At first I was excited to go eat at this restaurant. The service was good but the food was not that great for the price I payed. I was expecting great amazing food but honestly I could've gone to Olive Garden for better tasting food....sad.
Although the food was a failure our server was great and very helpful when it came to pairing our food with great wine. Will not go back EVER. Do Not Waste ur Cash or time here. 5 out 10 I give this place.
Best Italian Restaurant in LA
SUPERB IN EVERY WAY. SUPERB IN EVERY WAY.SUPERB IN EVERY WAY.
They keep re-imagining old things. The mushroom tortino (one of our faves) had grown a little stale, so the chef added just a little cheese to the sauce. YUMMY!
I took a chance on a salad with beans and little bits of lettuce. It turned out to be a real find!
Osso bucco, an old standard here, as good as it's ever been (that is: EXCELLENT!)
My wife started with a squash soup. Very nice, hearty but subtle. She also ordered linguine with clams. Another Italian classic, except that Valentino spices it up with just a touch of jalapeno. I tried this about 5 years ago and found it okay but not outstanding. Well, this time it WAS outstanding! The chef had toned down the jalapeno enough that you could barely detect it, and it really made the dish.
My wife had a short rib as her main course. Very good, but not quite as good as the osso bucco, which remains a real winner!
I continue to recommend Valentino to anyone looking for a first class dining experience.
Great food, superb wine list, comfortable and silent ambient and a private parking with vallet service cheaper than a public parking.
Overall enjoyable. However the wait service was mediocre. Took too long to serve the next plate. Waiter even lost track of the items served. Were not offered coffee until the check arrived.
The food was superior despite the long wait.
Once Dine LA was mentioned the service and the demeanor of the server changed adversely. There was no effort to check back after main course was served, and the server was non-existent from the point the main course was served.
Disappointed with the food
The restaurant was pretty packed with a large table so I get that they are busy. Food was prompt but it took them awhile to bring the menu over and take our orders. Also seemed very rushed . Food was good
The service was outstanding, the wine service was top notch. Every question I had about food pairing was answered with the perfect wine for the dish. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.
It was so awful. Totally dead in atmosphere. Windows are at ceiling height so you can’t see anything. Travel lodge opposite that we thought this was part of. A dreadful place. Soulless. Definitely not for tourist visiting Santa Monica - maybe better as a local neighbourhood restaurant.
great staff - warm and friendly. best wine list in town - every dish was excellent
Valentino is as usual an excellent restaurant. Quite atmosphere and very professional attentive staff
I have been going to Valentino for four (4) decades. The food is always spectacular, the ambiance is lovely, and it's worth every penny.
Always an outstanding experience with great food, wine and service.
This is the 2nd time we have dined there in the last month after several moths passed and enjoyed every minute...the service is amazing...Joe is so wonderful as well as the other staff... Last Saturday we went to celebrate our anniversary...the meal was perfection, but then Joe brought to beautifully encouraged plates wi cannoli’s, tiermisu chocolate stream across the brim of the plates with Hppy Anniversary. The evening was made perfect by this amazing staff.
Always a wonderful dining experience
God is superb
Service is warm and accommodating
Best restaurant and value in LA
Love love this restaurant!
Our visit to Valentino was exquisite as always. I've been dining at this classic restaurant for nearly 40 years and it never disappoints.
A little old-fashioned? Yes, but in the best way imaginable. Piero is a holdover from a time when service and courtesy were important, when quiet conversation ruled (without elevator music), and when food was lovingly prepared and served with pride. If that's old school, I'm all for it!
Still our best restaurant in LA. Paul, our waiter, who is "fixture" of the restaurant made the evening that much more enjoyable for helping select the wine and going out of his way to be helpful and accommodating. The ambiance and decor provide a delightful setting for a great evening. Also, the food was wonderful.
OMG!! What a gem! I will visit every time I come into Los Angeles!! Fine dining, romantic and AMAZING service! Again, so good I would just go alone and eat if I had to!!!!
Great food, classic ambiance, good service
Great food, service and ambience
The food was very delicious. Nice and quiet atmosphere. Highly recommended.
The food is very good, but for the price the service was terrible which impacted the overall experience. This restaurant is legendary, and it must be hard to live up to expectations. Still, guests shouldn't wait almost 15 minutes after being seated even to see a menu. I had to get up to find the waiter even to pay the check. Just got no service, and the restaurant wasn't even all that busy. It's too bad. I hadn't been in years, but when I last went to Valentino's it was absolutely first class. Quite possibly my favorite restaurant, and definitely in the top 5 world wide. It doesn't make the grade now unfortunately. If I'm going to spend nearly $200 before taxes or even drinks, I have many more options with premium service and equally (if not even better) food. Sad to see such a legendary restaurant fall off like this.
great place， I will come again👀
The food and service and great wine in a classic setting made this a memorable night.
Pricy but well worth it. Excellent Italian food, beautifully presented. Excellent service. Wonderful experience!
I have loved Valentino’s for 30 years. I miss the more adventurous menu of long ago. Still a beautiful restaurant and lovely food.
Great staff, enjoyed the ambiance.
We always come as a group from our strategic Coach class and they have always accommodated us. The food and service is always outstanding. They do a great job of a custom menu for us and many chef treats that are unbelievably great! Thanks for always having fresh amazing food and great service. We love coming here!
The service was fantastic. We loved the wine list and enjoyed a special bottle that was perfect! The pasta our server arranged was also perfection. It was a perfect restaurant being both quiet for conversation and spacious.
The restaurant had a nice ambiance and an even better quality of food. I found the salad to be nice but a little disappointing. The rest of the meal[ was just much better. Especially the lamb chop and osso buco.
The service here is sub par. They change the silverware with every course but they don’t place then nicely. Instead they just dump it on the table. They also don’t clean the breadcrumbs off the table. No pride what so ever. Some of the food is good and some are just ok. Octopus and the shrimp rice was excellent but the potato croquettes and the veal was just ok. Better than most but I expect a lot more from a Michelin star restaurant. Might be back for wine and the octopus and the shrimp rice. The 5 course set menu was not worth it in my opinion.
For a valentine’s dinner, it was quite a disappointment. On opentable it didnt even say it was only course menu, and we only realized when we sat down. House bread was cold, and the server only took care of us when it was around 11pm when everyone left. We sat down at 9pm and for a four course meal it took way too long. The food was just normal. For the price, I expected way more. Quite disappointing.
Legendary restaurant in Los Angeles but quite a disappointment. Valentino’s on Valentines Day should be special right? Started out with no receptionist and us standing in the bar like lost sheep. Average Italian food average service. Had to ask for water and coffee refills more than once. High Prices. Bottom line is there was a reason the restaurant was 25% empty on one of the busiest days of the year
It was a delightful evening. Piero, the owner was charming. Of the 3 courses we had same and 6 that were individual only one item was good but lacked salt and pepper. Everything else was special and delicious and in a few cases extraordinary, as you would expect in a restaurant of this status. The wines by the glass were acceptable. The wait staff was attentive and delightful. My wife and I look forward to our next time at Valentino.
We went to celebrate an early Valentines dinner, since Valentines Day falls on Ash Wednesday this year. It was our first visit to Valentino and was the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion. The service was impeccable. The food was first rate. The atmosphere was perfect for a romantic evening.
