The service was terrible. I watched as our sushi sat at the window for over 20 minutes while our server walked around aimlessly. No drink refills, didn't check in on us once. The bathrooms were filthy and the floors in the restaurant were as well.
Great service and ambiance as always
Decent sushi, over priced for the quality.
The sushi was top quality: fresh, and delicious. We got their avocado miso soup and kobe beef hot rocks, both of which are now 'must-haves' for us. The menu is full of creative and diverse choices from rolls (we got tapas and bahama something or other rolls) to cooked entrees (we didn't get one this visit). I highly recommend this joint!
Valentine’s day dinner was superb!
Was a great place for clean sushi
Never fails to be on my top 5 list for Houston restaurants.
One of my favorite Sushi places in Houston. Have been there several times and never had a bad experience.
We had an absolutely wonderful date night. Our waiter was a pure delight, she was helpful and mindful of our time. The food was adventurous for us but we loved it! I would highly recommend uptown!!!
We always go for our Anniversary, this time it was horrible.. Miso soup cold, don room #2 which is supposed to be warm was cold, service horrible.
This place has turned into a real dump. We sat in a booth and the upholstery was torn in many locations with the stuffing coming out. How do you serve food in a place like this? The restrooms were also disgusting. We had the Kobe cubes, which were really good, but the two rolls we had were bad and not fresh. We could not get pass the upholstery seating and the lack of management and ownership that would serve food in this condition. How do you let your restaurant deteriorate to this condition? My advice is avoid Uptown Sushi at all cost. There are too many good and clean sushi bars in Houston. I am asking for a response to my review.
This is one of our go-to sushi restaurants in Houston. My husband and I will come for a quick lychee martini or sake and chef don tuna tartar, panko eggs and delicious sashimi. We even take our children who enjoy the spicy edamame and sushi rolls.
Arrived on time for the reservation but had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. Service was very slow but food was great.
We always get their salad with anything else we order becasue it is so delicious & filling! We also get the beef wrapped around the avocado & sweet potato for the same reason. Always great!!!
Great all around.
Service was pretty bad. Got some of our meal items before our appetizer entrees that we orders, which probably would have even came if we hadn’t asked for it. Restaurant wasn’t even super busy and considering that we came early (6:45 pm) for a Saturday night, they were already out of some items. Used to be a good place, now I have better choices in this city considering he cost of the food.
The best sushi place in Houston! We had an amazing meal and will be back soon.
Delicious sushi as always! Truffle tuna is superb, comes on a chilled plate to maintain the tuna’s perfect texture. L&J is another great app., love the jalapeño! Fun spot with great service:)
Bad service. We were the forgotten, unclaimed table.
Although we made reservations, we were seated in the bar area. The rest of the place was empty. Poor service (later realized it was the bartender waiting on us). Ordered lobster bisque, but my entree arrived without soup due to waiter forgetting. Lobster and shrimp rolls were under cooked. Fought and tasted more like chicken salad. Entree was not impressive. NYE dinner was a bust. Don’t bother going here.
Uptown Sushi delivers on consistent quality of food and service. High quality sushi for a very reasonable price. Our waitress, Grace, was awesome.
Very good food. Nice place
The food was outstanding, but the service was extremely slow. We had to wait 20-40 minutes between courses even though we ordered it all in the beginning.
Good service and food. Several menu choices and good variety.
My waiter provide the worse service ever. Even though we were seated I had to go to the bar several times to order a drink since the waiter didn’t return to the table.
Good place to go if you know sushi. Food was very good. Ambience OK, slightly annoying music, just generic pop re-mixes. Worst thing was the service. Waiter was brusque, a bit snooty, and not willing to help much with the order, even though we specifically said we didn't know sushi and could use some help.
Great Signature Cocktails and Martinis! Don’t miss the ‘Spicy Mexican Martini’.
Always enjoy Uptown sushi, however, new items would be fun and the decor
is looking tired and dated. The seating has tears in all the booth cushions.
It could be refreshed and revamped and a few new items would be fun.
My wife and I’s favorite restaurant in Houston!! Good service, best sashimi and drinks - excellent ambiance and people watching too!!!
Overall it overall a great place place to dine. The food is excellent, the waitress was very helpful. We accepted her recommendation which fantastic.
The food quality overall lack of flavor compare to the price paid for the meal...
Way to high prices for average sushi. Much better fare at Soma and other places. Aside from that, I thought I was on a former nightclub owing to the design of the place. Very odd to us with a very long way off light beige draperies, banquette seating, etc. Wouldn't go there again.
I took my boyfriend out for his birthday and he absolutely loves sushi. This was only our second time here and it's still outstanding, the food the service, and the environment. We give a big thanks to the complimentary dessert as well. Its one of our most go to sushi spots for sure!
One of my favorite Sushi places in Houston. You need to try the hot rock!
Food was excellent service was wonderful. Great night.
The yellowtail signature nigiri was excellent. The 7 1/2 roll was rich and delicious, and the Tata roll was refreshing so they were great together as nice counterpoints. My only complaint would be the incredibly lackluster wine list.
The ambiance and the service were great, but I found the roll menu to be short and not that diversified as expected.
As starters we tried the Teriyaki Rib Eye and the Lobster and Shrimp Roll. The Rib Eye was delicious and I do recommend, on the other hand the Roll wasn't crunch as it should, he dough was kind of saggy.
We ordered the Uka Roll, taste was good (not spectacular) but , comparing with others sushi restaurants, very expensive for the size and taste presented.
It's awesome but the wine list is awful. They don't even have Rose!
