The drink menu offer nice variety. I had a Sangarita which was really tasty! Alll three of us thought our food was really good and left empty plates. I have crispy Brussel sprouts with apples and bacon, which was a nice twist. We also had the menu chicken enter and a special veal which was a great portion and really yummy. The no back chairs are more comfortable than I thought. I was busy, a little warm in the back, but nothing worth complaining about. The service was prompt and friendly.
First I had to ask for a chair with a back because they wanted me to sit on a stool. The table (for 2) was too small for dinner. The server was not around much and when we asked for a second round of drinks they were very slow to get to us. I got a drink that is typically served with a lime wedge but that wasn't there. I got up and went to the bar to get that. But the worst part was the food. I had scallops with crab and asparagus served on garlic mashed potatoes. There was so much garlic in the potatoes they were inedible.
We were visiting during Outfest. The dishes were consistent. The cocktails were stellar and the service was excellent.
Great place for brunch.
Incredible food and perfect portions. Timely staff and relaxing ambiance
Valanni is presented as a Spanish restaurant but it is really a bar food kind of place with some Spanish heritage dishes - grilled octopus, pulled chicken empinadas, and a selection of polenta dishes. We had a bunch of appetizers - empinadas, chicken kebobs, beef filet kebobs, and grilled brussel sprouts. Loved the grilled brussel sprouts (with apples, almonds, and balsamic vinegar) and the pulled chicken empinadas were good. However, the kebobs were disappointing; although they were perfectly cooked in terms of doneness, the meats were poorly spiced and fairly tasteless. It's clearly a bar, not a place to dine. The waiter kept trying to clear dishes from the table. It's okay, but nothing special. I would not avoid this place, but I would certainly not make a point of going back.
First time here and food was very very good. Loved all the variety in the small plates: calamari, sliders, Brussel sprouts, truffle fries, goat cheese etc.
bread pudding was also very good. Good place pre or post theater. .
Nice size portion and good selection. Paella was too spicy which was not mentioned in the description. Good service and nice pre theater service
It was absolutely amazing. The service was great, the people were great and if was overall a wonderful experience. I will certainly be going back. The food was 5 star dining and truly one of the best I’ve had in philly.
Best paella in Philadelphia. Mezza platter also excellent. Can’t wait to return
Experience was great, food was as good as expected- I come to the place once in a while.
We have dined here on many occasions in the past four or five years. Valanni is always reliably great. Thanks for a good time!
Perfect dinner of scallops asparagus mashed potatoes mushrooms perfect dessert
Came for restaurant week with my boyfriend. Great food great service great atmosphere!! They had a very good menu for restaurant week as well.
I love love love this place. I will be back, everything I ate was delicious. It is very much on the loud side but I didn’t mind.
It’s in the Gayborhood which I absolutely love as well.
I had the spicy empanadas, meat and seafood paella and Oreo beignet. Everything. Everything I ordered was top-notch.
Will be back.
It was amazing, only thing is that the seating was a little tight, most likely because it was restaurant week.. otherwise, it was a good experience
I called to confirm my reservation as it was the last day of restaurant week and I made reservations through open table just the night before. I spoke to a woman on the phone and confirmed that my reservation was intact. Just as I was about to thank her and hang up the call a man (which I believe was the manager) rudely took over and kept asking me “what is my question”. I was so confused because I already accomplished what I called for. Nevertheless, I did not take it as anything. My friend arrived to the restaurant 10 min before me (I was running late because of traffic) and was rudely approached by the same man as soon as she mentioned my name for the reservation. We decided to stay for dinner. However, we were very uncomfortable. The food was great but we will not return to Valanni due to how we were treated. First impressions are everything.
Great place good portions. Water is unfiltered dirty tap water
Overall great experience. I would go there again
John, our waiter was great-attentive but not overly so. Meal was delivered timely and hot!! Ambiance was perfect
We went here for our anniversary dinner for restaurant week. For $35 per person for a 3 course meal it was a good deal. The food was great and everything came out fast. Drinks are not cheap, but normal for center city prices. I had a pear margarita which was great!
