The food was excellent but the service was awful. It took over 30 minutes for our drinks after we sat, and over an hr for the first course. It was 3 people, all knew what we wanted, and start to finish, took 2 hrs. We wanted to turn the table as it was a Saturday but no one seemed in a hurry. Afterwards we went out to the lounge to have a post dinner night cap again to get out of the table and after waiting 30 minutes, got up and went elsewhere. For the price of this place, the food was worth it but not for that kind of service.

Disappointed. Breakfast started out with waitress spilling the coffee on the table and then never cleans it up. Service was underwhelming, the food was mediocre and menu selection was dismal. Considering Portland has such great dining options, I would not waste my time going here. Walk a few blocks to the Heathman or to Mothers, or Cheryl’s, they never disappoint.

This was absolutely hands down the WORST dining experience I have had in Portland. We arrived at Departure to have a pre-dinner cocktail and were turned away as they will not serve cocktails at the tables unless you order from their bites menu. There was no room at the bar based on their ridiculous seating arrangement. We then proceed to Urban Farmer where we planned to have dinner and arrived at 4:45pm and learned they would not seat us until 5:00pm. Three out of our party of 4 ordered the Wagyu London Broil (I had the tenderloin). My steak was perfect. The London Broil was Like "trying to chew through a tire" so all 3 entrees were returned and replaced with tenderloin. We should have gone to El Gaucho (which is where we normally dine). Spent far too much on a HORRIBLE dinner. Will never go back nor recommend to anyone else and I work with/support VVIP's.

I've had lunch many times at the Urban Farmer and have always been delighted. This time, my lunch was not as good as what I've experienced in the past - probably simply my choice of food (the duck frittata). It will not discourage me from going back.

Everything was fine. Just fine. At a restaurant that prides itself on steak, the steak should be excellent. It was just fine. One of our party had to send his Porterhouse back. He had ordered it rare. It arrived closer to medium. That meant two of us were eating while one was just watching and tasting the side dishes. Wait staff, including manager, stopped by once the second steak arrived, but that was it. No apology, no compensation. We weren't expecting anything, and that's the point. When a restaurant of UF's quality messes up, just verifying the proper meal arrived isn't enough. It prides itself on steak and THAT is what was overcooked. Server was helpful and friendly. Side dishes nice, but, again, unremarkable.

The food was excellent. The service was lousy. The atmosphere was odd.

For the price level at Urban Farmer you would expect good service. Even decent service. I've had much better service at Red Robin. Simple things like bringing the entrees and the sides out at roughly the same time were flubbed. We are not demanding people when it comes to service but it was so consistently bad through the entire meal it was noteworthy.

The ambiance is strange. Music ranging from hip modern electro to 80's top 40 creates a vibe that's all over the place. The place doesn't know what it wants to be. The prices say fine dining. The atmosphere says quirky and casual.

The food was really good, but there are too many good restaurants in Portland to go back here any time soon.

Service was extremely slow. We sat for 15 min before we were even approached. Then sat an additional 20 min for a drink to arrive. It was not even busy.

Urban Farmer never fails to provide the best meal ever. Four friends went prior to seeing the Singing Christmas Tree at the Keller. All four of us chose a different meal and we all loved them! They were super busy but made us new mimosas when Peter misunderstood our desire for a cranberry splash. Everyone needs to try this awesome restaurant. Love the local food.

It was a Thanksgiving Day pre-fix dinner, but was given more than enough options to choose from for the appetizer, entree and dessert. Food and ambience were overall very good, but we had to wait nearly 30 minutes to be seated despite our reservation. The place was still packed at 9pm when we left, and people were still waiting at the bar and lounge area. The server was always attentive, and did his best to have everything on the table at a right timing.

My small family enjoyed a quaint Thanksgiving dinner worh plenty of variety and gluten free options. Our waitstaff team was epic, knowledgeable and kind. We enjoyed everything. I only put a less than stellar (4 star) on value because our tab was a bit higher than I had expected but whatever it’s the holidays.
Thx for a lovely evening!

I had heard good things about this place, but I've got to say this was a pretty disappointing experience. For a flat $65 you could choose from about 6 different entrees. Being Thanksgiving I chose the turkey. It came with a small amount of dark meat which was actually pretty good, but then you also got two thick dry pieces of white meat which I think came from some kind of turkey loaf. You got lots of food as the table got a half dozen side dishes, but each was average at best. To top it off, the service was VERY SLOW. We sat for at least 15_20 minutes between the apps, the main dish, the dessert and even the check. The restaurant was not even full when we were there Not sure I'll be back. Definitely won't be back next Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving dinner became a real special treat eating at Urban Farmer. The Thanksgiving menu was creative, the courses and side dishes served with flourish and the meal delicious.
Our wait person, David, was attentive and personable. Our meal was served promptly and with lovely presentations for all of it.
We will return....

I have talked many people into dining at this restaurant because I was a regular there and loved the food. I was very excited to take my fiancé there for the first time. What a let down! For the first time in 3 years the food was terrible. We ordered the half chicken and the duck breast and neither was cooked fully or flavored at all. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants and now I’m not so sure I will ever go back.

The food was ok- just ok. We ordered the Ribeye, which was very good. The 21 day dry-aged NY strip which was not good. French onion soup and the leek soup was pretty good. The corn bread was amazing. Brussel sprouts were good but a little too sweet and the fries were soggy and overall terrible. The Chèvre cheese cake was ok but the peach margarita sorbet was really good. Not sure I would return. It was either a hit or a miss with the dishes.
Ambience was very nice and it was easy to get last minute seating. The wait staff was nice, although I felt like we were a little bit "put into a category" once we declined to order drinks and just stuck with water.

Waited a long time for our food then they got one of our dishes completely wrong. We got an apology and waited close to 10 more min. (Everyone else at the table was almost done with their meals) for the correct meal to come out. No offers to “make it right” for us, just another apology. Also, refills on coffee was pretty slow. Food quality was good and, at least, our server was very nice.

Not a good experience. Server was inattentive and snarky. Also, ordered the New York Steak sampler med-rare. Came out and was clearly rare (blue and cold in the center) when we cut into it. Instead of bringing new, correctly cooked steaks, they just put the ones we already cut into back on to cook, which severely degrades the quality of the product.

Disappointing. The place is really nice and inviting. The service was excellent. The food did not match either. We (party of 3) had steaks that were far too fatty (inside and outside) and not really tasty. The food was not bad enough to return to the kitchen, but not good enough to enjoy. Not good for a restaurant that prides itself on the quality of their meat..

We booked a table because we had heard that they took every step of the process very seriously. They do. Besides doing their best to procure from area farms, fisheries, ranches, and vineyards (which is, admittedly, easier to do in cities like Portland/Tacoma/Seattle/Bellingham, etc.), they produce a good many of their elements in-house, using both rooftop gardens and hydroponic facilities in their cellars. In terms of beef and pork, they procure whole animals and put their TWO in-house butchers to work, using every bit of the animal (even their tabletop candles are beef tallow). They dry age beef in-house with extraordinary success. They have the most amazing and well staffed kitchens, cellars, prep areas of any I've seen (we were blessed with a full tour). Without question, this is a gem. Every plate—octopus appetizer, salads, sides, our halibut entrée and our rib eye entrée was both elegant and impeccably prepared and presented.
