Union Prime Ratings and Reviews
The food and atmosphere at Union Prime is quite good, the service is far from it. We arrived early for our 8 p.m. reservation meeting friends at the bar. The restaurant was more than half empty. Waited at the bar for almost 10 minutes, waiting for one of the two bartenders to pay any attention to us. Had a round of drinks and moved to the table. Paper menus were flimsy and stained, something I did not expect at a restaurant of this caliber. The staff was more suited to a casual restaurant or Pub, not a fine dining restaurant. We ordered several sushi rolls as an appetizer, which arrived quickly but we're somewhat, bland. Not bad, but nothing special. We ordered our entrees which arrived quickly and were quite good. Ribeye steak was tender and cooked as ordered. Sea bass what's moist and flavorful, but on the small side. Dishes with cleared, we ordered coffee and cappuccino. Coffee arrived, followed five minutes later by the check (which we did not tequest). We tried to order a round of drinks, but our server was nowhere to be found. We left the table and went to the bar. Another wait for one of the bartenders to stop talking with one another and take out drink order. We sat at the bar for about 15 minutes talking when they began shutting the lights. Felt it was time to leave. In short, good food, poor service. If you plan on spending $100+ per person, for dinner, I would spend it at Peter Luger or Morton's.
Couldn't help but compare it to Morton's which is next door. The setting was much nicer at Union and the food was just as good with a greater variety, but at Union used plates were left on the table between courses and crumbs and splattered food were never cleared. Plates were piled upon removal from the table and no one refolded a napkin when a guest left the table. These are little things but they make a difference.
We had dinner here Christmas night & the restaurant is very pretty. Service from the host to waiter was wonderful. They are so friendly & attentive. The food was good. Unfortunately some of the bread in the bread basket was stale. Salads were great. Apps were very good. All of us had fish entrees that were so overpriced. And this was their normal menu, not a holiday menu. For example the bronzini fish was $49!! We just had this at Kyma 3 days prior for $33 with beautiful ambiance & another restaurant nearby earlier in the week for $29. Union is crazy expensive & no better. We found the prices for the seared ahi Tuna also high. Food was delicious but not worth the price when you can get the same elsewhere. We enjoyed our night but wouldn’t go back.
Average food at a very expensive price. Steak ordered did not arrive as requested. Service was good however. Restaurant is very pricey for the quality of food served. Ambiance is ok but nothing special. There are much nicer restaurants in the area that provide much better quality food.
Went to Union Prime for Thanksgiving with 8 people. Their priced fixed menu for the holiday was a 3 course dinner. The dinner was a choice of 3 entrees including Turkey and 2 other entrees. The choice of appetizers was salads and other hot appetizers. Two of the group just had the salmon dish from the menu. Their regular menu was available. The service was outstanding. The wait staff was friendly and accommodating. The food was excellent. The turkey was tasty with just enough gravy. The salmon was excellent, prepared perfectly. The desert that I had was pumpkin pie and was the choice of all of the guests. It was typical pumpkin pie and was enjoyed by all. The restaurant was able to accommodate a woman in a wheel chair, a person who needed to have a gluten free dinner (no stuffing), and one who had a peanut allergy. So they can make accommodation's if needed. I highly recommend this restaurant and intend to return to sample their regular menu.
I’m not surprised this place is empty on a Friday night. I️ expected overpriced food, but didn’t expect terrible service. We waited extremely long times after orders were placed, including drink orders, and then waited over 40 minutes for the check after asking multiple times. Of course there was no apology when the check was finally handed to us. No acknowledgement from wait staff or management to address our sub-par experience (an apology or explanation would have been appreciated). Maybe we weren’t as appreciated because we were a table of 2 instead of our usual 10, but we’ll make sure none of us waste or time or money here again.
This is one of our favorite restaurants. The food is outstanding and the service is excellent.one caution, be sure to check if there is a private party scheduled. The party area is a section of the dining room and the noise level was unbearable. We had a 5:30 reservation and the party was in progress, ending at 6:00. For the 1/2hour it was awful. After that, it was wonderful. It would have been nice if the manager had suggested we move our reservation to 6 p.m., or at least comped the drinks to compensate for the inconvenienc.
The food is excellent; love the new sauce with the Hot Lover Sushi appetizer! The service was incredible; Love Dominick and Javier, who are always available to ask questions. Dominick also always has excellent wine recommendations.
Carlos was new and most outstanding, ready to assist and serve. Courteous, smiling, and friendly. Love the service and would always recommend Union!
We eat a lot of sushi, and have been spoiled in the past (Hawaii sushi can't compare)...This place in our opinion was worth the money spent, and we found it just as good if not better then the Sushi we had in Hawaii.
Steak was cooked to perfection (black and Blue perfection!)
Get the dinosaur egg... it melts in your mouth
Get the Tuna TarTar.. its delicious
Not one complaint! Highly highly recommend!
Once again, we enjoyed a delicious steak diner at Union Prime. The service is prompt and courteous, the portions appropriate, and the steaks are delicious! We have been dining here since its opening, and have yet to be disappointed! I highly recommend this steakhouse - for the record, they have excellent sushi as well!
Excellent Salad. Unfortunately the Kansas City Steak was overseasoned and yet basically tasteless. At $99 for two it was an expensive waste of money. Seven pieces of meat for two people with the first piece that the waiter put on my plate being all fat (no exaggeration, no meat at all on this piece.
