We went for the steak. It was good, but not great. Not worth the price. The fries were boring and not very flavorful. McDonalds has better fries. Everything was à la carte.

Everything was delicious- the cornbread, popcorn grits and the brownie thing that comes in a jar that had us all fighting because we only ordered one- were the highlights. The only hiccups were they were reluctant to split checks (we had 5 checks and some guests drank and I had ordered appetizers and dessert and wanted to take care of that) and one of the guests who was recovering from surgery couldn't just order a smaller meal (he wanted an egg and some hollandaise or something along that line) The server was wonderful- I felt like she might have been encumbered by company policy with the check and the request for a smaller meal- but it all worked out.
I have been a couple of times now and will definitely come back.

I have dined at Urban Farmer many times now and I’ve always been impressed. The food is always top notch and the staff is knowledgeable and professional, which I think is essential at an upscale restaurant. I always enjoy the variety and expertise of the wine list as well.

The big disappoint of the night for us was the table we were seated at, despite having made a reservation a week prior. The table itself was tiny, it was way in the back of the restaurant, and it was shoved completely against a wall (with jars of food on display). We spent over $300 that night on dinner and drinks for two, and unfortunately the terrible seating is the most memorable thing.

We still had a decent time, as the food and service is always excellent. But I can confidently say that I never want to spend that kind of money on food and wine and be that uncomfortable ever again.

We found the food overpriced and a bit typical. The restaurant was extremely noisy as well. It was near impossible to caring on a conversation. We asked to move tables and were told by our waiter that the restaurant was full despite many open tables.

Really awesome ambiance in the “courtyard” of the hotel. The food was on point and excellent. Service was great too. Wine list is way over priced though. Bummer. Overall I would recommend

Nice atmosphere, love the high ceiling with natural light. Great service, eggs benedict very good! Great coffee as well. Will go back again for lunch and/or dinner.

First and last time here. Service was pathetic, our hostess spent more time with us than our waitress and even that wasn’t much. No one ever asked if we enjoyed our food or needed anything else. We were sat and it was ten minutes before we were asked if wanted drinks— by the hostess. Food would be reasonably priced if it came with excellent service otherwise whats the point. There are too many fantastic restaurants in Portland to ever waist you time here.

We had a baby, which I noted on our reservation, and they seemed bothered trying to accompany her. Hostess was nice, but it was very obvious that having a baby in this environment was wrong. Easter is a family holiday. Having children at an Easter brunch is going to happen. We come here every year. This is the first w a newborn. We felt somewhat unwelcome because of the Baby. I wish they would have made it more clear that small children are not welcome.

The meal was wonderful. Terrific quality ingredients, prepared in a very comforting yet creative manner. Some of the best quality meats and vegetables I have had in recent memory. My only one qualm was regarding a special request made to the staff earlier in the day regarding the dinner being a celebration of my anniversary. No acknowledgment of the occasion was made. I brought this to the attention of the manager on the phone after our visit, and he was genuinely apologetic. It was one minor blemish on an overall stellar experience! Will definitely be back again!

$300 tab w/ drinks. Food took 35+ minutes to arrive. Was given “complimentary salad” because the kitchen was behind but ended up being charged $12 for it. Steak wasn’t tasteful or cooked to our requested tempathre.

Not a fan. Recommend you avoid.

Jason ou server was not good. My cup was dirty and when I asked for a new one he seemed upset. I ordered orange juice and there was a fly in the pitcher of orange juice and he swiriled the pitcher so it wouldn't go in my cup rather than go and take it out. When we paid for our food I asked for it to be split down the middle for me and m friend and he barely gave a glance back to acknowledge what I said. He was just rude and it was hard to enjoy my meal.

What we’d read in other reviews regarding the service was consistent - SLOW. And not once were we asked how the food was. We had to return the first eggs Benedict because it was luke warm. Overall our expectations were high and we were disappointed.

The ambiance of this restaurant is great and it feels cozy. I had very high expectations for this restaurant because I had heard so many good things about it; however, the service was a bit slow and they seemed to have a hard time coursing out our meal. We had the salmon and the sauce was delicious but the fish itself was a bit over cooked and a little too salty. We also had the duck and thought it was perfect and the greens served with it were wonderful. All things considered, I would dine here again.

