I have eaten there numerous times and food is always outstanding. Unique flavors!
Quick and friendly lunch service . Was a great place for catching up with a former colleague and friend. The chicken salad was delicious.
Chicken pot pie was delicious. Would hoghly recommend for lunch.
Visited on a quiet Sunday early evening. Service was great. Ambiance was really nice. Share the warm bread and the roasted peppers. The bread was very good but the peppers were bland. I had the halibut for my entree. The flavors were good but the fish was over cooked and dry. It was still a oof fish. My daughter had the scallops and was full after 3 leaving the last one for me. It looked like it had a nice light sear but it was raw. Maybe things were off because the place was so empty and they weren’t running at the efficiency necessary when the place is packed. I’d try it again maybe for brunch, but with so many great dining options in Pittsburgh I just can’t recommend this place.
Brunch was delicious and fun! We enjoyed the avocado toast, steak and eggs, and donuts.
It was delish and very pleasant as always!
We selected the swordfish from the Restaurant Week menu. It was excellent. Our complements to the chief!
The trout sandwich was exceptional. However, the cucumber salad needed a little flavor added. I just hope the lamb burger returns on the winter menu.
Tried it for the first time during Restaurant Week. The food was amazing. The heirloom tomato salad and the fried chicken were every day food Done to perfection. I can’t wait to go back.
Went for restaurant week and the preset menu was delicious!
Good food. Shared plates were a nice combo. Swordfish was cooked perfectly. Roasted chicken was very good. Noise level was pretty bad. Service was very good.
restaurent week food was excellent.. the salmon cooked to perfection and the desert was awesome.
The portion was veryyyyyy small!
The next question unless I am missing doesn’t give a dinner option. That is all I can recommend since I have only been there once.
Came for Pittsburgh Restaurant Week, Summer 2019. The food was great and the ambiance was nice. Reasonable portions and had a great time. We really enjoyed the tearaway bread.
I felt like we were sort of crammed in the lower level - was hoping to dine upstairs and I probably could've asked but didn't. Just seemed like they were clumping people together for convenience of servers or something. Also, I'm happy to pay a high price for a quality meal but $46 for a strip steak and $36 for pork is very high in my opinion, compared to similar restaurants that we patronize.
Absolutely delicious food with seasonal choices and non-standard offerings. Absolutely loved every course I had!
Great food great atmosphere. Love the raw oysters, and the Halibut dinner was on point!!
Service, whether at bar or in dining unfortunately not consistently up to par with the excellent food. Go for the food!
This is a well-conceived restaurant with plenty of menu choice, excellent service, and wonderful value. Right next to the William Penn Hotel, it will be a regular stop for us when we are in Pittsburgh.
Our salads and mains were all very well prepared and everyone enjoyed their meals, all three of us.
The only reason I did no give the food 5 stars is my dinner, the halibut, had way too much salt on it. It was a great piece of fish well prepared and the salt over powered the entire dish.
Pricey creative menu. Food was very enjoyable. Laid back ambiance. Advertised "Smart casual" dress but seemed to be just simply "casual." Great location if you like Dahntahn
Food was awesome waitstaff were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely be back.
Cool new place definitely worth checking out! We enjoyed everything we tried!
My husband and I had never been to Pittsburgh before. The restaurant menu sounded appetizing. It was walking distance from our hotel. We had been to Detroit recently and our waiter was from Michigan so we had a lovely chat with him. The food was very good. We would recommend the place to others and will return the next time we come to Pittsburgh for a visit.
Our reservation was at 530. We did not revive our entrees until 7:10. Wait time was unacceptable.
Food outstanding, higher end cost, server was great until he got busier, hard time clearing when we were finished, to desert menu we had to decline, and then check too, a lot longer than it should’ve, we had concert tickets and needed to leave.
It was perfect for a Sunday brunch catching up with out-of-town friends. It was quiet enough that we could easily hear each other. The food was reasonably priced as well. We did feel a little rushed to leave even though there wasn't anyone waiting to occupy our table.
My second visit - seated downstairs which is more casual than the upstairs dining room. Very good food, service.
The food was amazing! Great flavors and generous portion size. Very nice looking space. Will definitely go back.
Long black hair on top of burger bun. No one returned to the table to check on meal for 5+ min. Provided another meal but no financial compensation. The group has dined before and we will not be returning.
Outstanding cuisine..original menu..
This was my second visit. I left a bit underwhelmed after my first visit. The ambience of the restaurant left me wanting. It's rather stark and dark. I left wondering if the space was once upon a time a bank. I did very much enjoy my salad, but the other courses were forgettable and the service was slow. Flash forward to this evening's visit and meal. Everything was excellent, from front of house to check. My first visit may have been one of those "off" nights. However, tonight's meal more than made up for it. My only suggestions are they need to expand their wine list. The offerings were good, but not surprising or intriguing. For a restaurant with food at this level, they should have a sommelier consult on the wine list. Also, their desserts don't live up to the other food offerings. They are a bit of a letdown. I skipped dessert on the second visit. That said, the rest of the food is 4 stars and I enjoyed it immensely.
maybe it was the super hot summer night and the downtown location that limited the crowd, but Union Standard was on point and DELICIOUS. unclear why it was so quiet!
We had a great experience here from the professional staff to the delicious food. The smoked chicken is some of the best that we have ever eaten and we will definitely be returning!
Food was fantastic. Would get the trout dish again in a heartbeat. I need to know how those fingerling potatoes were made because they were delicious!
Overall food was great, service was excellent, location relatively easy to get to, only real complaint would be the noise, it was exceptionally loud. One thing that surprised me was, for the price point, the casualness of the customers there.
I definitely go again
The chicken salad sandwich was a little dry and it just seemed a little overpriced. Everyone else agreed it was just ok. Our server was helpful and had a good personality.
As usual. This place did not disappoint. We had not visited in a while; but this is one of our favorite spots in PGH. We had hoped that it had not changed from what we expected. We were not disappointed. A few new changes to the menu; however, all of our favorites were there. The atmosphere is perfect and we sat and enjoyed dinner with friends for several hours.
The food was edible. Mussels were so small, it was barely worth the effort. Potato bread was excellent as were the grilled shisito peppers. Roasted chicken, lamb sirloin, and trout were all just fine. Nothing exciting. Everything has a heavy smoke scent or flavor; just too much. Will not be going back. Our service was quite good, but everything was extremely overpriced for what was received.
