   The food was lovely . The pod was maybe a little small for 8 people, 6 would be better. We had assumed that the pod would be covered in but the sides were open so a little chilly, although they did provide blankets. All in all it was a good evening and it was nice sitting in the pod as it was very nicely decorated so made for good photos!

   We were the only outdoor diners and the staff clearly forgot we were there. We finished eating at 19.10 and by 19.40 our plates had still not been cleared and no one had asked if we needed more drinks or the dessert menu. We sent our eldest son in to ask for the bill which he brought out himself. No one asked if we enjoyed our meal or anything. Food was nice but service was shocking. Would definitely not go there again or recommend to anyone else.

   We was told we had heating there was none and we waited 40 minutes to get a drink the lady said bar staff had walked out although our waitress was apologetic and friendly

   Booked for a birthday, was messed around on the phone for 2 days trying to book an extra person on the table. Arrived with no heaters set up, then when the staff were doing it around us at the table the electricity kept tripping out. Was asked to move to a different themed pod and we had to bring our own cutlery and plates with us as they hadn't set up the other pod for us. The electricity continued to trip and we had to go inside to the main pub. We booked their specially for the flower themed pod for a birthday so we was not happy. Servers had to keep running to the kitchen and bar to ask them questions which they should know if they are serving us. Food and drink were average. Overall poor experience for all 7 of us. The only thing thst made up for it slightly was the discount we got at the end because of the inconvenience of the night. Such a shame as it was all of our first time visiting and we were so excited.

   Fantastic idea in the jungle area. Attentive staff, great food and an incredible magician roaming around doing amazing tricks. Excellent evening.

   Poor handling of query regarding pod cost my manager

   Thanks for your message. If you could please give us some more detail by popping an email to letschat@valentinaoccasions.co.uk so we can investigate this for you. Just to clarify we are a separate company to the blue boar and install the pods at our own cost, which is why there is a fee. We have 5 venues in Kent and Essex. We do make it very clear on our website. T&Cs, open table, open table policies and a final reminder on the payment page that this is a hire fee for the private dining pod.

   Did not realise at booking that the £10 fee per person is a hire charge and NOT a deposit. I’ve booked several pods before, some in prime spots in central London and never before have come across this arrangement. The table next to us had the same issue. The restaurant management were poor at addressing this with us when queried as they then spoke disrespectfully about our table when they thought we were out of earshot, but one of our table was passing them at the time. Confronted the manager who did apologise however considering we spent a lot of money in their restaurant, this was really disappointing. Food was good and the waitress was fabulous. DJ packed up earlier than expected so all things considered was a let down!

   Hi Nicola We are a completely separate company to the Blue Boar, we install the pods at no cost to the venue as part of a luxury themed pop up, which is why there is an additional charge. We have 5 other venues across Kent and Essex. We have made this very clear stating price is for the pod hire only and food and drink is not included in bold on our website on the booking page, in our marketing, on our T&Cs and on open table and it reminds you on the payment page before you can book in bold.

   Great food and drink however the service was ok to begin with then when we ordered drinks etc they took a while to come. Would be good if they offered drinks included as part of the pod package if we paid a bit extra. Overall lovely atmosphere was quiet but good music and nice amenities in the pod itself!

    Wish it was made clear, that the price for the pod was not including food and drink. As I assumed it was like a deposit. However it was lovely and different

It does state on the website and in the T&Cs, booking page, in the policies on open table and on the pod information pages that this is for pod hire only and food and drink is not included. Just to explain, we are a different company to the Blue Boar and we provide pop up, exclusive dining experiences for pubs and restaurants, which is why we charge as we install this at no cost to the venue.
