Utsav is at a very good location and walkable if you are in the Times Square area. Food was great and service was very quick and humble given the place was almost full to its capacity. Food was little expensive but it's ok given the location. Overall, good place to dine in if you are in the times square area.
Food and drinks were outstanding. The ambiance was better than anticipated. Our first Christmas without one of our patriarchs was special and our waitstaff was fitting.
We didn’t like the fact that we were told before we sat that the kitchen was closing in 5 minutes - that could’ve waited until we sat.
We would definitely revisit!!!!
Well, we waited for almost 15 mins after getting our seat so that someone can come and give us water and menu card.
Seems 5 staff is a lot more to serve almost 40-50 ppl inside the restaurant
Loved it as always but are disappointed that they no longer serve poori!!
The secret hidden treasure of Manhattan. What amazing food. Just perfect
Very cozy dining experience. The hostess checked our vaccination status before showing us to our reserved table. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. The staff was very friendly. Felt very safe. Highly recommended.
Mediocre at best. Service was slow, chicken tikka Masala average. I was eating alone and they automatically added 18% gratuity. Will not dine there again.
Food was incredible especially the lamb shanks and chicken garlic kebab! Wow! The service was adequate - no personality with the waiter who wore his mask under his nose! They automatically charge 18% service - maybe the waiter didn't feel he needed to work too hard. The wait staff - water and busing - was very good.
Great food. Great service.
Very salty food, overpriced, need to wait a long time for the waiter (order food, get the food, get the bill)
Half the staff was running around not wearing masks. Beware!!!
Excellent food and staff
Executive Dinner Party
Environment without any comfort or ambiance. OpenTable advertising does not portray the restaurant's reality.
Good indian food, acceptable service, nothing else to offer.
overall great, had trouble finding it. As its in the back of the building. Ambiance is amazing. Food was great but overall pricey for the amount we received. One of the best Indian restaurants in NYC.
Good atmosphere and good food. Family friendly
Food very tasty, location convenient to New York midtown activities; expansive menu selection
The food took over an hour to arrive. The naan was cold, which defeats the purpose of ordering naan. The ambience isn't as nice as in the photos. It's sort of obnoxious that they make you order rice separately on a $22 dish, and they should've advised us that one rice would have been enough for the two dishes we ordered. The Chicken Tikka Masala was very tasty, but the Chicken Saffron was tasteless, and they used too much dark meat and fatty pieces of chicken in that dish. The restaurant was available for a last minute reservation and is in a convenient location, so my advice would be: order the chicken tikka masala with one rice, share that for two people, and tell them you're in a big hurry when you sit down and ask them to bring the check with the food. The Mango lassi was also good.
Went before theater. Place has gotten a little run down. Staff were harried and disorganized. Fiord was ok.
Food was excellent, staff very attentive, but not intrusive. Glad to see that restaurant was busy, but socially distanced.
I took my team for dinner. We loved it. The food was delicious and service was very good.
Overall very good. Ambience is old. Good quality is good.
Food was excellent.
Excellent food, service. Will definitely return
Good food and service. High chairs for kids.
Having been to India many times, Food was authentic tasting and excellent prepared and presented. Food kept coming out in a timely manner, no waiting and no hunger pains!
Attentive and quick service.
While the menu was not as comprehensive as at some other Indian restaurants, there was still a good selection, and we enjoyed the lemon biriyani, lamb saag, okra masala and olive&pepper naan. For a spicy variant of a margarita, try their Devil's Martini!
As a Manhattanite and avid theatergoer we have passed by Utsav for many years thinking it’s too big and commercial to visit. Wow were we wrong! Having visited India numerous times, we found the cuisine terrific and authentic, The staff was, for the most part, excellent. We will definitely visit again, especially since the restaurant itself is spacious enough to feel pandemic safe,
Would go back again!
I came into Manhattan for Thanksgiving. Found the restaurant on google and made reservation based on that. Service was friendly, good amount of spice, and large portions. Overall, an affordable and tasty dinner in central location.
This restaurant is wonderful. The food is delicious. We've been twice and would DEFINITELY go back.
Food was fantastic, service was slow, disorganized and extremely pushy/dismissive. Get food to go and you'll be OK. Don't recommend eating in.
Very poor service.
The main guy was not friendly at all. Some of the others were.
We waited a long time to order and had to ask for someone to take it finally.
The goat biryani was delicious but was 70% bone and 30% meat which was a meager amount of meat for $25.
No one came for a long time to ask if we wanted the check. Had to ask the main guy who took his own sweet time again.
Food was excellent. Great view of NYC. The chicken signature dish was great.
Lovely evening and nice food.
The food at Utsav is outstanding. It is a great place in midtown for a reasonably priced, great meal. Because of that it gets packed and they seem to be suffering from the general difficulty in hiring. It took ages for our food to come and it was hard to get the attention of the waiter. But still, I will return as I have for years because the food is so good!
They did not check vaccine records. This is unfortunate and did not leave us feeling safe.
Food was great, but the service left a lot to be desired. We were first greeted by a gruff employee who seemed annoyed that we had a reservation. During our meal, we were asked almost every five minutes if we were ready for the check as if we were being hurried through our meal. It made for an awkward evening.