Wrote an accurate review but it forced me to shorten it. Waiter was good at interaction but we received terrible service, including a steak platter dropped in our laps, I was wearing white, a 3hr dinner due to slow service but Pepe the water man was amazing. GREAT CORNBREAD terrible experience, terrible overall food and service, $500 bill.

Abysmally bad from start to finish. We were seated at a small two-top and the chairs had stained fabric seats. So gross, I had to put down my coat on top of it, so I wouldn't sit in whatever it was. Server was delayed for a long time and finally came over to get our drink order. She could not name the beers. In Portland Oregon, a server could not name the beers or even beer styles! And they are not listed on the menu, so I see a tap handle for Pfriem and get that. Cornbread arrives, hot out of the can -- delicious and clever presentation. Soup arrives, a riff on French onion. But it is cold, too cold to melt the cheese. Bummer. But it's tasty, so we eat it anyway. We wait. And wait and wait. They bring out the wrong entree for me, and also the steak that my husband ordered medium rare comes out literally burnt. We send those back. They kindly sent over a cheese plate to tide us over while we wait for entrees. The steak comes out rare (not medium rare, it was cold in the center). The fish was fine. The manager was very kind in giving us a cheese plate, but that cannot make up for a kitchen and servers not doing a good job.

Expensive, good food and atmospheric. Good for a romantic date or a power lunch where price is not as mich of an object. There are steakhouses that offer better value for the food, but not the same setting.

The steaks are over-rated. Fine, but not great. It cannot compare to a good NY or Chicago steakhouse. The sides are fresh, but don't order the cream spinach unless you like tasteless mush. The seating is poor. If you want to dine with people you don't know, this is the place to go. The service was excellent. The pricing is silly expensive in light of the quality/preparation of the steaks. It was a weeknight and the staff wanted out of the place by 10pm. Again, the place is fine but don't expect to be wowed. The NW beer selection is quite good. However, It's not the Northwest Cuisine you will be hoping for.

In general a very nice experience. The servers are excellent, they know what they're doing, very friendly and with gentle up selling.

The food was excellent, very well prepared and sufficient servings.

My only complaint would be the price. $53 for a small steak is a little crazy when coupled with the other menu items. I hope the servers and kitchen staff are well paid.

The main dishes were very good, the desserts were very disappointing . The main issue that I have with this restaurant was the service. Seating was done very quickly, had to wait over 10 minutes to recognized by the wait staff, did not even offer water for the table until after 15 minutes at the table. Dining was done at the end of Sunday Brunch, restaurant was not busy, but no recognition from the wait staff as to adding dishes ( had to ask the waiter when he brought the bill that we did not request that we wanted to see the dessert menu). No one during the entire 1 1/2 hours of service refilled water, etc. I cannot recommend this restaurant others.

If you only have room in your budget for one meal a month that isn't home cooked, make it Urban Farmer! You will not be disappointed. Beautifully decorated, amazing location, soaring ceiling feels like warm outdoor dining in the middle of winter. From steaks to scallops to sprouts, it was all cooked to perfection and explained/delivered by the most delightful/knowledgeable servers. I will be back!

This was my husband's first time back in Portland in 40 years. I had to bring him to the gem called Urban Farmer which I discovered when staying at the Nine's in August on business.

We were not disappointed! Food and service were both incredibly memorable It was a flavor party in our mouths!

The atmosphere is casual elegance and the space is airy and light. We all enjoyed good brunch plates - the veggie scramble was superb and the shrimp and grits fit for a Southerner!

Do not hesitate, this restaurant is a perfect as I could imagine. Our brunch included a shaved vegetable salad with a delicious crunchy quinoa topping that was a big upgrade from the croutons you'd see at a lesser restaurant. The French Toast had a lovely bananas foster sort of jam with it, and real warm maple syrup of course. Service was flawless, and the room is warm and quiet.

I ordered a medium rare steak that came very rare, with parts of the middle even cold. The cheesecake was a huge disappointment to the night. The Mac and cheese was very good, as was the potato fritters. Service is good, but the food just didn’t meet my expectations at all.
