Great lunch! Staff was friendly and food was amazing. On the pricey side, but perfect for a special meal.
If you are not concerned with the price, then it is a pretty decent steak house. However, you only get a steak and for extra cost you can get the sides, like potato, brussell sprouts, mushrooms, etc..., which when paying $50.00 or more for the steak, should be included. Our waiter that evening was not very attentive and one of our steaks came out over cooked and by the time she got her steak, we were all done eating. They did comp her steak though and gave us a free dessert, so that was the right thing to do. All in all we had a great time and would probably return.
Thank you so much for the feedback and we truly apologize for the misstep in service. We hope to have you back for another special occasion! Thank you again, Chris
This was for a friend’s 70th birthday, and the experience did not disappoint. The meals were excellent. Best beef in town. The sides were also stellar. The cocktails were sufficiently strong and there were creative takes on classics on the menu. The atmosphere is excellent. It was a little noisy with all the Christmas parties going on, but it was an wonderful time.
The food is good, albeit small portions for a hefty price. Servers were friendly and prompt. Had to ask them to turn down the overhead music which was loud. And the music didn’t fit the brunch atmosphere - was alternative rock. Food came out on time and all at once so no one had to wait. We were however struck by the small print on the menu and bill about the 3% “surcharge” that the Sage group, the company that runs Urban Farmer, has added to cover “increased labor costs.” Sorry but providing wage for employees shouldn’t be passed on to customer via the menu. Increase your menu prices slightly across the board to cover your costs or chalk it up to Cost or Business (COB). When customers see this it’s irritating and nickel and diming. Many will simply reduce their tip by 3%, which ultimate hurts the employees. Sage should focus more paying livable wages for employees and less on making customer pay for them with surcharges.
Nick, our server, is awesome! Ask for him if you have dinner at Urban Farmer
We visited Urban Farmer for Thanksgiving with family from Oregon, California, and New York. It was a special evening and this classy restaurant did not disappoint! I was concerned that the space would be too noisy, but we had a lovely little room which allowed for intimacy and conversation within a large footprint. The food was creative and delicious, with a wonderful wine list. Service was superb, without being overly pushy. Our family will definitely return to Urban Farmer.
This is our second Thanksgiving at Urban Farmer. The offerings are plenty and the food has been amazing two years in a row. Seating can be a little tight but the food makes up for it. Can't wait till next year!
Went for a great Thanksgiving dinner. My impression is that they have a quality chef who prepared a pretty amazing dinner. The couple at the next table were going for their 4th straight Thanksgiving dinner there. We’ll be back.
Special thanks to our server, who was fantastic! I forget her name, but appreciated her suggestions and the sorbet dessert with candle she brought for my girlfriends birthday
The service was fabulous and the food was delicious. I brought a client in for lunch and she was thoroughly impressed with the selection, the types of food and the taste.
Their breakfast menu is absolutely yummy.
Great dinner and experience!
Thank you! We are so glad you enjoyed your visit. The feedback is very much appreciated.
Food was good as always but both the burger and the steak that were ordered were over cooked
Thanks for excellent service, outstanding food and the birthday dessert surprise was the best!! However did you know butterscotch is the favorite?! Just wonderful, as always.
Excellent service and great food
Server never once checked on how our meal was / do we need anything?
LONG waits for food. With a reservation, took 45 minutes from the time we sat down for the most basic breakfast service (eggs, potatoes, Ham). Food good but anything that set it asside (again, simple breakfast).
It is a nice environment with generally fine quality food . However, food, wine and cocktails all overpriced relative to similar venues
Overpriced for terrible food. Disengaged waiter. Inside a hotel. Regular hotel food at a very high price. Bad service.
The cod fritters were to die for! Overall, always a great meal at Urban Farmer.
We are so glad you enjoy visiting the restaurant. Thank you so much for the compliments!
Top notch food with the most hospitable staff! Extremely knowledgeable and a lot of fun to be around! Great energy!
Thank you Craig! We really appreciate the feedback and it is shared with the staff. Hope to have you back soon. Thanks again, Chris
Literally one of the best dining experiences in Portland. Some of the best service I have ever had, not to mention impeccable food!
Thank you! We're so glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit. Your feedback is very much appreciated and we hope to see you soon. We have some incredible holiday specials on the way! Thanks again, Chris
The food was exceptional. The beef tartare was my favorite dish I had.
Amazing brunch! Eggs Benedict was the best and our server was so sweet!
Love the fresh, locally sourced food and the relaxed but nice atmosphere. Great selection - and a bonus to serve breakfast at lunch!
Food good but not great. Ribeye was fatty and service was marginal. Nothing horrible but nothing great.
This was our second time to Urban Farmer, the last time being 4 years ago. Very consistent restaurant. Hadn't changed at all!
Cheese plate: So fun, they roll out a cart and let you choose. My favorite part :)
Steaks: This is where they shine. Very good. I feel they are overly salty, but my husband disagrees. No fancy sauces or toppings, just pure steak. My husband had the steak trio and was in a meat coma - he loved every bite.
Dessert: Ok, not amazing. Had some sort of peanut butter cake.
I struggle with this review a little because had we not just gone to El Gaucho a few months ago, I would probably be more enthusiastic about Urban Farmer. Don't get me wrong, it was really good, but El Gaucho was fantastic. Between the two I'd pick EG, but UF is definitely worth visiting.
Wonderful service & great food! and I was alone with my 15 year old daughter which made the fact that they had 1/2 bottles of wine amazing since i was drinking alone! 😆
Stupid music for such a nice place. Feels like the Embassy Suites with all the hotel rooms looking down at you while you eat. Wont go here again
Very well staffed and knowledgeable about the food. The menu had plenty to choose from.
I have been to two other locations and was expecting the same atmosphere-extremely disappointing. Basically in a big middle open area of a hotel. They tried, same type of decor etc but it just didn’t work. Meal was overpriced for what we got, service was friendly.
I took my in laws to this restaurant and while the food was decent enough tasting, I did not like the value for the dinner menu. In my opinion there’s should be sides included in your $50+ dinners not family style on the side for an added cost that’s insane! There was also mainly beef options which is fabulous for some, but perhaps include a second chicken option in times like these where health issues are on the rise. You are paying for esthetic more than the food, I will not be returning.
Great service Great atmosphere!
Best Shrimp and grits in time....always come back for it as I haven't found anyone in Portland that does it better.
We were expecting a better meal but was disappointed in the food we were served. We enjoy nice steaks at many steakhouses across the country and this was below average. Our steaks weren’t seasoned well or cooked properly. The sides were also nothing special. The best thing was our drinks from the bar - we really enjoyed our old fashioneds.
Poor hostess service. Average waiter service. Food is very good. Wine by glass list adequate.
Server good. Table too tall for the seating offered and too small to accommodate plates comfortably. Menus an awkward size (half the size of the table), with no place to put menus after viewing. Food had too many ingredients, too many flavors. The shrimp grits was very good -- until the added barbecued pork -- not a good version and too strongly flavored for the dish. The word to sum up the dining experience is "awkward" which is not what one looks for in a meal out.
We've only been for lunch before. Had no idea Urban Farmer was a steakhouse. It was fantastic. Food was amazing and our server was great. A great place to bring out of town guests. Will definitely be back!
Way to expensive. The steak was good but not great and for the price I would have expected great.
