We always have a wonderful evening here. The service is spot on, and very friendly. Great wine list, great wine pairing, and excellent food.
Food is outstanding! Our party had soup, salad, duck, pasta, risotto and dessert. We did not leave a spec of food on our plate. We had a birthday and a candle was added to dessert - nice touch! Outstanding service - perfect pace. We love Valenti!
The food was absolutely spectacular. Our overall experience was great. Dimmed lighting for a perfect date night. I would definitely recommend the doughnut dessert
My bride and I went with our friends to Valenti & Co for our New Years Eve dinner.
We had our favorite greeter/sommelier/server Cristiano working with us.
I went for a variation on my favorite combo:
First I ordered a glass of Roero Arneis white to have with my White Anchovy/Arugula salad, and at Cristiano's suggestion I had half of my bride's Pear and Radicchio Salad. What a good call!
For the main I had my Costoletta aka Veal Chop Milanese. This is the first time I've noticed that it was butterflied and then pounded. I wish I wasn't so hungry I would have taken a picture of it. It looks like a giant maple leaf on the plate. They plated it with romaine hearts vinaigrette instead of arugula. It was killer. I had a glass of Barbaresco with it. I think I will try out the Teroldego on my next visit to give me a bit of variety.
For dessert my bride and I split the Vanilla Panacotta. The accent was some cherries there tasted like very very upscale Maraschino cherries, a beautiful dark red.
I was yearning for a little glass of the Moscato di Asti, but my rational side said "you've got a half hour drive ahead of you, so NO!" And got a "high test" Cappuccino instead. It kept me up till after midnight. Exactly what I needed!
We keep coming back to Valenti & Co for New Year's Eve choice because they do NOT make up some high-priced special meal that the staff has to learn at the last minute and the diners pay a lot and get less quality. Valenti & Co does their regular menu and it's "top drawer" all the way.
Great combination of terrific service, food, and wine. Sounds so simple, but seems so hard to find. It's worth driving down from Sonoma County.
We had a great dinner, food was exceptional and the service was even better!
New Years Eve was wonderful. Food and service was excellent and had a full menu to choose from.
Fantastic all around! Highly recommend
We always have a wonderful time at Valenti.
Excellent and consistent cuisine, attentive service
Absolutely delicious. Best dinner. Every dish Hit. The. spot.
Holiday ladies dinner at Valenti did not disappoint! The staff, food, beverages and ambience were all wonderful. We will be repeat customers.
It's so great to be back at Valenti again! The same goodness abounds.
Christiano is maitre de extraordinaire.. Great service. And the food is always excellent. Our fave restaurant in San Anselmo greater area!
After the great reviews, we were VERY disappointed in the food and the service. The soup was tasteless (even the table next to us noted to the waiter that the soup was not as good as they make at home); the salad was OK. The service was extremely poor! We had to ask for a menu after being seated at the table for about 10 minutes (we were the first ones there). The soup was just barely warm and my friend could not even eat it. We only ordered soup and salad. Others around us got their second course while we waited for our salad. We finally asked the waiter if he could bring us our salad and he told us that he had been asking the kitchen staff to prepare our salads but as yet they were not ready. There were only 5-6 parties in the dining room at the time so it was not packed with diners. I do appreciate the fact that the waiter, at my request, asked the manager to remove my friend's soup from the bill. Sadly, I will not return to this restaurant in the future.
The Maitre d' greeted us warmly at the door and remembered my special dietary needs which I'd posted on OpenTable. Service was thoughtful and timely. There was no difficulty substituting the faro, which I could not have, with polenta served with delicious duck breast cooked to perfection. My companion had the potato spinach gnocchi, soft pillows of flavor.
If it had not been for the Maitre d' we would have missed the excellent dessert, not on the menu, puff pastry "donut" with hazelnut cream and whipped cream....light and perfect for a finish to the meal.
We sat outside, so the noise was no issue. Don't know how it is inside. Food and service is really good. As nice as anywhere in San Anselmo.
We haven’t been out eating as we had before the pandemic. There was no mask requirement but we felt safe.
As usual Duilio cooked an excellent dinner for us. We started with the winter squash soup and the carpaccio.
For our main course we enjoyed the salmon and the fettuccini with white truffles. We ended our meal by sharing a ciambella.
Our meal was outstanding and our host and server, Cristiano, was excellent as well.
Highly recommend Valenti for a date night or whatever for an excellent meal!
