About Uptown Tavern
We have created the Uptown Tavern from a belief that you deserve to eat good, quality food without compromising style and fun. With two floors of dining, this hip urban restaurant is the perfect setting for sipping craft beer and savoring a menu of bold flavors while enjoying views of the Uptown. There's new stuff to look at, and new stuff to try. We specialize in one thing, and one thing only: that original goal mentioned above. This explains the regulars, even those who'll drive an hour to be here. It's an entity

Uptown Tavern Ratings and Reviews
There were not many patrons in the restaurant. The service was slow. Waiter/Server was pleasant but somewhat inattentive to us.
Ordered side salads to come prior to entree but came with entree. Food came out pretty quick.
Food was average but menu is limited and does not match the menu in Open Table. I chose this restaurant because it had Pasta and Steak options. However, it is pretty much just Burgers and appetizers.
The food was mediocre. Service was terrible. We waited almost 15 minutes before anyone acknowledged us. When we were finally waited on, we never saw our waitress again. We had to ask another server for more drinks and our bill. The place was pretty empty too.
This was our second time to the Uptown Tavern. We were lucky enough to get a table on the rooftop. Great views. The service was very fast, especially because they were busy, as it was a Friday night. All six of us ordered something different, and it was all very tasty. It was great that they offer several items without meat, as my daughter is a vegetarian. Her roasted vegie wrap was awesome!
Advertised steak dinner online @ $9.99.
Was charged $12.99. Bill was not itemized , so I asked for an itemized bill and could see the overcharge. Asked to see manager. He came over and told me of the price increased, I opened the web site and showed him the advertised price. He would not give it to me. I was disappointed. Not the way you treat a customer.
My husband and I went here prior to a movie at the Lagoon theater next door. The proximity to the theater itself is a recommendation for this place (which I think used to be The Drink?). The beer selection was delightful - I had 2 Oktoberfest beers that I've never tried before. The staff was friendly. but the place was really empty (we arrived around 5:30 and there were only about 3 other tables occupied). But the food was awful. Admittedly, we didn't have burgers, which seem to be what they are emphasizing. But I was still surprised. My chicken was bad enough that I didn't finish it, and the vegetables were so covered in garlic that it burned my tongue (I didn't think I could ever have too much garlic, but now I know).
I actually made reservations as I was not sure how busy it would be. When we arrived there was no one in the bar area. Everyone was up on the rooftop. Which was fine by me and my boyfriend because it was really muggy and hot out.
We ordered the Saturday special which was the New York Strip for 12.99. The Strip was salty. I mean salty. Chinese food couldn't compare to how salty this steak was. But, that is what you get for ordering a 12.99 Steak.
Our server was okay, she was much more busy trying to impress the table of guys next to us. She didn't really come in and check on us and my water needed to re-filled more often than she was willing to come over.
But the indoor seating area was so warm. I was wearing a very light weight sundress and I was sweating. I am normally a hot blooded person so, I was used to being warm. My boyfriend on the other hand was complaining he too was hot.
All in all, if the bar was cooler, I think I wouldn't have left so soon. I just had to get outside in the breeze.
Love this place and the food. Our server was not impressive, took about 20 minutes for her two greet us, came up chewing gum without a friendly hello. Complained she had to walk all the way across the establishment to serve us. We were there for 2 hours, waiting a majority of the time. Kitchen staff was awesome.
Went here for my birthday dinner on a Saturday. Really great $10 steak special but that was the only great thing. Waiter, although nice, was overloaded with tables and the service was slow. I like coming here at night for drinks but probably won't come again for a meal.
The hostess said that my reservation was for the main dining even though I specified rooftop dining. The hostess said we could go upstairs and ask, making it sound like we'd get in without difficulty since it was 5 pm on a Sat. The upstairs hostess said it'd be at least 45 min. So we went back downstairs and the downstairs hostess then acted surprised that we were back and that the wait was that long even for a reservation. The steak special was good. The service was lacking - both from the hostess and from the waitstaff. We repeatedly had to request refills on beverages.
Had another wonderful dining experience here. Wednesday crab legs are fresh & a great price for fans of all you can eat. This place is always busy on crab night.
Saturday night New York Strip dinner for $ 9.99 can not be beat. I can't buy a steak of this size for $10, even if I cook it myself.
If you have any problem , the wait staff will correct and the manager often will visit with you to see if your satisfied. Service like that is hard to find. Any problem we have had is always over corrected, and that's nice. Dined there dozens of times & love it. The rooftop is only one side of what this restaurant has to offer inside.
Four of us enjoyed a fun evening at the Uptown Tavern. Since it was a Saturday night, two of us had the special New York Strip steak dinner which was a great deal at $9.99. The other dinners were really good as well, especially the flat bread. We plan on returning to enjoy another fun time and maybe have a drink on the rooftop if its warmer!
I could see 9 televisions from where I was sitting but the $10 Saturday steak special was a deal I hadn't experienced since the early 80s. Delicious, and I wasn't hungry for the next 18 hours. The service was very congenial and speedy. A quite nice surprise in a neighborhood that can be long on flash and short on value.
Everything was set up fine. We booked for 10, but 2 could not make it. The waiter (male) did not ask if we would like anything to drink with our meal. We had to ask him. He seemed to hang out at the bar alot, and continued to offer us "shots" after we refused several times. We come here often and this was by far the worst service we have had. I am pretty sure he got very little tips if any. We all agreed (8 of us) the service was bad. The crab runner seemed a little lost, so we had slow service there too. Overall we like the place, but it may be some time before we are back.
I made a reservation to go eat with a couple friends. When we got there the host told us we couldn't eat at the rooftop unless we were 21. It would've been nice to know this information before we went since the main reason why we went was to dine at the rooftop. Other than that, the food was good and our waiter was nice...the host was kind of rude.
This place could be so much more but what a waste! They have the location, size and a rooftop bar; however, their food is just horrible. Everything we had was literally taken out of the freezer and deep fried, nothing homemade. They gave us each a tiny condiment cup with ketchup, really, they must think they are a 4 star restaurant, not! They should close the main floor dining room and just keep the rooftop and serve drinks and scrap all of the food. Plus you have to go into the basement to use the restroom, now that was a great plan when they were designing this place, wow. The table next to us had the exact same experience and all 6 of them had harsh words with the manager. All of their meals were comped. Eat somewhere else.
Hostess upstairs was rude - she had no idea what she was doing. We were getting told different things and being put in different places. Our waitress had no idea what she was doing either. Forgot about our drinks, left without taking soemone's order. I believe it was the manager that fixed everything for us and took care of us. He was very kind.
2nd time visiting this location for family get together and we waited 15 mins before server took drink order, waited 10 mins before server realized she forgot the kind of beer ordered. The rest of our party showed up and the last couple to join us their food came before the drinks that were ordered. Salmon flatbread was ordered and it didn't have salmon it had shrimp. When it came to pay, we provided our credit cards and they were in her possession for 15 mins. I did not like that one bit! In this day and age of credit card fraud for all we know she could've been skimming our cards. Each visit to this location has been horrible and I will not be recommending to anyone.
The service was terrible. We went there for all you can eat crab and the waiter had to remember two things. What kind of dressing for our salad and what kind of potatoe. They brought the wrong salad dressing and the potato came out with nothing on it, when it was ordered loaded. They also served the crab without any melted butter or lemons, which are pretty much staples with crab. In the end I wish we could have tipped the runner, because she did ten times more work than our actual server and got us everything we needed. NOT our actual server.
