Went here for restaurant week ... the menu looked to have some great options but the output wasn't anything spectacular. Drinks were well crafted but the food lacked any sort of complex flavor profile. It was very one note and they seemed like dishes that most at-home cooks could have done; and just as well. It was ok, certainly not bad ... but not a place that is a "must have" for me.
Because this was Restaurant Week it does not make sense to review this extensively. Unlike other restaurants portions appeared to be standard size. It was good but not off the charts. Would prefer to return and eat from the small plates menu.
Hip atmosphere, great cocktails, fun music. Especially loved the mojitos!
food was delicious! one bad thing was the space. very tight between each table
A great place for mingling and bar scene- not so good for conversation. Food was ok, beignet dessert a big hit. Service was pleasant and accomodating.
Food was amazing, the service was outstanding, and the atmosphere was very vibrant even on a Wednesday night. Definitely a place to be when in the city.
Food was delicious. Drink selection was great. Service was great too. Waiter was friendly, knowledgeable about the menu, and attentive. He made great suggestions. I definitely want to go back.
The food and the service (Zach) were wonderful. We highly recommend the Fried Goat Cheese and the Lobster and Crab Mac and Cheese We will go back!!
The food here was amazing! It felt more like a bar environment than a restaurant, but that was fun for a date night.
Went for Center City District Restaurant Week. There were plenty of options on the menu, generous servings, and everything was delicious. Our server (whose name I can't remember) was attentive, patient, and had satisfying recommendations. Overall very happy with the experience.
Great food, great service. Love the Paella. Good spot for date night.
I always enjoy the food, ambiance and service at Valanni.
Went with a friend and got all apps because they have so many good ones! We picked 5 and had more than enough.
Crispy Brussel sprouts: the BEST. Must order.
Caprese flatbread: warm and seasoned perfectly
Lobster Mac n Cheese: hearty portion. It was good but couldn’t eat much bc it was so heavy
Lamb sliders: nice to have a mini “entree” among all the comfort food and loved the tzatziki on it
Truffle fries: Amazing...I always order anything with truffle oil
Split the Oreo Beignet for dessert and it may have been the best dessert I’ve ever had.
I was pleasantly surprised by the prices since they aren’t listed online...most apps were $10-$18. Our bill +tip (w/ no drinks) was $80.
The overall ambiance of Valanni is wonderful. The food and cocktails set also good however we were told as soon as we walked in the door with a birthday cake that they charge a $4.00 per person cake cutting fee..totally ridiculous. We even asked if we could cut the cake ourselves but was unable to...so if you have a special occasion to celebrate and want to take a cake there....then select another restaurant.
Ordered the mezze board and scallops with bacon. Mezze board was nicely presented and tasted okay mostly. Lamb chops were excellent. Dolmades were soggy. Bacon-wrapped scallops didn't really work--bacon was overdone and sauce was sludgy and of indeterminate flavor. Service and timing were fine. Music was 80s and 90s pop, so fine if you're into that sort of thing.
Valanni is a terrific restaurant tucked away in the theatre district. Our waiter was superb and made wonderful recommendations. We were there early for dinner on a Thursday night before seeing a show so the atmosphere was not too loud for conversation. We sat by the front window which looks like it opens up for summer air. I hope to go back then. One thing I would strongly recommend is that you make it a foursome. The seating is such that you may be sitting in too close quarters to strangers if you go by yourself or as a couple on a busier night. The tables are small, but our server was attentive and it was never a problem for us. Loved the food, especially the crispy skinned salmon. My husband had the burger which was delicious but a little messy to eat.
We went to Valanni's on New Year's Eve for their Tasting Menu. The food was excellent and the service was also very good. Only minor complaint was that they had put so much extra seating in because it was New Years that the servers could not even get to our table. They had to hand our drinks and food over the people at the table next to us. Fortunately we are flexible and weren't overly bothered by this but could definitely see that it could be quite annoying to some.
Fantastic NYE prix fixe menu.
My fiancé and I ate at Valanni on New Year's Eve. We were not disappointed! We enjoyed all four courses immensely. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We're both excited to go back and enjoy another evening there!
Not sure how the other reviewers rated the quality of food so high, it was mediocre at best. Special was bland, paella was flavorless (one piece of squid tasted like it had freezer burn)and mezze board was served barley warm. Diners should not be offered canned dolmades at a restaurant. Simply omit them. The ambiance was decent will go back for a drink or dessert. Definitely not for dinner.
