Great dinner out! Loved the prix-fixe, although I know that is not everyone's cup of tea. Portions were great, flavors incredible, and service was friendly and attentive.
Birthday; a sweet candle in dessert
Always a fine time there, and the food can be counted upon to be good. Usually dine there a few times a year, and will continue to do so!
Everything was outstanding!
We come here often. Love the food the service and ambiance.
We come down to southern Jersey once a year and Union Park is the only thing on the "must do" list.
We always ask for Shirley to be our server and she just adds that special something to the occasion.
Celebrated a 70th Birthday there on April 3rd, 2021. Very pleased that they reopened as the food was such good quality. We chose the scallops for the appetizer, lobster tails and duck. The creme brûlée and fruit tart were both excellent choices. There were many servers, bus boys & girls to take away plates and refill water glasses. We would return if back in Cape May again in the future.
The finest restaurant I've had the pleasure to dine in in Cape May. Expensive, but the food is worth it.
We are repeat customers, and always enjoy UP. The scaled back Covid menu provided more than enough choices. Chicken and petit tender were top shelf. Beet salad appetizer was a huge hit. BYO (if you don't want local wined), so you don't get gouged by the alcohol markup. Shirley our server was definitely value added. We are probably over reacting to sitting in a room with other people, but heartedly recommend UP.
We had our great service, great food, best table in our minds in the house. Best place to dine in Cape May, reiterates our repeat dining there.
Our dinner was beautifully presented and prepared. Service was excellent. We opted for four courses. We both started with the Foie Gras, which was outstanding! My husband followed with the Tuna Tartare and I with the Bay Scallops, again both where excellent. For our main courses, my husband had the Duck Trio and I had the Rare Tuna with Saffron cream, delicious! We both finished with the Fruit Tart that had the most delicate pasty, just perfect. This was only our second dinner out during covid. We both felt Very comfortable, it was very apparent that Union Park prioritized customer safety. We will definitely be back.
Really expensive yet lovely as treat
We make a habit out of dining at Union Park whenever we are in Cape May. They are consistently one of the best restaurants in the area. The menu is not pretentious, yet sophisticated. The flavors, portion size and presentation are always on point. The staff is friendly and attentive, and while the decor may be a bit dated, that is par for the course in Cape May. During Covid, the tables were nicely spaced apart and all safety protocols were followed. Definitely one to try when in Cape May.
The food choices were excellent in all 3
Courses. Our waitress Shirley was very attentive and pleasant which made our dining experience memorable,
had a 3-course tasting menu and added a higher-priced entree
Food was very good as well as the service. Just wist a few more entrees were on the "regular" list
Possible since it was the end of season
Recommend to others
We went on a whim and caught one of the best end of season dining experiences, ever. Social distancing offered us an intimate but romantic open air porch table for two. It was cool but comfortable and offered a perfect view of beach side Cape May. The meal was prefix and delicious. 3 courses with tempting options. We opted to upgrade our entrees and wasn't disappointed. Not our first time here and wont be the last. The chef and his impeccable staff are absolutely 5 stars out of 5!
Always an excellent experience. We love dinner on the covered front porch with views of the ocean across the street.
We eat at this restaurant at least once a month during the summer and it never disappoints. Great service and great food. Very well run!!
too bad they are closing for rest of year.
this is a great dinning experience.
God bless the during these un precedented times.
My Husband and I decided to try out Union Park for the first time while on vacation. The dining room was gorgeous and the service was outstanding. We loved that we could bring our own wine. Food was very good but very small portions (he had the tuna tartar for an appetizer & I had the scallop ceviche..both of which were VERY small) Dinner portions weren’t that much better. For the amount of money spent there, the portion should be a little bigger.
Reasons I give the experience 1 star - I would have given less than 1 if that was possible as this has been the worst dining experience we have had in a long time:
- Insufficient precautions under covid-19: Servers only wear face shields. As of today, the CDC does not recommend the use of face shields as a substitute for masks. Other guests are allowed to move around the restaurant without masks.
- Appearance of restroom less than optimal and close to disgusting for a restaurant that pretends to provide high quality standards.
- $60/person fixed price menu that was short in quality and quantity.
- Poor service: Our server was very close to be considered rude.
- After we were 45 minutes at the table, we were approached by the restaurant manager and asked to leave as they had othe people waiting to dine. Literally.
I would not recommend Union Park at all. They do not deliver the upscale service they advertise they do.
