About Va de Vi Bistro & Wine Bar
Va de Vi translates to "It's all about wine!" in Spain's Catalan language. Of course, it's all about food, too! Executive Chef Brad Zeller's menu encourages diners to explore and share a variety of eclectic, international small plate portions. Bold tastes encourage diners to explore the large international wine list, easily navigated by tasting notes. Many wines are offered by the glass in addition to pre-arranged flights to allow diners to compare different wines and discover new favorites. A warm, casual elegance defines the ambiance. Outdoors, dine under an ancient oak tree or grab a table in the picturesque lane.

Va de Vi Bistro & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
We ordered 5 food from their menu: brussel sprouts, lechon, grilled octopus, lumpia and ahi tartare. The lumpia, lechon and grilled octopus are the best! The brussel sprouts and ahi tartare are okay.. but overall the service, ambiance and food are excellent! Definitely would be back for another date night with my husband.
Both the waitress and the staff rushed us through every aspect of the meal - and is was not a busy Sunday afternoon - they hovered over us to try to take plates that were not even empty yet - three times we had to ask them to leave the food/drink on the table - I have been to this restaurant many times and have never been so rushed and rudely treated by the wait staff. Such a disappointment - the food is always superlative but they did NOT allow us to relax and enjoy to meal - frenzied, bizarre staff this visit
Overall this restaurant has good food with a nice presentation. However, we are gluten free and despite getting a gluten free menu and ordering from this menu, mistakes were made. This indicates that the restaurant team isn't cohesive and as attentive as you might expect. Our waitress was pleasant.
Great wine list. Food is ok...we had the butternut squash aracini and the pear and goat cheese custard. The aracini was a bit underwhelming - bland. The custard was good. I enjoyed my risotto.
We were kind of moved along by our waiter...we specifically asked if they needed the table and he said yes. So, we paid and tried to wait for a space at the bar so we could continue to have a drink. While we waited for a space at the bar, our table remained empty as well as two other tables. A bit disappointing as my friend and I could have stayed seated and ordered more drinks.
Got seated 25 mins late even with our reservation, then got Stuck at a small table that probably should have been for 2 people not 4. Food was good, wine was great. Sever seemed a little annoyed but I've been there plenty of times before to know that it's a good place to eat!
Absolutely our favorite small plates place! The menu changes regularly, but always incorporates fresh food, and some favorites. The cocktails are always fun, and the food always looks and tastes yummy.
It's a bistro style restaurant, with a narrow dining area and small outside eating space. Feels European and neighborhoody at the same time.
I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in a friends home. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The chicken red curry was amazing and the Trout was refreshing. The table was split on the Trout – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. Service was well-timed and friendly, wines were affordable."
Made reservations for 3 and got there a bit early, waited 5ish mins in their non existent waiting room, and was told that the table they had ready for us was taken by the group of people next to the table who invited more people to join them. The only table that was left was the table that was in front of the bathroom. Terrible.
Food was good, came out piping hot, but I wouldn't say that the plates were sizable enough to be shared by 3 people. We had one small bite each of each dish...
The waiter did not tend to us as I kept asking for my water glass to be filled and we had to move empty plates to the side. Although he was quiet attentive to the table next to us...
BUT this didn't stop the waiter from giving us our check when we didn't ask for it (while we were still eating our meal), and he came by and picked up said check (that was left on the table) when we didn't even put our cards in it.
After our 3 dish was on the table, the guys kept coming around every couple of mins asking if they could clear our plates, when we were clearly still working on the said plate. It was beginning to get annoying.
Not sure if this was an off night, but the terrible service we received left a sour taste in my mouth. Will not be coming back again.
We brought my parents here for a birthday celebration and unfortunately we booked an open table reservation 15 minutes before they were supposed to be closing early for rennovations. We were seated for our 7:15 reservation at 7:45, and were told the kitchen closed at 8pm. Waiter was very nice, but the food was not nearly as exceptional as visual. The portion of protein on the butterfish and short rib were laughable, and not enough for two, let alone 4. It's very clear they were moving through what they had left in the kitchen before their 4 day closure, and we got what was left. Overall it was a very disappointing experience, as I would have booked a table elsewhere had I known they were closing early.
I am a loyal customer eating at Va de Vi regularly. What a shock to have such poor service and not the typical wonderful food.
The server blamed the march but others who arrived after us were served. It was a full hour after we ordered before any food arrived. My friend received her food 25 min before me and then the dish we intended to share showed up. It was the Brussel sprouts which I had enjoyed 3 weeks ago but these were sloppy small portion and looked thrown together
Finally my meal came....my friend had been finished for some time. The food was not hot and bland
I hope this is an isolated incident heard they have a new chef. Hope out is not the future to expect
The food is extremely tasty. Each dish has its own unique flavor. The options are diverse and there is something for everybody. The service was friendly and the support staff is excellent. The outside is so cute and in the summer the place to dine. The bar knows how to make a good drink and fries are to die for. Give yourself a present and go!
I come here with my husband pretty regularly. We love sitting at the bar or outside. The food is always spectacular and the waitstaff service is always very prompt and attentive. Clean plates between dishes, water glasses (and wine!) always full. Can't say enough good things about Va Da Vi, once you get past the host(ess) stand. We almost always have a reservation as we frequent the restaurant during its most busy times-highly recommend not being a walk-in. This visit was not different. The hostess' here are almost always carry a fairly pretentious attitude, and I suppose that's ok. This night was different- almost palpable hostility towards us as we checked in. Restaurant is small and seating is tight. Our party of 4 checked in about 5 minutes early for our 7:30 reservation and were seated right next to the front door. Saw an empty 4 top further down and away from the gusts of cold air and requested we be reseated there...you would have thought I'd asked the hostess to gouge out her own eyes. She would have, too, had her eyes not been rolled so far back in her head while accommodating our request. After that bit of theatrics, it was smooth sailing, as always with terrific service! Just train your hosts at the front desk to respond with a bit more to decorum to reasonable diner requests and we'd be 5 stars all around!
Was moms birthday and had stated so when I made reservations 6 wks prior. Server brought out two chocolate soufflés that we pre ordered. He also had a cream puff with birthday candles but gave it to the table next door!!
Food was good as usual but service was not up to par. Needed to ask to order a couple times. Was not checked on mid meal.
Va de Vi is one of our favorite restaurants but the food wasn’t as good today (grilled Trout which is my favorite fish, ramen noodles too much ginger and vegetables and not enough soup and soba noodles). Few of our best were the lumpia and Ahi tuna sashimi type, in addition to the Ahi tuna tartar, but both were taken off the menu. I also missed the freshly baked cookie plate due to the Pastry Chef’s injury. Hope he recovers soon:) Thank you.
First time to Va de Vi and I must say it was overall a delightful dining experience. The outdoor setting is wonderful although the day we went was a bit cold and we had to dine inside. The small plates were all delicious and beautiful. The service was impeccable. Will be back again with friends and clients soon.
A little disappointing. Had dinner there to celebrate our 45th wedding anniversary. Pork belly was tough (usually so tender) and Brussel Sprouts we’re not hot. The scallops were awesome but the arrincini was very bland. We didn’t order dessert (almost everything took 20 minutes) but expected them to bring a celebration dessert. Oh well...maybe just an off night.
