Tapas / Small Plates
Perfect For:
  • Tapas
  • Creative Cuisine
  • Notable Wine List
Va de Vi translates to "It's all about wine!" in Spain's Catalan language. Of course, it's all about food, too! Executive Chef Mike Fischetti's menu encourages diners to explore and share a variety of eclectic, international small plate portions. Bold tastes encourage diners to explore the large international wine list, easily navigated by tasting notes. Many wines are offered by the glass in addition to pre-arranged flights to allow diners to compare different wines and discover new favorites. A warm, casual elegance defines the ambiance. Outdoors, dine under an ancient oak tree or grab a table in the picturesque lane.

We eat here 3-4 times a year. It’s fabulous and was even more so this time. Heard they have a new chef so that may account for everything tasting fantastic!

Cauliflower-truffle soup
Fries w/ aioli
Grilled asparagus w/ black garlic sauce
Pork belly
Cod
Sticky toffee cake

Wines are a bit too pricey but the food is worth every penny!!

Excellent food, as always. Va da Vi never disappoints! My girlfriends and I loved the opportunity to taste new and wonderful wines and share small plates together. The shishito peppers were a hit at our table!

What a wonderful evening. Our waiter was readily available, but not intrusive. Wonderful wine list. I like the 3 oz. glasses for multiple wine tasting experiences. Excellent food! We'll return for our next special occasion. With wine, it is a bit pricey.

I've never had a bad meal here. The small plates are delicious and fun to share and the wine flights outstanding. It's even over the top when the weather is good and you can sit outside on the back deck by the huge tree.

Food continues to wow us. Wine selections spot on too. Still struggle with the small tables and sharing food. This is hard with 2 people, let alone the 4 of us.

Every dish we ordered (and we ordered way too many!) was really delicious. Portions were more generous than expected. While there was a little delay taking our order initially, the waiter was attentive after that. Lovely restaurant I will return to.

This is a special place to bring anyone for a birthday or anniversary. The food is creative, and the service is lovely. We made sure to come a little earlier than lunchtime, knowing how busy it can get. Well worth the time.

$70 for two miniature burgers and two glasses of wine is just extreme. It was a lovely setting but not something you would do frequently. Even though I enjoyed myself I left feeling as though I had wasted a lot of money

Oh Va de Vi, you delighted us...again! We haven't been eating much these days (after losing a lot of weight), so coming here was a perfect Easter meal for us! We enjoyed some amazing bites, and we got to share a wonderful dessert for 2. It was a perfect way to end the meal! Great job! Thank you for being here, and for always being consistent!

Wat a great find. We were visiting Walnut Creek for a wedding and sopped in for a really pleasant lunch outdoors on the patio. The staff is friendly and helpful, the food is outstanding, and the wine list is eclectic and very interesting. It was the most pleasant afternoon outdoor lunch that we had had in a long time.

Took my boyfriend for his birthday. Had never been there before. He loved the place. Food and drinks were good. Very friendly and quiet environment. Was nice and sunny so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the weather.

Lovely dining outside with the warm spring weather. Much better than my Saturday experience of sitting inside the restaurant on my neighbors lap. 😊

Unfortunately there were several hiccups in our dinner at this restaurant. First, after we asked for just 2 more minutes to settle on our main courses, the server ignored us for a very long time before taking our order (the appetizers came out, got eaten, and got taken away before she came back to our table). That was frustrating especially as she was standing right near us not doing anything the whole time, clearly not busy but also not looking over at us so we couldn't wave her down. Second, I asked if one of the dishes could be made without a certain ingredient; the server assured me that it could, so I ordered it. When it arrived at our table the ingredient was clearly present in the meal. Fortunately I don't have an allergy to the ingredient so I was able to just pick it out rather than send the meal back to be remade (which would have been a huge waste of food). But if I had been allergic and not noticed, that could have been seriously dangerous. I was disappointed by the overall poor service at this restaurant and likely won't return again.

First time fabulous find. Service was prompt and courteous. Our server was attentive and made excellent wine decisions for us. Small plates were beautiful and perfectly filling. The duck confit was delightful. Red Curry Chicken delicious and the desert profiteroles amazing. We are coming back again very soon!!

Fun evening. Unfortunately, we could not get the table we wanted, so it was a bit noisy. Food was very good, as usual, and the service great.

We have been to this restaurant many times. The food is good, the menu varies and the service is always excellent.

On our last visit we were seated for a few minutes and then realized that a dog (Lhasa Apso)was on the bench seat next to my wife. We felt that making an issue of the situation would damage our evening together so we ignored the dog. After the owner left I asked the server why a dog was allowed in the restaurant. He said the dog was a service dog. Doubtful at best. A service dog is defined as being specifically trained to provide a service. Emotional support is it included in the definition. At any rate restaurant policy is to let dogs go where they want to according to our server.

If you’re comfortable sitting next to somebody else’s dog while you eat then this is no big deal. If you aren’t comfortable with that arrangement consider another restaurant or ask to be reseated as the restaurant will not relocate the dog and its owner.

Fabulous. Had not been for several years because it was too hard to get in but made a reservation early and it was worth it! Food was outstanding. Small bites with a flair and tons of flavor beautifully presented. A must go.

Birthday dinner... lovely black cod. Enjoyed the green beans with miso butter - a new dish for Va do Vie. Our neighboring table ordered pomme frites which smelled divine. I love the wine sampler and the Lechon was, as always, delightful. Guava sorbet was intense! They brought a profiterole with REI candles for birthday celebration- delightful evening.

I thought that most of the dishes were excellent except one. The beet and blood orange was exquisite. I could have eaten that dish all day. The black cod was also excellent. The dish I liked the least was the seafood ramen. The ramen was drenched in oil - too heavy handed in this area. This was too bad as it took away from the food.

Was expecting the food to "knock my socks off" but that didn't happen. The meatballs said it included tzakiti sauce but there was only a drop of this on one of the meatballs. Why bother? Most dishes were too heavy and fatty. The pate should be more smooth, it was too crumbly. The octopus was ok but what it came with was uneventful. Would have been better with a light, refreshing type of side.
