Interesting unhurried dinner, ordering small plates as wanted. Friendly, available, helpful, welcoming service. Excellent food and well presented. The staff knows the story of each dish.
Wow. Excellent experience. Such tasty and beautiful food. The fried eggplant may have been the best.
Urdeneta is a place I most highly recommend! Each special dish makes an impression. Great wine. Excellent service. You couldn't ask for more!!
Absolutely phenomenal as usual. Aundre is bar none, the best server in PDX, and Javier and Jael provide some of the best dining around.
First time visit on first trip to Portland. Definitely a great choice to try Urdaneta. The waiter was a lot of help with the choice and number of dishes. Flavors were fantastic. Love the open kitchen. A nice warm vibe through the meal.
This tiny restaurant delivers one delicious & creative meal. The dishes not only tasted incredibly fresh & delightful, they were beautiful. My husband who tends to shy away from anything he hasn't tasted before, was as enthusiastic as the rest of us!
A standby, we love this restaurant! I’ve reviewed before, but can never say enough great things about the food staff and owners!
got accommodated at the last minute. very intimate, staff is very friendly and caring. Food was great, you should try the lamb.
Favorite Portland restaurant. Every dish on the menu is wonderful!
Food was great and service outstanding. We had out of town guests who were very impressed.
Lovely food and great service. We’ll be back!
Care was taken: selection of ingredients, innovative preparation, attentive presentation.
Not only our best meal in Portland, but perhaps our best meal EVER! Thank you Aundre and crew - we will never forget the night you gave us!
We love everything about Urdaneta! The bikini is the best grilled cheese you’ll ever have. The king mushroom dish is a heavenly experience. Best of all, the entire experience never fails to take us back to Spain.
Our fifth time at Urdaneta - and we live in western Massachusetts! We have a meal here with friends and family every time we’re in town. I can’t say enough good things about the food and service. Bravo!!
Urdaneta FAR surpassed our expectations. Possibly the best tapas style food we've ever had, and are already trying to figure out when we can go back. We were blown away. Our server was also outstanding. Nothing but positive things to say. The restaurant is slightly loud, but nothing that isn't tolerable. We can't wait to go back.
Everything lived up to the hype! The food was spectacular as were the cocktails and our server was very nice, attentive, but not overly attentive and super helpful when deciding what to eat and drink. We are looking forward to our next meal there.
Wonderful dining experience! We went with high expectations and were not disappointed.
Excellent tapas, great wine selection and such an enthusiastic and knowledgeable service team.
Try the Pulpas, the lamb, the mushrooms..try it all!
Romantic, cozy and oh so down to earth.
Interesting menu - took us right back to San Sebastián!
Incredible tapas restaurant in Alberta neighborhood. We shared 6 dishes and each was delicious. Our waiter said that the fried eggplant changed his life (he now grows them), and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Save room for dessert - the cheesecake and funnel cake were amazing.
Very well crafted food bites. The chef is very creative.
Outstanding menu and service. The food is superb!
We love small portions. They allow us to taste so many flavors, textures, and combinations. However, it's rare that tasting menus are equally outstanding from end-to-end. In the case of Urdaneta, it was sensational. Sure, the tuna and melon dishes, as 'bland' as my description is here, were on just a different level but everything was truly outstanding. Moreover, the prices were extremely reasonable. (Obviously, prices are relative but at this end of the food spectrum, we felt prices were more genuinely reasonable.) Urdaneta gets our unqualified vote!
Make sure to place this on your "must do" list of restaurants to visit in Portland. The service and food was outstanding! Top marks to our host/server André and to Chef Javiar for an amazing and very memorable culinary experience
The food at Urdaneta was outstanding and very creative. The ambiance and seating very enjoyable. However, we were surprised and disappointed by the time limits on tables. We were told that we had a finite amount of time before the next reservation was scheduled. We’ve never in all our travels and dining around the world ever been given a time limit on dining. Very distracting from the overall and otherwise good experience
AMAZING food and servers were so kind. This is a must do in Portland.
Great food and attentive staff. Pretty tight quarters and loud.
Urdaneta is, I believe, one of the most under-appreciated restaurants in this city. I'm always shocked when it doesn't show up near the top of the Best Of lists. We usually choose to do a chef's tasting menu and have never (not once in more than 10 visits) been disappointed. The food and service are absolutely top notch. I always feel like I'm away from Portland and dining in an intimate little neighborhood spot somewhere in Spain. Visit once and you will be back again and again.
Urdaneta was really good. The dishes were inspired and had a lot of character - definitely not 5 star excellent/ridiculous, but very good, especially for the price - I would say an excellent value. The staff was excellent and very accommodating - everyone seemed to want to be working there and genuinely interested in patron enjoying their experience at the restaurant as well as the meal - very pleasant place to be.
We had a fun meal, ordering and sharing little plates.
My wife and I agreed that Urdaneta was exactly the right choice for celebrating our anniversary. Our server gave us plenty of time to evaluate the menu and made great suggestions when we asked. We don't take pictures of our food, but we should have - the presentation of each dish was excellent, surpassed only by the array of delicious flavors. Can't wait to share the experience again, but with friends next time!
Service was great and so was the food!
We were touched by the personal service and attention to detail provided by Javier and his amazing staff. They listened and unexpectedly lifted a great dinner into the stratosphere. It’s no wonder that their restaurant is so highly rated. Thank you so much to the Urdaneta team.
I've eaten at Urdaneta a few times and enjoy it very much. This time we enjoyed the happy hour menu and the selections were excellent. The sangria was especially great!
Love this restaurant! Always great food, great ambience, and superb service!
Food was good, especially vegetables. The eggplant was phenomenal! Don’t miss the cheesecake.
Chef Javier's dishes are unique, always changing and among the most delicious in this city. Hi wife, Jael, keeps the front of the house running smooth and service is excellent.
Remarkable combinations of flavors! Who thought fermented peach would work on gazpacho? Delicious! The only criticism is that I would have liked more!
Terrific food, service excellent, feels like Barcelona or San Sebastian: informal and getting excited place!
Good happy hour menu. Great seasonal sangria, excellent manhattan--ask about the vermouth! Tapas are creative, flavorful and well-prepared. Segundos portions are on the small side but delicious and enough to share. The Setas Confitadas was delicate and a great combination of textures and flavors.
