   I had a wonderful time with my dad. We loved the food, with helpful suggestions from our server! And we loved the drinks. We even had dessert (superb Key Lime Pie). I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough. Bravo!

   We celebrated a birthday with 6 attendees Saturday night and enjoyed our meals and spirits. However, we did notice that a few of our favorite menu items were gone. Ashley provided us good service and our appetizers and entrees were prepared well. We were disappointed to observe only a few patrons were in the restaurant and bar areas for a Saturday evening. Hopefully this was due to the unusual weather situation and not a sign of the times.

   Uptown has always been a place to count on - the food and atmosphere have always been great. Unfortunately, I feel that this has changed. The shrimp bisque was bland and runny. The burger was just ok. The au gratin potatoes were more cream than cheese and potatoes. There were only two very generic options for dessert. I hope this was just an off night for Uptown.

   I realize we have had inflation, but the prices of some of the dishes have jumped dramatically recently. I guess it was inevitable…

   The lunch menu has been reduced to an unrecognizable size. Favorites are gone. Shrimp bisque shouldn’t be on the menu. I have never had a bisque so thin, colorless and lackluster. The Caesar salad recipe has changed drastically. The dressing is horrible. Doesn’t even taste like caesar dressing. I left 80% of my food on the plate/bowl.

   Dear Gina, We are so sorry your experience with our new lunch menu was less than stellar. We have worked hard to streamline the menu in order to serve the very best lunch we can, in these modern economic times, to our amazing clientele. Although that has left some of our past favorites just there, in the past, we hope people will find something on our new soup-salad-sandwich menu that can become a go-to favorite. I assure you that some of the dishes that started here in 1985, like the Uptown Caesar salad and the shrimp bisque have not changed at all in 40 years.    Uptown Cafe is a very nice place to dine. It’s been a staple in the Highlands for a very long time. Parking has always been a pain with a busy stream of traffic so Uptown has valet parking. Our waitress was attentive & our food was very good. I highly recommend their apple-Brie salad. Right blend of flavors.

   Our waiter Marty was very good. The food was delicious. I had chicken piccata, mashed potatoes and asparagus. My husband had the jagersnitzel, broccoli and mashed potatoes. Atmosphere and food were delicious. Will definitely return.
