The food at utsav was very good but the service was quite lacking.
Food was delicious although they had a limited menu. The staff was warm and welcoming as always.
We have come here for many years and most recently after a year and a half due to the pandemic. We have been finding that the main ingredients in the entrees that are in sauces are very meager with not enough main ingredient whether chicken or lamb and too much sauce. And given the prices this does not seem to be right. And this time the samosas which we generally like were much too pasty. Is something going on in the kitchen? We 'll probably give them another try but it may turn out to be the last.
Food was bad, service was HORRIBLE, ambience was sad. Not worth the price
The air conditioner was broken in the main dining room but they receded us in a side room to make up for it
Love this restaurant!! Highly recommend to anyone looking for quality Indian food in New York City!
Good was really good but very bad service the server wouldn’t even come to us
We had to keep going and calling the waiters to come and take our order. Long wait after food was ordered. Very poor service
Large upstairs dining room with windows facing two sides of the building on Ave of America’s. We chose four standard dishes from the menu and all were tasty without overwhelming heat or spicier. Seated promptly and served well by conscientious staff. Nothing fancy, just authentic, pleasant, reminiscent of meals past in South Asia.
Great service. Waiter gave me & hubby a big table for just us. Came over every few minutes to check on us and make sure we were comfortable. If you love Indian food this spot is the best place to be. This was my second time here & I love it. Perfect view and very clean. I can’t wait to have more experiences here with my hubby.
Had a delicious meal at Utsav on Thursday evening. Our waiter Kevin was extremely helpful with recommending the most scrumptious dishes. The service was top notch!
The air conditioner could have been better, but overall had a great time at Utsav and will surely return for the great tasting food!
Kevin was our server and he helped us choose the most amazing appetizer and entrees for us. Food was delicious! Beautiful restaurant! Attentive staff! We will come back again when we visit New York!
Everyone was friendly and some staff expressed their appreciation for our home country. Also, Kevin introduced some secret menus and made us made-to-order cocktails.
Really pleasant dinner in a modern setting. Just make sure you insist on "mild" if you are not into spicy food like a friend of mine.
Great experience and food. Mr. Perera made the experience very enjoyable.
The waiter(kevin) waitress was very nice and attentive in having us they had us laughing and felt welcome the whole time.. they enjoyed us so much they want us to come back
What an amazing anniversary celebration at Utsav! I am getting addicted to this food haven. We were dying for Utsav's new Indo-Chinese food along with our usual traditional favorites. Wow! I was transported back to Bar-B-Q in Kolkata (India), who I think are the true pioneers of popularizing Indo-Chinese cuisine. The flavors and tastes were perfect and to-die-for. Each dish was unique. Despite our stomachs bursting from over-eating, we also had our favorites from the Indian menu. The staff was super-attentive and gave us great tips on what to order, along with special treats as they knew we were there for a celebration. Utsav has truly maintained its wonderful standards and unique variety and tastes, despite the impact from Covid. For those who are keen about social-distancing during these COVID times, Utsav provides the added bonus of massive indoor space and covered outdoors, so you can be far away from other diners and have a safe and enjoyable time.
I was most excited about trying to butter chicken kulcha, and was even more pleased at how delicious everything was! One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve had in a long time.
Utsav is a great restaurant to try out Indian food at. Firstly, it is one of the most spacious restaurants I have come across in Manhattan. The ambience and entry to the restaurant is great. We were served by Kevin who is very lovely and chirpy and a great person to be served by. He really made time to chat with us and make us feel at ease and at home at Utsav.
Excellent experience. A must go restaurant!
Fantastic food. Our waiter Kevin was friendly and attentive. The butter chicken was to die for
Had my birthday dinner here for a party of 12. Dining room is large & spacious which is helpful now that indoor dining has returned. The staff was quite attentive, prompt & courteous. The food was delicious, especially the chicken tikka masala. I also enjoyed the kebabs, naan, & samosa. The chocolate cake I had for dessert was quite yummy. This was a great experience & I look forward to returning.
Really good food.
The food quality was very poor. They didn’t have many dishes from the menu available. The server was very quick to tell us that we have to leave at 9:30 when we ordered at 8:30 yet the food didn’t come out until 9:15. He made it seem like we were bothering him by being there. We will not be coming to this restaurant again.
Food and service were awesome and will definitely be back!
Finally good Indian food in nyc
The food was delicious! I was busy eating to take pictures. Our waiter was patient as I think I asked him a thousand questions with each order. Forgot the name of the cauliflower appetizer, but it was amazing! Ordered all vegetarian dishes and loved them. The mango lasi is delicious!
Service was excellent. Really liked all the dishes we tried, including Fish Tikka, Methi Matar Malai, Aloo Gogi and Dal Makhani. The Chai Mules were a big hit. Comfortable outdoor seating. We plan to go back again very soon.
This is a great place food wise but even more with location. The tables are located under concrete covering so if it rains you can still go out to dinner. Food was amazing . I definitely recommend
I've been to Utsav so many times over the years--usually for a pre-theatre dinner. I have always found the food to be exceptional. This time, due to the on-going crises, I assume, the caliber of everything was simply not the same. The outdoor seating we were given was at the 46th Street end of the terrace, dominated by the overwhelming din if an AC unit from the adjacent building. Also at that end was a sizeable group of homeless people. It was terribly uncomfortable. We asked to have our regular seats moved to the high tabletops. I missed the older, more mature, and more experienced servers from the past. The guys who waited on our table were pleasant but clearly confused. The food was o.k., but just o.k. I really want to support all of the dining establishments which are serving outdoors, but with prices going up and food standards going down, I'll cross Utsav off my list for now.
We went with no expectations, and we were pleasantly surprised, we used to come to this restaurant years ago, and now we will definitely go back, the food was very good, service was very pleasant, the goat biryani was excellent actually every main was very good, the Yellow dal was really exceptional, the Nan was very good but next time I would ask for it without the butter!
The food was very great, Just the ambiance outside is off! With all the people. Otherwise, it is a great option if you want to have amazing Indian food.
Thank You for your kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed dining with us & hope to see you here again soon!
Utsav always has amazing service and delicious food. I love bringing newbies to experience this delightful gem.
Lunch buffet was excellent mix of meat and vegetable dishes. Service and ambiance were wonderful!
Utsav is very spacious - and charming. The food is well prepared and plentiful. We particularly enjoyed the butter chicken and the coconut shrimp. The service was friendly and attentive. A very good experience.
The menu had the standard dishes prepared fresh and not too heavy. The wine list was robust. The staff was attentive. All in all, very good Indian food at a fair price.
Wonderful service, delicious food, received more food than expected.
This is a good but not great Indian restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty if not exciting. But it is literally next door to the Roundabout Theater, making it a perfect place for pre-theater dinner. I will definitely return for future theater evenings.
always reliable for wonderful food and drink. tried a few new things this time, including the tamarind margarita and the tandoori cornish hen, both of which were winners.
