Va de Vi translates to "It's all about wine!" in Spain's Catalan language. Of course, it's all about food, too! Executive Chef Brad Zeller's menu encourages diners to explore and share a variety of eclectic, international small plate portions. Great spot! Fell into it earlier this year and we specifically went back for a birthday celebration. Food is fantastic, service great, everyone friendly and works together. Feels like home but you know you're out with ambiance and great eats & drinks. A must try if you've never been.
My mother always said, "Unless you eat your vegetables, you cannot go out and play." We'll if Va De Co existed back in the day, I could have left the table early. The beer salad, squash, and brussel sprouts tapas were outstanding along with the braised short ribs, ramen noodles with shrimp and other stuff. Kudos for service also.
I have been to this restaurant a number of times and consider it a special-occasion type of place, mainly because you have to plan ahead to get in on a weekend night. My friend was having a “big birthday“, and three of us were having ladies lunch before a play. When the waiter approached us, I pointed out that it was our friend’s birthday, but he made nothing of it whatsoever. It took a while to get our cocktails, and the food came at odd intervals. The waiter was not particularly responsive. I had made a special request to eliminate something on a particular dish, but I did not get what I’d asked for. No apologies.
I will definitely look forward to dining here again, but will pick menu selections more carefully and hope to have better service. The place is charming and offers a large selection of wine flights, as well as small plates that are generally very good.
This was our first time there. It had a good vibe, ambiance is great both indoor and out. They have an eclectic menu and an extensive wine list. The food and cocktails are very good, I can't say exceptional but the cost and quality is on par with other restaurants in the area. Will definitely go back for the outdoor dining and to explore other items on the menu.
I love this restaurant. The food is excellent, I’ve tried a variety of items and never been let down. Small plates good for sharing.
We sat outside this time which was peaceful and quiet, inside tends to be noisy and it’s hard to hold a conversation, but then again I’m usually busy enjoying the food and wine!
I have been here many times and love the food and wine selection. This time we tried something different. We had the heirloom tomato salad which was great. We had the burrata with toast and it was mediocre. They served it with a sweet dip which tasted just sweet. We didn't like it. We had the steamed clams. They were tasteless and were served in a red broth with a few particles of potato and vegetable. The broth was not good. What happened to some garlic with the clams? We finally had the short ribs with polenta. This was terrific. The wine was a Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand and it was served ice cold - really good. Our bill came to $50 a person for a small lunch that was mediocre.
ALTHOUGH MY FRIENDS AND I HAVE BEEN HERE MANY TIMES, THE FOOD WAS ESPECIALLY OUTSTANDING YESTERDAY FOR LUNCH. THE RISOTTO WITH ASPARAGUS AND SHITAKE MUSHROOMS WAS SMASHING, THE HEIRLOOM TOMATO SALAD REFRESHING, THE SCALLOPS SIMPLY DELICIOUS AND THE DESSERT SAMPLER THE PERFECT SIZE FOR 2 TO END A LOVELY MEAL.
My wife and I had an excellent lunch before catching a matinee musical at the Lesher Theater. The outside seating was perfect in that lt wasn't too hot and there was almost no breeze. I had the BLT and a side of Brussel sprouts while my wife had the beet salad and a burger. Our meal was very good as was our waitress. I especially appreciated her familiarity with the wine list as there was a rose' I wanted to try which was local, from Contra Costa County. I have been to Va Da Vie a number of times over the years and as a result of the above visit I will stop in more often.
