Worst french toast I've ever had, pretty sure it was made of rubber. They forgot the side of fruit that comes with it, so when I reminded the server he came back with a pathetic plate of just two small strawberries. Seitan and waffles is overpriced and undersized, especially for mediocre waffles. The only positive part of the dining experience was the mac n cheese, which was delicious but not worth the trip. Overall, bad experience and would not go again or recommend.
Food was amazing! Ambiance and setting was awesome
Food was great, service was slow
Food was great!! Service was good just a bit slow but super friendly.
Overall a good place. The food was good and filing but some things could have used some more flavor/spices.
Very good first experience! Good music (not live) playing!
Brilliant. The food was so delicious, staff were so friendly with quick service, the vibe of the space - the music, the decor, the lightning.... the whole package. I wish I lived in New York - I’d be a regular!
Heat dinner! Varied menu. I had the green curry and the hot wings. Wow! The brownie dessert and mud pie were amazing! Definitely would go back
This place is great for a nice vegetarian meal with a bar/restaurant ambiance. All the food was delicious.
Amazing dinner at this well-established vegan eatery, which I just visited for the first time. Not only was the food outstanding, so , too, was the ambiance and the service. Really incredible dining experience on all fronts, and I'll be back for more!
This was my second visit and I had the “chicken” and waffles which was absolutely delicious.
The food was amazing. The jackfruit quesadilla and butternut squash ravioli were my favorite dishes from the meal. The drinks were fun. The only thing that was annoying was the wait. We put in a reservation for 8pm and got there at about 8:03pm and were told that the table wasn’t ready yet. No big deal, thought it would be about a 10min wait. The restaurant is very small so we waited outside and told the hostess where we would be. It was 8:24pm no update and we were beginning to get cold from waiting outside. I asked the hostess what was going on and she said she was waiting for a table to finish up. She then tried to seat a 3 person party at a two person table in the middle of the walkway between the hostess stand, door and walkway to get into the restaurant. I told her that would not work and she found a different table. The hostess was very nice but could pay a little more attention to detail. Overall it was a good experience.
Urban Vegan Kitchen is an epic choice for vegans and non-vegans alike! We looooved the Caesar salad with the buffalo seitan (swap for the regular) and the jackfruit quesadillas. Great vibe and incredible service. Definitely will go back!
Went here for my 25th birthday and had a good experience. The Hush puppies are bomb!
The meals were delicious, the staff was across-the-board friendly and knowledgeable, the ambiance was laid-back and welcoming, and the price was more than fair given the overall quality of the evening. Neither of us are vegan, but we both adored this restaurant.
This place was really awesome. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was really fun. Great customer service. The DJ played all the music I like.
We had vegan friends in from out of town. We love Blossom Chelsea but couldn't get a reservation. This was our first, but not last, visit to UVK. There is a small bar and dining room upstairs and another dining room downstairs with a DJ set up. We ate downstairs. The atmosphere was fun, but we could talk. The staff was attentive without hovering. The food was great.
We will be back!!
It appearz they changed the recipes on certain menu items such as the mac and cheese and the rice that comes with the tacos definitely was changed unfortunately I did not like the change at all the rice use to be one of my favorite sides here. The service was a disappointing I asked to have my boyfriend and my table changed due to the close proximity to the entrance and constant movement and was told they could do that. The restaurant has changed a lot service staff and food. 😕
Consistently brilliant vegan southern inflected comfort food steeped in awesome atmosphere.
Tasty food, but pricey. Small portions, slow service and deafening music. But again food was delicious and ambiance very hip, village scene.
The tacos were delicious and the portion was generous.
Portions were small. Dishes were uninspired, lack seasoning, expensive for what you got. Service was extremely slow. I had spaghetti with pesto and it took them 40 mi urea to prepare. Bright spots: staff was friendly and the Brussels sprouts were good.
Great food! We’re never disappointed when we come here.
Good food but the grilled cheese and fries were cold when we got them.
UVK is the ultimate vegan spot in Manhattan. A shame it's not closer to my residence in the Bronx lol, but it is worth the 45 min. subway ride down to the Village. So many great selections on the menu...starters and main entrees. They have a great assortment of natural juices and wine selections. The atmosphere is low key and great for quiet conversation. Even when a DJ is on hand, the music is at a nice level to where your conversation is not dominated. I have been several times already and recently brought my non-vegan friend and wife. They were amazed at the taste and are anxious to come back!
I had been here once before, but was looking forward to finally trying their vegan chickun and waffles! It did not disappoint! It was delicious and my date was envious of my plate. Next time we come by we’re both getting that dish. Their desserts are great too!
Urban Vegan Kitchen is owned by the same restaurant group that owns Blossom, the well-known Vegan restaurant chain. In general this restaurant mimics regular favorites like quesadillas, lasagna, mac and cheese, etc with Vegan alternatives. Personally, I would prefer more vegetable-only dishes, rather than dishes laden with artificial cheese, seitan and tempeh. That said - my favorite dish, the rainbow rolls, is a delicious, fresh, assortment of vegetables in an asian-inspired delivery. That is my go-to along with sides of brussel sprouts and cauliflower.
One word - AMAZING! Went with 2 other friends for brunch on Saturday. Everything we ordered was good! Chickpea Hushpuppies, Fried Okra, Mc and Cheese, Shrimp Po Boy, Chick-un and Waffles, Breakfast sandwich, Brownie and Cookie bar (we hadn't eaten all day)! Lemon Lavender Mimosa was so refreshing and lite! Such a great combination. Highly recommend for vegans and non-vegans alike. You will not be disapponted!
Went here to celebrate my birthday and loved the experience. Great cocktails . Food was great and was done within an hour even with dessert. Service was pretty fast and our hostess was really helpful and friendly
I’m vegan and my boyfriend is not but we both love to try vegan restaurants in NYC. The spot is cute but the food was so subpar. It’s nothing special. Both our plates (burger and the curry) reminded us of food we could cook at home. Especially at high(ish) NYC prices, we will not be coming back. Service was fair but the place is pretty loud so we couldn’t really hear our waitress. Bottom line, honestly if you’re looking for a vegan spot in west village, head to bychloe. This place is a snooze.
Food was incredible. Will be back again.
It was my first time at this place and it was lovely! The service was great and the food was delicious! The drinks were good too and I loved the atmosphere! The decor was awesome and I’ll definitely be going back again! Recommend for yummy vegan eats!
The best vegan in town! And we have been to a few. None too this! Thank you!
Excellent, best Vegan BLT ever❤️We will be back soon
Terrific vegan food and great service. I would definitely go back there.
Brunch menu is so good! Chicken&Waffles is a must try. Also the Po Boy. We’ve been coming here since it was Blossom on Carmine. But really like the menu now at UVK. They changed the upstairs configuration since we were here last. Bigger bar area on the right with high seating going towards the window. Felt a bit smaller losing the tables. Good service Good Food.
OUTSTANDING! I am a vegan and I went with my 3 “non vegan” friends - & they all loved it too!! YUMM😊
The Chicken and Waffles were outstanding! Very cool ambience and the service was timely and friendly.
Delicious as always
Urban Vegan Kitchen is a kitschy neighborhood gem. The service was absolutely wonderful and so friendly. They also have great music and a relaxing atmosphere, which, when combined with amazing vegan food, is a great match.
