With a curated menu of elevated tailgate fare and an extensive bar program, Utopian Tailgate delivers high times, chill vibes, and an unforgettable experience where the party never ends... and neither do the views.

Perched high atop Piper's Alley, above world-famous comedy enclave The Second City, Utopian Tailgate is Chicago's best never-ending rooftop party. Super-sized Jenga, drinking games, disco dance party, and a whole lot more mix with elevated eats and whimsical whistle-wetters all year ‘round.

Reservations are encouraged, but we always accept walk-ins until we reach capacity. Reservations will be held for 15 minutes. We offer indoor and outdoor table reservations, as well as party booths (with minimum required spend). We're a 21+ venue.

On a non-weekend night, this spot is still lively but not as much of a hardcore party, which we loved! The cocktails are incredible, and the food is surprisingly fantastic. The chocolate fan and mini churros have no right becoming our new favorite dessert order...but they're that good! Highly recommend grabbing a reservation on a Monday-Wednesday if you want a date night or small group night that's not as busy/packed :) Service was wonderful, and the rooftop vibe (especially outside) is very fun, contemporary, and laid back.

I booked for an indoor experience for 8 people. Got there and they placed us outside and no heaters were provided. When asked they said that they were aware we had an indoor reservation but an indoor wedding party of 90 people booked the inside seating and we had to be placed outside. Unprofessional and very rude service

Will definitely not be coming back here! Had a reservation for 715, we got seated outside as I preferred and nobody came around for at least 10 minutes. I asked the hostess to move us inside and then proceeded to ask the question of whether or not we get served here. She said “you do, that’s my fault I never told your server.” So we move inside, she tells our server we’re there, and another 10-15 minutes roll around and nobody has come to our table. Mind you the inside was completely dead, we were the only table. A server that wasn’t doing anything and wasn’t ours apparently, came over to ask if we’d been served yet and brought us over water. We explained the situation and she said she’d get our server. Server never came for a third time, so we just moved to the bar. We ordered our food, an app and two entrees. One of the entrees comes first and then 10-15 minutes go by and our app and other entree are still not there. The bartender went to get it and we can finally enjoy everything, about an hour after our initial reservation time. We start eating and find a piece of some type of wrapper in our food. The bartender told us the manager would come over and explain to us and hear us out for how the night had been going, he never came to speak to us. Someone else just came to tell us our meal was going to be free, which rightfully so at that point. After speaking more with the bartender he was trying to convince us to write a good review since they made up for the mistakes. At this rate we’re already upset and you’re asking for a good review? Absolutely not, the gesture was nice but not an excuse for the way we were treated in the first place. Will never be returning to this place!

The atmosphere was very fun. The staff were great and very friendly. The food was ok, over priced and not worth it. The drinks were great.