Felt like I was in a club that serves okay food. If only I could hear my guests I would’ve rated Valannis better.
Great experience !
Came during restaurant week and the selection was great! Service was a little chaotic but seeing as it’s a busy week was understandable. Everything my friends and I ordered was great. Jack was an outstanding server would definitely ask for him again.
They offered a good variety for restaurant week. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal.
I went for my my birthday with a friend. The location is easy to find. Once we got in we were seated right away. It was empty and we were the only ones there. I know it was a Monday night but it was restaurant week so I expected there to be a little busy. First, we ordered our drinks. Coke was flat so we asked to get a new one but it was still flat. They state that it might be a problem with that line and asked if we would like to try a different drink so we ordered a Sprite. Still flat so we told the waiter and he states that it might be bc they just changed companies. So, no soda which was disappointing bc I knew that the food that I was going to eat would be a bit salty and I would’ve like some soda to wash it down. I got the grilled chicken kabobs, meat and seafood paella, and Oreo beignet. I was skewers looked nice but was a bit dry. The paella had a decent amount of seafood and meat which made it worth it. The Oreo was the best part! It tastes so good bc the saltiness from the paella was cleansed with the sweetness from dessert! My friend got the brussel sprouts and salmon. She said they were both good. Her only issue was that the brussel sprouts were burnt too much. I don’t think I would try this place again for restaurant week but that’s just because there’s so many other places I would try. The staff was great but the food was mediocre.
Great food and service!
Service was terrible, took 30min to get 1 drink, and the place was slow! I sent back the beef Kabab because it truly didn’t taste like beef, very dry and no flavor. Parm fries were good but sad that’s what my dinner mostly was, I was going to order something else but after tasting my husbands beef piaya I felt I was better off with just the fries. The rice was over cooked and the chorizo was not good. The manager was nice and didn’t charge us for a lot of things but we still left paying a bill of 40$ and even that felt like a rip off. Sorry but this experience was terrible.
Valanni's never disappoints. The food is really good. The service was fantastic. Went with my cousin from out of town and he really loved the place as well.
Arrived on a week night at 5:30 for a pre theater dinner. Place was nearly empty, although people trickled in as we ate. We sat in the table adjacent to the window and had a nice breeze. Wait staff was very attentive.
Presentation of food was very nice. Don't expect to take home leftovers-portions are just enough (which is desirable when going straight to the theater.) Recommend the oreo beignet for dessert.
Valanni is one of my favorite restaurants in Philadelphia. I've been there for dinner, brunch, and even just drinks with friends and it's always the perfect spot! Must check it out if you're in the Philly area.
We sat outside during happy hour, and enjoyed everything immensely. A great value for excellent food.
The food and service was wonderful. The seafood Paella and oreo beignets were absolutely incredible. The wait staff was attentive and friendly and the atmosphere was fun an inviting. We will definitely be back!
Great Food and the service was good and the only thing I was disappointed in was that there was no birthday cake for my 25 year old son, just a little old candle on some ice cream.
Excellent food, service & ambience. Also, my guest, who had arrived a few minutes before I did, had to make an emergency call but had not brought her phone with her. The waiter offered her his phone to make the call. It was a gracious move & much appreciated!
Valanni is always a must-go for us when we visit Philadelphia! The food is amazing, the atmosphere is electric and fun and the location is great.
Appetizers were delicious, suggest the brussel sprouts, polenta and calamari. We went during a happy hour special, really enjoyed our time there. Service was exellent.
We were there for a Bachelorette party of six. I’m from out of town and tried to find a place that looked nice online and myself and the whole party couldn’t have been happier with the choice! DELICIOUS food, GREAT ambience, and NICE staff. They made the bride feel very special. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Extremely hot inside it appeared that the air was turned off (during the summer). While our waiter was nice he was extreme slow. We had to ask various people to get him to come over to our table multiple times (we were a party of 11). I don’t think I’ll ever go there with a large party again, maybe with a smaller group though.
Went to celebrate my birthday with some friends. Love the ambiance of the restaurant. The food was ok, I remember loving it the first time I went - that’s why I chose to go here. Service was good.