I’m sorry to have to give this review of this restaurant. Four of us went to the restaurant and two people ordered scallop and risotto as their main course and one ordered rabbit Ragu pasta and I had the duck. Of the four dinners, mine was the only one that I would consider to be somewhat worth the price. The “scallop and risotto” means just that… ONE lonely scallop in the middle of a SMALL portion of risotto for $28! It’s almost unbelievable that this restaurant can charge that much for so little and still get a 4.7 rating on open table. After arriving at the restaurant, I realized I had been to this restaurant several months ago with a friend and I had the rabbit Ragu. At that time, I remember barely being able to find the rabbit in the pasta. So this time when we were ordering , I asked the waiter ( on behalf of my friend who was going to order it) whether there would be an appreciable amount of rabbit in his Ragu. The waiter said, “I would think so”. I fleetingly thought of asking whether “scallop and risotto” meant only one scallop but neglected to so so. Big mistake. While there was a bit more rabbit in the ragu this time, it still did not make for an entree and, as mentioned, the scallop dish was more of an appetizer. With tip, our bill came to around $270 for 4 of us and three of us left hungry. We had 2 beers and 2-1/2 glasses of wine , two small salads split plus the mains I’ve described. I suppose you could say that a ‘fine dining’ restaurant considers pasta dishes to be a ‘starter’ but this is san Anselmo, not NYC, not SF. I’ve been in many fine restaurants where a pasta or risotto dish is enough to be an entree. None of us will be returning.
I love this place and am always warmly welcomed. The service is friendly, the food good and they know what wines go well with what.
Wonderful service and a unique and delicious Italian menu.
Great food with interesting choices. I had the duck breast and it was done perfectly. Three people had the lamb shank and raved about how terrific it was!
I love this place. The food is great and everyone who works there goes overboard to make you feel welcome and taken care of. The service is excellent.
As always, the food was spectacular and the service 5 star! Highly recommend and we will be back again and again.
My favorite restaurant, food is always delicious, the staff is amazing. We always eat in their back patio, it's lovely, even in chilly weather each table (distanced from other tables) has their own heater. Wholeheartedly recommend them.
Sitting outside in the peaceful courtyard at Valenti is just lovely way to enjoy a meal. It feels completely safe and removed from the rest of the world. The food is totally consistent and always excellent, as is the friendly service. I finally realized yesterday that being closed two days a week means that the same chef and servers are always there. So there are no off nights, no inexperienced servers. Don't miss the house made pasta and the tower of chocolate, two of my personal favorites. We've never had a bad meal though, so try whatever sounds best to you.
We love Valenti's. The food and especially the service are the best we've experienced in Marin
I believe this is the best veal I have ever had. I have tried cotoletta at number of places and have been disappointed more times than I care to remember, but this place makes up for all the disappointments that I have had in the past and more. My wife had the NY strip and it was great too, the only complaint is: it was not warm enough.
Great experience for our return visit after so many months. Dining in the back patio was wonderful. We look forward to coming back soon.
We had a lovely time, enjoying the delicious food and great service.
What a glorious dinner. The spinach and ricotta gnocchi and the pappardelle with rabbit ragu were delicate and delicious. There is considerable talent in that kitchen. And, I was impressed by the variety of unusual wines by the glass. I look forward to returning soon.
Excellent porcello tonnato, tomato soup and exceptional service, as always!
I love Valenti and the outdoor patio is cozy. We were disappointed in the ravioli stuffed with salmon - the pasta was tough and thick. Not the usually outstanding pasta we are used to. One of the guests had the sea bass and raved about it.
Service was very slow.
Excellent wine selection, in additional to great Italian food
Food was fabulous and waitstaff was friendly but the service was very slow last night. Not sure if that was a one time thing due to being short staffed. We will definitely return for the excellent food!
Exceptional food and service. Every dish was a winner. The cavatelli pasta was superb and the bone-in veal chop was mouth watering delicious. Service was professional and friendly. We had a great evening dining outdoors in the spacious patio.
We dined outside in the back patio and it was a beautifully lit, casual spot for dining. The homemade pastas and delectable entrees were superb. We enjoyed the duck, the sea bass and the pork tenderloin. Everything was fresh and delicious.
I had good expectations based on other reviews and was disappointed. While the food was excellent (seabass!) the service and staff was lacking. It started with the person who seated myself and a friend. He was either brand new or just not paying attention. The main server, on multiple occasions was short, or sarcastic. This might work with other customers but not with me, a first time customer. I do not recommend this restaurant.
Always enjoy a wonderful meal at Valenti's! The large outdoor patio with plenty of heat lamps is a great option for these early fall nights.
Great menu selections from appetizers to home made pasta , main dinner offerings. I ordered fresh home made Ricotta Capalini with fresh squash slices and Black Truffles !!
Absolutely nothing wrong with the food but just not a ton of flavor. Focaccia and dessert were the highlights. Pork was the best main.
Overall value was quite good.
