. None the less it was MY birthday and I had one drink, because she never came back to ask if I wanted another or if everything was ok. NOW the fun part, the check! She gave us 2 checks, one for drinks and another for the food. BOTH had to be adjusted numerous times because we sent back at least 3 plates and 1 drink. So finally it is all adjusted when I ask why she was charging 2 gratuities, one for each check, we were one party and first you are forcing the 20% because at this point I would have given nothing but she was also charging an additional 20% because she split the bill! The food was horrendous to say the least. I have had better bar food in dive bars! I regret inviting my friends and family to this place. I feel like I owe them all the money they spent to spend my birthday with me! The check was over $900, the food was horrible and the wait staff even worse! 0 stars!
We loved it. The food, cocktails and experience was amazing!
Great bang for your buck. The service was stellar. The food was absolutely delicious.
Great for various occasions. I couldn't stop raving about my experience. Truly a gem!
A nice comfortable inviting atmosphere. The food was excellent, the service was very good and the prices were very reasonable especially for New York City.
We all enjoyed the restaurant. It was decorated beautifully, the food and service were great and we liked that we weren’t rushed through our dinner.
This is a fabulous after-theater place with excellent G&Ts.
Thoroughly enjoyed my evening at Valerie. It is a lively place, obviously popular with the after work crowd. I was there for a pre-theater meal, and got there before the rush, thank goodness. I was able to enjoy drinks and oysters from the happy hour menu, and an outstanding chicken entree from the dinner menu. Oysters were cleanly shucked and delicious. Everything was good. A very special shout out to my superwoman server, Christine. She was one of the friendliest, most efficient servers I've ever encountered. Even when the crowd got intense, she never lost her smile or composure.
Excellent drinks, food and service! Perfect lunch spot pre-matinee.
Don’t tell anyone!
Pre theater dinner- staff very attentive- a little noisier than I would have liked. Food was terrific
Food was good, service terrible. Table next to us came in after us, ordered after us and was finished eating before we got our food. Not a covid related staffing issue, just a bad waitress.
Lovely spot for a pre-theater ladies brunch! Bloody Mary was superb. Polenta with short rib was savory and delicious, and generous enough to share. Solid, friendly service. I’m sure it gets glamorous in the evenings… beautiful bar area with cathedral ceilings and mezzanine. Great atmosphere. I’ll be back!
Cassidy - our server - was very sweet, attentive, caring, and engaged. Drinks were great and not terribly overpriced. The portions were as large as the quality was high! Definitely recommend Valerie as a date and/or dinner place.
Enjoyed an early dinner at Valerie. Extensive gin list so had a gin martini and it was very good. Had the green bean tempura and it was fantastic. Perfectly prepared. I then had the green pea tarragon ravioli with poached lobster butter sauce and English peas and fava bean garnish. Everyone should be ordering this dish. Would be hard to beat. My guest had the short rib. She enjoyed it but would have preferred more sauce on the dish. Service excellent. Will go back.
Delicious food ! Loved the ambiance and decor!
Great experience there for brunch before seeing a Broadway show. Excellent food and service and a close walk to the theater without being in the middle of the busy Times Square area.
Very energetic and busy bar. Makes it hard to have conversation. Drinks are good but fairly expensive ($17-20 for a cocktail). Food is flavorful and service is good.
Amazing food and cocktails. Will definitely be going back again!
Great food, excellent service- i will be back!
Great atmosphere, service and food. Excellent restaurant.
We had happy hour $1 oysters and they were delicious.
