I've always found the food superb, but this time the bernaise sauce on my benedict was not hot and, while the rhubarb sauce on the dessert was delicious, the pannecotte was tasteless.
Food and ambiance wonderful!
Urban Farmer is a lovely spot for a special lunch. Food was served hot.
Unfortunately Urban Farmer did not meet our expectations. When visiting Portland with my wife and two adult daughters, we were hoping for a great locally sourced meal. They seem to pride themselves on there grass fed meats and being s high end establishment. It was a Monday night and they were not very busy. I ordered the ribeye steak and the server Becca returned about 10 minutes later to let me know they were out of that cut. I ended up ordering a different cut and when my steak arrived it was over cooked. My daughter ordered a tenderloin filet, medium rare, and it also came out over cooked. My daughter sent hers back and when the manager brought her the new steak out, it was without the blue cheese topping she originally ordered. The strangest thing was that neither the manager or our server ever apologized to us or acknowledged the service issues. Honestly, that is what bothered us the most. The server Becca was friendly in a pretentious way, but was not very attentive, even after the issues we experienced. I did not finish my steak and we sat for a good 20-30 minutes before anyone cleared our plates. She did bring 4 glasses of Champagne to our table before we were leaving and stated, here is some bubbly on the house. I appreciate the gesture, but none of us wanted champagne and would have preferred an apology or a comped drink or dessert. I spoke to the manager on the way out, to express my disappointment on the dining experience, and he seemed unaware and dumbfounded (this is the guy who brought out my daughters new steak, and then had go back again for the topping they forgot). This was not an inexpensive place, and both our steaks were well over $50 a piece. My wife and daughter had halibut and lobster bisque, which they stated was good. Again...a simple apology would have gone a long way. I felt as though we are being punished because we had a valid issue with our food. Would not recommend this place. Save yourself & try another place.
Delicious food and a beautiful setting. We did have a few young couples with little ones that were a little noisy but it didn’t dampen our spirits at all - we had a great time and will definitely go again!
It was lovely, but since it was a fixed price buffet, and most items are meat based, I wish they had a price for vegetarians.
Mother’s Day brunch. Hair in the salad on buffet line. Empty condiment containers asked someone twice to refill it. Had to go to the buffet line 3 times for a bit of creme fraiche. Our table was in front of the bathroom. We had a Rez a couple weeks out. It was $68pp. The Ritz at Kapalua on Maui is less for brunch.
Went for Mother's Day. Booked online obviously. No mention at the restaurant by the staff or in signage (nor online) that the buffet was $68 PER PERSON. Bill was over $300. This includes a child who had a couple pieces of fruit and a couple mini muffins (basically about $3 worth of food).
Complained to manager after...and got a discount on a FUTURE visit.
Thanks...but that doesnt resolve my insane credit card bill or horrible feeling I was taken advantage of.
1. 68 per person is insane. Expecting closer to 40 maybe?
2. Have a child's plate/value closer to maybe 25 or something? Its not like they were loading up on crab cakes.
3. Hello, have the staff alert the patrons, and have a sign at the entrance.
Good spread, nice ambience, decent food... but this was a joke.
WILL NOT BE BACK...
Fantastic food with fantastic service. The food was so well prepared that it did not seem like a buffet. It was also not a crowded affair which made the experience all that much better. The only downside is the price. For almost $70, mimosas should be included. Also, kid pricing at almost $30 per, is on the high side. But perhaps they price at this point to discourage children?
Regardless, we had an excellent morning. Great people, great food. Thanks UF.
The price point is a bit much. The cheapest steak on the menu costs $35 and comes with zero sides. My dinner was delicious but it was not $50 good...is there a meat that is $50 dollar good? Wine yes, but steak not so much.
A beautiful atmosphere transported our Mother’s Day dinner to a garden for fine dining. The servers were all friendly, helpful, present, and not overly attentive; this last is the best thing I can ever say about service in a fine restaurant. The tables have plenty of room to spread out, the lighting was good and the menus read easy. As far as the entire menu, a wide range of dishes were available from fresh garden vegetables to every kind of meat, from mellow to herby to spicy, from very light to rich and satisfying. Also, it was prom night in Portland, so we were delighted to be dining along with young folks in full formal regalia.
We selected something notable from their broad wine selection and we were very pleased from the first sip. Everything from a starter salad to main courses and dessert was delicious. The scallops were seared perfectly, not a second overcooked. The steak tasting menu was a first for us, and an interesting exploration of taste and texture that you kind of already know, but perhaps have never had a side by side comparison. I am told the duck was very delicious as well. The crowd pleasing side dish of a cheesy potato tart gave us that decadent bite, while a citrusy bok choy and peas dish kept everything from feeling heavy. Desserts were so good, no one shared. The special dessert was a coconut and pineapple rum frappe; an adult tropical milkshake to live for!
