Uva Enoteca Ratings and Reviews
Couldn't have had a better time. The staff was very accommodating as our group grew from 6 to 7 and our server was very attentive and gave us some great recommendations for food and drink. Had a great time, food was amazing and the overall experience was wonderful, I'll definitely be back for more.
Unfriendly hostess started to sit us at a worst table next to the toilet. When we asked for a better table she snapped at us. The food offered is very mediocre in preparation, presentation and taste. The wine list is huge but not good. Prices listed next up the wine were ridiculously high. Service was just ok but not superior. It was extremely loud , hot and stuffy at the dining room. Uncomfortable & small tables along with not such a gray food spoiled my Saturday completely. Looks like $120 for two will not but you a great experience any longer in SG.
Uva Enoteca is a rare value in very pricy San Francisco. Fantastic Italian wine list with our waiter describing each wine accurately. Decent wine prices with some variety. Well trained and very fast line chefs in a pretty small kitchen turn out great food. Menu is innovative Italian with lots of regional specialties. Small plates are well priced for the quality. Excellent entrees as well. Great find in the Haight. Don't try this without reservations....long lines and longer waits without.
The service was the worst I have experienced in many years. The servers seemed clueless and one of them even knocked one of my friends in the head pretty bad, and didn't even offer a glass or wine or anything to make up for it. We had to keep flagging servers down for service, we had to ask multiple just for bread for the table. Some things arrived without all of the dish components and they were brought to the table afterwards. It wasn't even very busy. It was a strange experience. The food was nothing special outside of the smoked burrata. We were all pretty disappointed, especially after seeing it got such great reviews.
The food was incredibly delicious and reasonably priced. I had the Smoked Burrata and an incredible Boar lasagna. Our server was delightful as well. She tended to us well, while giving us plenty of space to talk (business meal). This is a bonafide neighborhood gem. Enjoy!
Have been to Uva Enoteca no less than 6-7 times and have always enjoyed the food. Over our numerous visits we have sampled nearly everything on the menu and have overall, found everything tasty and well-presented. Service has always been good. Have to say though, I was disappointed that their amazing Chicken Diavolo was off the menu. That was my favorite dish and one of the best preparations of Chicken Diavolo I've had. I ordered the chicken thighs instead. They were good but not nearly as good as my missing dish. :(
We stopped in after touring the Legion of Honor Degas Exhibit. We really enjoyed the authentic Italian style cooking and ingredients. Great recommendations for accompanying wines with the meal. The atmosphere was fun and comfortable. The toughest part was limited street parking so allow time to circle the block. It looks like a great place for brunch - bottomless Bellini's! We have already recommended Uva Enoteca to friends.
It's not the greatest area of town but don't let that turn you off. This place is amazing! We had a reservation for 7:30 on a Saturday night but we weren't seated until 8:05. This is was due to another party staying well over 2 hours despite the staff trying to encourage them to get up. It wasn't a big deal for us and as a courtesy the restaurant gave us 2 free appetizers. One was a cold corn dish with cheese, fresh basil and grape tomatoes. It was amazing! I've never had corn and basil together and was pleasantly surprised. The second dish was a kale salad with cheese and chopped almonds and it was one of the best kale salads I've ever had! Definitely try the appetizers if you dine here.
For dinner we ordered 2 pizzas and the boar lasagna. All of them tasted great and we finished off all of it! Their tomato sauce is very good and the food tasted very fresh.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will come back on our next trip to SF.
We had the crostini with burrata, the boar lasagna, and the spicy salame pizza. The crostini was a bit over-toasted so it was hard to bite into, but the burrata was delicious. The boar lasagna was good, but nothing super special. The salame pizza was delicious and had tons of flavor. I would definitely go back to Uva Enoteca to try other items on the menu. The service was also excellent!
Fabulous food. Outstanding service. Bartender did a great job answering wine questions and helping with the right pairings. Food was delicious. Burrata special was very tasty and served with crostini. The lasagna was also great. Food came out piping hot and fresh. I personally also loved the pasta pomodoro. I loved the sauce. Simple classic and very fulfilling. Would definitely recommend and will be back to try pizza next time.
