Excellent food, service was wonderful!
Urban Farmer Portland is truly amazing. I had dinner with my boss, who is well traveled and knows good food. He was beyond pleased with the meal. Everything we had was fantastic. The cornbread that is initially served is the best I've had with the exception of my mother's home baked. The steaks were simply incredible, so tender and flavorful. While a bit pricey, it was one of the best restaurants I have dined at in a long time.
The service was excellent but our food was not. Our waitress was very nice but food was very slow in coming out and not up to the expectations of an expensive steak house. My wife and I ordered the same filet that was $60 and mine was good but hers was gristly. The salad was quite good but the spinach side was simply spinach leaves in a bowl with breadcrumbs on top and baked. The steaks we’ve had at national chain steak houses have been markedly better.
We finally made it to the very best steak restaurant on the west coast. Dining here was enormously rewarding. My tenderloin steak was beyond perfection. We tried the summer bean for a side special and the mushrooms as another. Both were fabulous. Key Lime pie for desert was also the best ever. Top all this with impeccable service in a brilliantly designed atmosphere with five star service. By far this remarkable dinner has been placed at the top of our culinary memories.
Amazing food and service. The fromagere definitely knows her cheese and created the most ridiculously perfect board. We will definitely return the next time we’re in Portland.
The only reason a critic might not give the Urban Farmer top of the top ratings is that the portions are not tiny and precious. This is the steak house's steak house. I suppose you could manage to cobble together a vegetarian or vegan meal but the real reason for coming here is meat, specifically beef. Do you know the difference between 10 and 21 day dry aged beef? Try the taster plate (which is big enough to share with your date!) and you will. The next time I go there, presuming they have it in stock, I'm tapping my investment portfolio and going for the 100 day dry aged Wagyo. I may just die of bliss.
It was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent, food was great and the open floor plan with the atrium felt like you were outside. We used our gift card but will continue coming for their brunch. It was a great experience overall for us. Laura is an excellent server and the manager Robby was kind and welcoming. Highly recommend!
We had a great meal. The steaks were great, the shrimp over lettuce tasty, and the zucchini and corn side dish both unique and delicious. The restaurant was very quiet but it was also mostly empty, probably because of when we went.
Everyone raves over the Eggs Benedict so decided to visit just to try. Personally, I found they were drowning in sauce and portion overwhelming. If you prefer a lighter touch of hollandaise, best to ask for it on the side, else, you’ll be scooping it off in forkfuls as I did. Homemade English muffin was very good.
Food was very heavy - full of fat and salt.
Anniversary dinner, never mentioned it to us. Steak sampler odd flavor, not done to requested medium. Had to send back not one but both glasses of wine, one obviously corked, one badly oxidized. Table was tiny. Waiter was decent, other dishes also decent, will not return.
Outstanding service from Laura. Fabulous food for breakfast. Reasonably priced for a hotel restaurant.
Overall, this place fell short of expectations on all accounts. The service was slow, although the waiter was attentive once he made it to us. The steak was good but the rest was the food was not worth the price. The ambiance is mediocre too, thanks to the well lit atrium. We wont be back
The attempt to make the food pretty undermined the actual food experience. The portion size made certain things impossible to eat without making a mess.
We were a little worried about coming here due to the bad yelp reviews. However, we were so happy with our experience! Great food and drinks plus good service. Thanks for making our special day so great!
Always a great experience. Farm to table with any type fed prime steaks and fresh seafood. Great ambiance.
Quite a dismal lunch experience! Even the interior is a jumbled mess of visual design. One friend had the chicken sandwich, which turned out to be a peach jam sandwich, with a chicken piece that he could barely cut, much less bite a piece off of, and of course, any brioche bun is the worst type to use on a sandwich of this type, as it fell apart immediately. So the meal became a knife and fork wrestling match. Salad was os overdressed that it was a soggy mess. Seafood stew was a strange bowl of lackluster flavors
Wll not return!!
Poor service, we felt ignored.
GREAT steaks! Wonderful atmosphere feels outdoor due to the atrium, but without having to worry about weather. Service was very good.
A great place for a business gathering with close colleagues. The service was top notch and the food was unique and excellent.
We love having brunch here! Especially on a rainy day it feels like you are outside enjoying a great meal :) Drinks hit the spot, the avocado Benedict is to die for!
