Food was way too spicy even though we asked them not to make it so spicy! Cocktails were disgusting

Lunch for two included vindaloo, chicken tikka masala, rice and rosemary naan. All were very well prepared. I recommend and will repeat.

The ambience and service are good. My meal however was just ok. I initially ordered the sea bass rasa and was very disappointed. It was a tiny portion , fried, which is not noted on the menu and which I wouldn't have ordered had I known, and sitting in a large plate of some kind of creamy sauce. I had to send it back and the restaurant had no problem getting me something else. Kudos for that. I then got the lamb Rogan Josh which was better . My friend had chicken zaffrani which was also mediocre. Cauliflower appetizer Lazuni Gobi was good. I went there because I had been to a reception there a couple of years ago, and the food was terrific. So, I was very disappointed that my meal didn't live up to that experience.

Love coming here for great Indian cuisine for pre-theater dinner. Easy walk to most Broadway shows. Great service.

Utsav is conveniently located near the Theater District and is practically the only Indian restaurant in that area. It is elegantly spacious and nicely decorated, with a bar area downstairs and the main dining room upstairs. The food is a bit unusual in that the cornish game hen tandoori dish was crispy and spicier than typical. We enjoyed the fried cauliflower appetizer although it was perhaps a bit too sweet. Garlic naan was delicious as was the lamb shank. Be sure to tell the wait staff if you have tickets to a show to be sure of prompt service.

The buffet was mostly left unattended for long periods, with entire entrees missing.

Service was non existent, chaotic and slow.

Hostess initially seated us next to a pile of construction waste, until we requested to move.

Our dinner at Utsav was very good, better than I remembered the restaurant being the first time I went a while ago. We had some dishes we knew, and some dishes we had never had before, all were tasty. Service was excellent; definitely ask for recommendations about some of the more unusual dishes and try them. It is a bit more expensive than most Indian restaurants - the location contributes to that - but in that neighborhood Utsav is well worth the price.

While all of the dishes (cauliflower, spinach, eggplant, lamb) we ordered were delicious, the portion size for the vegetable appetizers was less than adequate. We even reordered the crispy cauliflower since it was so good but not enough was put on the plate. Our server Queenie was excellent, friendly and efficient. We were very pleased overall and satisfied for the value received. This is an excellent choice for pre-theatre fare.

We live in DC but always make a point of having a meal at Utsav when we are in NYC. The lamb vindaloo is the best I have ever had, anywhere, period. They have re-done the dining room since the last time we were here, and the decor is more modern. The seating is comfortable and the noise level such that conversation is easy. Usually easy to snag a reservation, too.

Refined Indian cuisine, gracious service -- a Theatre District winner. And if you dine after curtain time, the noise abates dramatically.

Utsav never disappoints. Food is always excellent. Can ask to modify spice level on some dishes, or just try something new! Lasuni Gobi appetizer is addictive, a good introduction. Service is attentive, seating is comfortable.

We went for the lunch buffet. The food was very good, including choice and taste. The staff was friendly and attentive. Although the place was packed (Friday lunchtime), they were prompt in service including removal of plates. The place was well decorated and very clean and comfortable. I would highly recommend.

Bad value. Mediocre food flavor. EXTREMELY poor service. Almost onehour to receive food in empty restaurant ( our 4 & 2 more). We know a tourist sham when we experience one.
