Really good food.
The food quality was very poor. They didn’t have many dishes from the menu available. The server was very quick to tell us that we have to leave at 9:30 when we ordered at 8:30 yet the food didn’t come out until 9:15. He made it seem like we were bothering him by being there. We will not be coming to this restaurant again.
Food and service were awesome and will definitely be back!
Finally good Indian food in nyc
The food was delicious! I was busy eating to take pictures. Our waiter was patient as I think I asked him a thousand questions with each order. Forgot the name of the cauliflower appetizer, but it was amazing! Ordered all vegetarian dishes and loved them. The mango lasi is delicious!
Great service
Service was excellent. Really liked all the dishes we tried, including Fish Tikka, Methi Matar Malai, Aloo Gogi and Dal Makhani. The Chai Mules were a big hit. Comfortable outdoor seating. We plan to go back again very soon.
This is a great place food wise but even more with location. The tables are located under concrete covering so if it rains you can still go out to dinner. Food was amazing . I definitely recommend
I've been to Utsav so many times over the years--usually for a pre-theatre dinner. I have always found the food to be exceptional. This time, due to the on-going crises, I assume, the caliber of everything was simply not the same. The outdoor seating we were given was at the 46th Street end of the terrace, dominated by the overwhelming din if an AC unit from the adjacent building. Also at that end was a sizeable group of homeless people. It was terribly uncomfortable. We asked to have our regular seats moved to the high tabletops. I missed the older, more mature, and more experienced servers from the past. The guys who waited on our table were pleasant but clearly confused. The food was o.k., but just o.k. I really want to support all of the dining establishments which are serving outdoors, but with prices going up and food standards going down, I'll cross Utsav off my list for now.
We went with no expectations, and we were pleasantly surprised, we used to come to this restaurant years ago, and now we will definitely go back, the food was very good, service was very pleasant, the goat biryani was excellent actually every main was very good, the Yellow dal was really exceptional, the Nan was very good but next time I would ask for it without the butter!
The food was very great, Just the ambiance outside is off! With all the people. Otherwise, it is a great option if you want to have amazing Indian food.
Thank You for your kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed dining with us & hope to see you here again soon!
Utsav always has amazing service and delicious food. I love bringing newbies to experience this delightful gem.
Lunch buffet was excellent mix of meat and vegetable dishes. Service and ambiance were wonderful!
Utsav is very spacious - and charming. The food is well prepared and plentiful. We particularly enjoyed the butter chicken and the coconut shrimp. The service was friendly and attentive. A very good experience.
The menu had the standard dishes prepared fresh and not too heavy. The wine list was robust. The staff was attentive. All in all, very good Indian food at a fair price.
Wonderful service, delicious food, received more food than expected.
This is a good but not great Indian restaurant. The food is fresh and tasty if not exciting. But it is literally next door to the Roundabout Theater, making it a perfect place for pre-theater dinner. I will definitely return for future theater evenings.
always reliable for wonderful food and drink. tried a few new things this time, including the tamarind margarita and the tandoori cornish hen, both of which were winners.
Good buffet. Sauces are unique. Lovely room on 2nd fl
Nice atmosphere, good food for not being in India. Mild - probably adjusted to the western world.
We couldn’t have been happier with this restaurant. We enjoyed exploring around the menu and noted a diverse prefix menu. Would go back again in a heartbeat. The service was impeccable. We arrived after it opened and had plenty of time to leisurely complete our meal in a quiet environment.
A great location in the theater district. Definitely not your local Indian restaurant. Food is more gourmet and prices are higher. Because the portions are substantial, sharing dishes makes sense. Diner needs to remember that everything is extra and nearly all dishes come without rice, sides, veggies, chutney, etc. For some, the prix fixed dinner may really be worth it. Highly recommend the mango mousse for dessert!
Thanks for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed dining with us & hope to see you here again soon!
Great and plentiful food at a fantastic price for Midtown Manhattan.
Thanks for your kind review!
Food was super nice! Service and ambiance perfect!
Really recommended
The restaurant has a nice ambience especially in the daytime. The seats around the huge arch window get a bright blue light which contrasts with the indoor lighting and gives a nice warm yet sophisticated effect. The food is quite okay. Not the best but also surely not the average. I'd recommend this place and would consider going again.
Very good Indian restaurant, the majority of the customers present were Indian which is a good guarantee of quality. Just the boss who was a little too eager to take the order, now in NYC people are faster. The prices are Manathan's prices.
Thanks for your review!
Excellent food, service and ambiance. We ordered multiple appetizers and entrees. All were delicious. We would definitely recommend this restaurant and will return when back in town.
We are so glad you enjoyed dining with us & hope to see you again soon!
Dinner prix fixe is a great value, and the food is excellent. Lamb dish was tasty, so was chicken. Great selection of starters and mango mousse was a great, light finish to the meal.
Thanks for your 5 STAR review of Utsav. We look forward to seeing you here again soon!
I had their prix fixe dinner. I chose the chicken lentil soup, followed by lamb rogan josh, and the mango mousse. Everything was delicious.
We are so happy you enjoyed our prix fixe menu. Hope to see you here again soon!
This is a wonderful restaurant! A great place to meet prior to a Broadway show. You are not rushed here, and you can have a great conversation with your friends. The food is excellent and the service is awesome! We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here and would come again gladly!
Hope to see you here again soon!
I've been here quite a few times. The food, presentation, and service are great
Hope to see you here again soon!
Wonderful curries! Will be back!!

Good service and tasty food. Nice place to visit with family and friends.
Thanks for your 5 STAR review!
Excellent service and food. Will be our go to Indian restaurant when going to the theater.
A new find, wonderful food and service. Look forward to a return visit when once again in NYC.
We chose Utsav based on recommendations from relatives. Located in the heart of midtown, it has a warm friendly atmosphere. The dining area is conveniently located a floor above the cozy welcoming bar in the main floor.
The menu offers a change from standard Indian fare, retaining, with twists, the essential staples. To start off, the tandoori broccoli, corn & mango bhel, crispy cauliflower were outstanding. Amongst the delectable entrees, Chicken Bharta, Goa shrimp and sea bass stood out.
A superb finish with deserts left us over satiated. For a delightful surprise, try creme brûlée' - and its concealed GulabJamun inside.... Congratulations to Nandita Khanna , her chef & staff !!
In my view slightly overpriced liquor and glass of wine. Veg seekh kabab was tasteless. But all other items (appetizers, dals, lassi, biryani, naan, paratha, and three different subjis) had great finger licking authentic Indian taste.
Bottom line, tasty food with good service at reasonable price. I will try again but will not hesitate to return items that do not match menu-description.
Great spot to eat and the service is not disappointing
Lovely place. Food outstanding. Good value
Food and service were great!