The only dish that somewhat disappointed was bone marrow flan, the best part of which was the accompanying roasted cherries and fresh greens. The flan itself was an excellent savory custard, but I was expecting more of an umami punch in the flavor. I suppose too much bone marrow would cause the custard to have texture problems. An intriguing item from the daily specials menu, nonetheless. A more delicate palate might experience it very differently.
Due to the costly wine selection at $185, dinner with 20% tip was $600 for four people. One could spend a lot less and be happy.
Fantastic food and atmosphere. The steaks and side dishes are superb. Expensive but worth it.
Creative, delicious food. Nick, our waiter, was delightful and the ambiance is great. We make it a habit to eat here when we’re in town
Food was too salty. Service was slow, though they comped the late appetizer. Ambiance was nothing to write home about. Overall, not left with a feeling that the high price tag is just.
Food was average. Tables were far too close together.
Appetizers were great. Unfortunately the New York steak tasting had 3 of the 4 steaks very overdone
Perfect spot for a wonderful dinner with my husband.
The shrimp and grits (with pulled pork) is to die for! It's definitely a must try.
We went for the Easter Brunch and found the variety and quality of food to be very good. Many of the dishes weren't "traditional" brunch fare, like oysters on the half-shell or charcuterie, but there was something delicious for everyone. The drink menu, again, had many choices from interesting cocktails to a good wine and beer list. Our server was friendly and helpful but was a little absent minded which could be due to how busy it was for the holiday dining. The setting in the glass-roofed atrium was comfortable, bright and delightful.
We'd like to go back for a non-brunch meal sometime.
Over priced and ok food
Easter brunch was fantastic. the selections were really varied and delightful. The service at Urban Farmer is always first rate. Treat yo self and just go.
The food and service is ALWAYS top notch; why go anywhere else for that special occasion or business dinner!
Best place for wagyu beef. Ribeye is A must have. Nice wine selection.
The food was fantastic! Fresh and well presented. Service from Zach was stellar!
Luxurious business lunch. Busy and service is fantastic and it never get too loud. Friendly staff, good food selection will definitely be back!
Great Atmoshpere, and the various Eggs Benedict’s were great! The English muffins were home made and so fresh and crispy. The Mimosa’s were tasty as well.
I’m not sure this restaurant serves anything that does t taste amazing. I try and come to Urban Farmer Portland when I’m in town. The cornbread they serve at the start is amazing. It reminds me of my moms homemade recipe. The steaks are incredible. So tender and cooked to perfection. It’s pricey but worth every penny.
Food and service are consistently great. So far, they always deliver a great experience.
It was great! Delicious food, server could have been a little quicker
For how empty it was the service was not up to par. Also asked for my streak to be medium rare and it was very rare but didn’t send it back. Other food was good.
The Bloody Mary bar was the highlight and the reason I’m giving 3 stars instead of two. Besides that, it was almost hilarious how many things they got wrong. Wrong orders, wrong drinks, out of one main course we ordered, brought people only 1 egg instead of two (seriously who forgets an egg off TWO separate breakfast orders?). They gave us $20 off our bill for all the mistakes, but it was still such an expensive place and the food was so mediocre. I felt bad taking people there since there is SO MUCH good food in Portland. Oh well, lesson learned, will not go back.
We loved our meal. creative and flavorful. we'll go back again.
Great food and good service. The duck is awesome.
I’ve never had a bad meal at Urban Farmer. Staff is always helpful without being intrusive. Love the low key, intimate atmosphere.
People were great. We just thought it was overpriced. Disappointing that steak doesn’t come with a side.
Very pleasant, good service and good food. They remembered the special occasion.
Amazing and great customer service!
Our dinner server and service was fantastic. Wine and steak choices can be overwhelming due of the plethora of options... and my lack of knowledge of wine. With a little input from us our server lead us through a fantastic meal. Bottle of wine and 2 cuts of beef with sides for under $200. Sunday evening, 3 hours of quiet, and comfortable atmosphere to enjoy each other's company.
Overall good experience.. about food 🤔 - I was expected more, but was ok.. Service was wonderful, waitresses was very nice ... atmosphere are very romantic, especially when you sit by the garden...
For a birthday celebration this visit was first class. We enjoyed the setting, the people and the food. Great day.