Great food and great service! Always a wonderful experience!
We had a good Father’s Day brunch at Urban Farmer. The honey biscuit was to come with sausage gravy and there was a minuscule amount. Shrimp and grits was the best dish ordered. Crab omelet was rubbery as the eggs were over cooked but otherwise good. Biggest problem was lots of small flies. Unfortunate but it didn’t ruin the experience in this lovely restaurant
We had a wonderful meal with exceptional service. Everyone was very nice and attentive. They happily held our table even though we were a bit late for our reservation, never let our glasses go empty and were very friendly. While it is a bit pricey, it is worth it for the delicious food and the great experience.
Urban Farmer has potential. The place works great, but in summer with the overhead skylite there is no ambiance.... bright, bright, bright. Service is great. Attentive and knowledgable, giving just the right amount of attention. The restaurant bills itself as Portland Steak House but other than having a choice of sourced meet as corn fed, grass fed or 21 day aged there is nothing memorable about the meal. The steaks come out luke warm at best and the prices are very high for what you get.
We had a wonderful time and the food was delicious
Artfully presented mouth watering dishes served with a smile. The servers are extremely knowledgable about the dishes they offer and serve with a smile. Nothing not to like here.
We'll be eating here again!
My wife and I went to dinner at Urban Farmer for the first time on a Friday night, which I arranged as a surprise for her birthday.
Everything, from the decor, to the service, to the food & the drinks, to the ambience was just wonderful.
The space the restaurant is in has lots of natural light and the different sectioned off nooks make for an interesting mix of public and private seating arrangements. The decor, the furniture, the place settings all are very modern but not in a minimalist way.
The service was very personably and with a smile. The waiter was knowledgeable on both the food menu and the wine list.
The food was incredibly good. My wife had oysters on the half shell and I choose 2 out of 6 available cheeses from the cheese waitress.
Our main course consisted of duck breast and tenderloin and both were excellent. The steak actually made it in my top 3 of steaks!
Dessert was a key lime pie (an actual key lime pie) for my wife and the seasonal strawberry crumble for me accompanied by a 20yo port and a doppio espresso.
Naturally the bill came with a little bit of sticker shock, but all things considered it was money well-spent.
We will be back!
Service was excellent. Food was great however a bit overpriced.
The nettle oil, garlic, mushrooms and rice was pretty good, but that is not risotto.
The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, but our party was very disappointed with the overpriced and low quality food we had for brunch. The bacon Benedict consisted mainly of thick fatty meat, the flat iron steak and eggs contained shells, and the chicken leg with the honey biscuit was soggy. We had heard such good things, but sadly will not be returning.
We had an after wedding brunch with our son, daughter-in-law and her parents. We had great food and even better service. Bring your appetite, some of the portions are definitely shareable.
Urban Farmer was recommended to us by a good friend, and it did not disappoint. The cocktails were excellent, with the best ice I have ever seen. Believe it or not, that matters! The starters were superb and the the steaks were amazing! Great selection and quality. Every dish had the freshest ingredients used with ingenuity. Excellent!
Urban Farmer is always top notch. We visited for brunch yesterday and were planning to get our favorite benedicts (they make their own English muffins!), but could not resist the Chicken and Waffle special. The chicken was moist and had been marinated in a pesto type sauce and then battered and fried and laid over a bed of country gravy. Next to it was a buttermilk waffle with blueberry compote. Worth every bite! My friend ordered the Steak and Eggs and said it was amazing. The steak was perfectly cooked and also laid over some country gravy. We are always amazed at how they continue to blow our minds and tastebuds with amazing food!
Overall extremely nice. Great Service and creative drinks. Very nice wine list which featured many great local choices. The halibut and scallops were fantastic. However, I would not recommend the duck. The veggies were too salty and the dusk was bland.
A little spendy but so worth it! My husband and I both had steak and it was the best we've ever had.
My husband and I celebrated our anniversary while in Portland for a conference. The staff at Urban Farmer treated us like royalty and made our anniversary very special. The food was delicious and our wait staff were amazing!
Amazing food and service always! Genuine hospitality and a very professional team. Sunday brunch features a fabulous Bloody Mary bar with multitudes of house made pickles, assorted hot sauces, and incredible house made bacon. This is the best brunch place in town.