We are so disappointed our favorite place closed this last weekend due to COVID.... we have told so many people about our favorite place.... thank you to the waitstaff, the owners, the managers and the chef for never being disappointed, even in the face of a pandemic.... April can’t get here soon enough....
The portions were extremely small, the Caesar salad did not even have one crouton or black pepper. The lobster was a small as eating shrimp. I’m so disappointed it was my mother’s 80 bday dinner and no one even acknowledged it.
I've lived in Cape May for almost 5 years now, and thought I had it all figured out, somehow Union Park never hit my radar, on a mission to try something new we settled on Union Park, and man, am I more than happy that I did. We hit it the last night before they close for the season, and due to the limited indoor seating and limited reservations we grabbed a 5 o'clock reservation, several hours earlier than our norm. We sat on the out door porch which overlooks beach ave and the Atlantic on the far side, very nice. Service was spectacular, its BYOB so keep that in mind, and at this particular time, pandemic time, they were running a limited 3 course prix fixe menu, app, main and desert. They had add ons, which we took advantage of by ordering oysters for a starter while we enjoyed a glass of wine and took in the view and people watched. Dinner, I had Bay Scallop civeche for my app, twin lobster tails for a main and Creme Brulee for desert, my wife had Tuna Tartar for an App, scallops for a main and a fruit tart for a desert. All I can say is WOW, I do not have one single thing I can even nit pick, the service was stellar, view and company were spectacular, and the food, oh man, the food, I said it that night to my wife, it was well in my top five meals ever, like maybe top one or two. I am not even slightly exaggerating, it was that good. Funny part of this was that I had made reservations about a week earlier, I had originally thought I made them for Saturday night, and on Saturday morning, I realized that I had made them for the night before, Friday and I inadvertently skipped my resy!!! Something I NEVER do. I was able to get the 5 pm for Saturday and I professed my sincerest apologies for standing them up the night before which they accepted graciously. Bonus points, since we had such an early res, were were able to take the mostly full second bottle of wine and walk on the beach to see the sunset. It was a perfect evening. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!! I will be back!!
One of the best dining experiences I have ever had.
Wonderful service and fantastic food!
Ditto, nice job
We will go monthly :)
I took my husband for dinner on his birthday. We were seated promptly though we were a few minutes early. Wait staff was courteous and pleasant and appropriately covered for the pandemic. The food was excellent. Prix fixe menu was varied with something for everyone.
Service was great, but that’s about it. Food was very mediocre. Presentation made it look great, but not a lot of flavor unfortunately. Another place that only serves New Jersey wine, why?
The restaurant is very cute and quaint. The service was amazing. We had the foie gras, tuna tartare and crab cake for appetizers, they were outstanding! The short rib was fenomenal, so was the lamb loin! Again, if you are looking for a dinner experience that will wow you, this is the place to be.
We had a very nice dinner with social distancing in the dining room. Food was very good . Service was great. The menu was only a Prix Fixed at $60 pp. Would like to return if you can order off the menu rather than required 3 courses.
The wait staff were properly protected with clear face shields & gloves. We were seated inside, even though we were suppose to be outside- but it was windy and that made it perfect. Food was very good as always. The pre fixe menu was the only option and was almost twice as much as they usually charge. But considering all the new restrictions we understood. The add on were over priced, but it was customer's choice.
Excellent food, great service, romantic atmosphere
Delish! I had scallops and crab cake and my husband had short ribs! We ate on the porch. Our server was Jennifer. She was very professional and knowledgeable. It was a prix menu, which was perfect! We were happy to be able to make reservation at open table.
Most courses the food was very good. I did have to send the lamb back as I ordered it MR, and was clear I definitely wanted it pink, it came back well done. I never send food back but I can’t eat well done lamb. By the time I got mine, my husband was done. Also, for a 20th anniversary, I thought they would’ve acknowledged it. In the booking we indicated what we were celebrating. I’m used to Napa...they always make you feel special when celebrating...the Foie Gras and Oysters were amazing!!! As was the duck trio!
Say outside on the porch. Nice calm experience, food was great and service was exceptional for the end of the season. Definitely going back when they reopen Spring 2021.
Thanks well done
Thought the restaurant was very overpriced. Pre-Fix menu was fine however the additional options pushed the overall per plate price over $80. Definitely not worth the price. Restaurant needs a refresh. Very dated.
