The food, service and feel of the room is great.
Food was excellent. Getting drinks was very slow. Our server was very knowledgeable and great. Love the atmosphere...very relaxing and able to enjoy your conversations.
Food was terrific. The fries were a tad too salty but other than that...the blue crab bake was so good. There were huge chunks of crab in it. The waiter was spot on. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Had a wonderful evening. Ambience was great. Overall terrific and we will visit again.
Vodka martini up - was not good tasted off.
Bloody Mary - again did not taste good.
Got the pasta dish the pasta was not cooked through.
We were celebrating an engagement that just occurred and the whole staff was extremely accommodating.
Everything was excellent. Menu was a little adventurous, but had some safe choices available for the more timid diner. Cocktails were outstanding.
We were on a "movable feast" day trip to Pittsburg and Union Standard was on a list of best brunches in town so we gave it a try. Asked the waitress her favorite dish on the menu and she suggested the Reginetta Pasta with added chicken. At 1 pm, the restaurant was not packed but still respectably well seated. The vibe was attentive but a needed calm. When the pasta came, the waitress bought an extra plate without asking since we had explained our adventure. The dish itself was wondrous. The pasta was a perfect al dente rigatoni with a smokey, creamy parmesan sauce. With a mixed of Virginia ham, sliced potatoes, and cauliflower, the dish stood on its own but the grilled chicken was a welcome addition to make the dish a bit heartier for two. All in all, the Union Standard made a welcome stop on our culinary tour of Pittsburg.
We all had different entrees and they were all delicious.
Our fish was fresh but was not prepared well. We were charged for bread. That was a rip off. Service was OK. Overall disappointment.
Excellent food , atmosphere and the service was second to none! Really enjoyed it can’t wait to go back!
Great service, food and experience
The fried green tomato sandwich was intriguing and tasty. The service was pleasant and effective.
The service is excellent. Our server is bright, knowledgeable and willing to make the customer feel at home and that he/she will get exactly what is being ordered for his/her particular tastes and dietary restrictions. Yesterday, like everyday that I eat at the Union Standard I feel like I have dined with quality and with special treatment.
I have eaten there numerous times and food is always outstanding. Unique flavors!
Quick and friendly lunch service . Was a great place for catching up with a former colleague and friend. The chicken salad was delicious.
Chicken pot pie was delicious. Would hoghly recommend for lunch.
Visited on a quiet Sunday early evening. Service was great. Ambiance was really nice. Share the warm bread and the roasted peppers. The bread was very good but the peppers were bland. I had the halibut for my entree. The flavors were good but the fish was over cooked and dry. It was still a oof fish. My daughter had the scallops and was full after 3 leaving the last one for me. It looked like it had a nice light sear but it was raw. Maybe things were off because the place was so empty and they weren’t running at the efficiency necessary when the place is packed. I’d try it again maybe for brunch, but with so many great dining options in Pittsburgh I just can’t recommend this place.
Brunch was delicious and fun! We enjoyed the avocado toast, steak and eggs, and donuts.
It was delish and very pleasant as always!
We selected the swordfish from the Restaurant Week menu. It was excellent. Our complements to the chief!
The trout sandwich was exceptional. However, the cucumber salad needed a little flavor added. I just hope the lamb burger returns on the winter menu.
Tried it for the first time during Restaurant Week. The food was amazing. The heirloom tomato salad and the fried chicken were every day food Done to perfection. I can’t wait to go back.
Went for restaurant week and the preset menu was delicious!
Good food. Shared plates were a nice combo. Swordfish was cooked perfectly. Roasted chicken was very good. Noise level was pretty bad. Service was very good.
restaurent week food was excellent.. the salmon cooked to perfection and the desert was awesome.
The portion was veryyyyyy small!
The next question unless I am missing doesn’t give a dinner option. That is all I can recommend since I have only been there once.
Came for Pittsburgh Restaurant Week, Summer 2019. The food was great and the ambiance was nice. Reasonable portions and had a great time. We really enjoyed the tearaway bread.
I felt like we were sort of crammed in the lower level - was hoping to dine upstairs and I probably could've asked but didn't. Just seemed like they were clumping people together for convenience of servers or something. Also, I'm happy to pay a high price for a quality meal but $46 for a strip steak and $36 for pork is very high in my opinion, compared to similar restaurants that we patronize.
Absolutely delicious food with seasonal choices and non-standard offerings. Absolutely loved every course I had!
Great food great atmosphere. Love the raw oysters, and the Halibut dinner was on point!!
Service, whether at bar or in dining unfortunately not consistently up to par with the excellent food. Go for the food!
This is a well-conceived restaurant with plenty of menu choice, excellent service, and wonderful value. Right next to the William Penn Hotel, it will be a regular stop for us when we are in Pittsburgh.
Our salads and mains were all very well prepared and everyone enjoyed their meals, all three of us.
The only reason I did no give the food 5 stars is my dinner, the halibut, had way too much salt on it. It was a great piece of fish well prepared and the salt over powered the entire dish.
Pricey creative menu. Food was very enjoyable. Laid back ambiance. Advertised "Smart casual" dress but seemed to be just simply "casual." Great location if you like Dahntahn
Food was awesome waitstaff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back.
Cool new place definitely worth checking out! We enjoyed everything we tried!
My husband and I had never been to Pittsburgh before. The restaurant menu sounded appetizing. It was walking distance from our hotel. We had been to Detroit recently and our waiter was from Michigan so we had a lovely chat with him. The food was very good. We would recommend the place to others and will return the next time we come to Pittsburgh for a visit.
Our reservation was at 530. We did not revive our entrees until 7:10. Wait time was unacceptable.
Food outstanding, higher end cost, server was great until he got busier, hard time clearing when we were finished, to desert menu we had to decline, and then check too, a lot longer than it should’ve, we had concert tickets and needed to leave.
