We also reserve a portion of our tables for walk-in customers, and the bar is is open to walk-ins exclusively.
This is a very good restaurant. Beautiful interior with a very well curated menu. Everything was very good.
It is becoming our favorite go-to place. What was a little off putting was a notice at the beginning of the reservation
process indicating that I had 90 minutes to complete my meals. I would finished in that time
Usually but to see it first thing was really not necessary. There are many ways you can hurry along customers, making
People feel uncomfortable before they have even walked through the door shouldn’t be one of them.
Great food! Great location and our waitress was awesome
food was delicious, suggestion for the future - add a chocolate dessert - may chocolate flourless torte
Our waiter was helpful but not overbearing and made our experience a memorable one. The farro bowl with ahi tuna was flavorful and tasty and enough to take home leftovers. My husbands short ribs with mac and cheese was decadent and well cooked and seasoned. Our friends thoroughly enjoyed their meal and we all can’t wait to go back and try other items on the menu. I highly recommend trying this place. Kudos to the chef and the back of the house!
Both food and service were top notch. We started with arugula salad, and then we had the braised short ribs and flat iron steak. All good was cooked to perfection. The server was on top of it and didn’t miss a beat. Highly recommend Union Kitchen!
Four of us had an early 5PM dinner on a Sunday. Our first experience at UK was a positive one. The service and food was excellent. I had the half chicken which was delicious. We sat at a regular height table by the window. The restaurant ambiance was nice despite our table needing a shim under one leg to eliminate a wobble.
First time dining at Union Kitchen. Loved the Happy Hour small bites and drinks, offered EVERY day of the week. Guacamole was delicious!
One of our two appetizers was delicious (crispy brussel sprouts), but the meat board was very average. And of our 3 different entrees, 1 was very good (seared scallops), 1 was good just very heavy (short ribs), & the other was average (sea bass). Really nice restaurant though! And the service was totally fine. Just inconsistent food quality.
A nice addition to the West Hartford food scene.
It was excellent as usual. The food was delicious. The service was a bit slow though.
Adorable place, amazing service
Service and atmosphere were great, food was okay.
The menu was exciting and the food was great! The service was wonderful, it did get loud as the night got later but I will definitely go back.
Food experience was just fair this time. We have been here multiple times and this time the food was not nearly as good from previous experiences. Poor presentation, dry salmon and chewy over-salted steak.
The ambience and service are good here but i found the good overpriced and a bit lacking in flavor. For example, the appetizer menus had a dish entitled “whole prawns”...they were not prawns, or whole - they were shelled and deveined shrimp. The charcuterie tray says it has mustard and jams ...the jams consisted of about 4 small dots of decorative jam - not enough for even one piece of bread. My daughter got the Bavette steak sandwich and found it mediocre ...again - lot of things on the menu look great and creative - the execution was just lacking on some of the dishes for that price. That said the salads were very good and seemed reasonably priced for what you got.
Went for dinner and loved everything about this place. The food was amazing. We had apps, salad, entree & dessert and all were exceptional. Atmosphere was great and our server was very knowledgeable and friendly. Will definitely be visiting again.
The food was excellent and properly prepared. Service was good as well.
First time there. Great food, great location, helpful staff. Great evening.
We went for Father’s Day dinner. Great service and delicious food. This is becoming a favorite
This was my birthday dinner without kids. Food and service were great
Great service and food. The portions are very generous.
Lunch for 3. Server was excellent - attentive but not intrusive. Good variety of items on the lunch menu. Portions were generous and presented in an appetizing manner. Each of us was complimentary about the quality of the food. All in all, an exceptional dining experience.
What a great find. Vibrant space inside, people having fun and food that was incredibly delicious. This is my second visit, and I will certainly be back again. Everything was perfect about this place.
We always suggest U.K. to our friends and are never disappointed.
The staff was so nice. The restaurant has a great decor and ambience. We sat at the bar ordered a great bottle of sauvignon blanc and the waitress brought nice crusty warm olive bread and oil. We decided on the short ribs with macaroni and cheese and the Half roasted chicken. Oh my! That mac and cheese with beef was soooo good we finished the whole bowl of it and wished for more! The chicken was perfectly cooked with a crusty skin and served with yummy mashed potatoes & spinach. We were full, so we didn't order dessert but we will definitely be back!
This is a welcome addition to the West Hartford restaurant scene. The chef/owner is creative, creating unique dishes from traditional themes. We have been there twice now. The roast chicken was outstanding. The iceberg wedge salad is a must have if that is your thing. It is an entire small head of iceberg, completely coated in blue cheese dressing with fresh chopped bacon Sprinkled on top.
I tried the meatloaf which sounded interesting: garnish with mushrooms and short rib. The meat loaf itself is to dry for my taste; that problem could be solved with more fat in the meat. The accompanying truffle fries were fresh with a lovely truffle aroma. My wife’s salmon was cooked perfectly to her medium rare request
A full bar as a knowledgeable bartender who has no problem filling esoteric requests (They knew how to make a Brooklyn cocktail!).
We have had two different servers, both knowledgeable about the menu And attentive to our needs. On warm nights, diners can eat outside, or near the front of the restaurant where the windows have been opened.
For my money, this place has it all and deserves to be successful. I encourage you to give it a try. I plan to work my way through the menu because I think the chef knows what he’s doing.
Finally, don’t park In the lot directly behind the restaurant. There are signs stating that you will be towed, and we were! After hours you can park in the bank lot next to the restaurant without a problem.
Overall, we enjoyed our experience. Drinks at the bar were good, albeit pricey. Comfortable bar seating. For dinner, we were seated in a comfortable booth adjacent to the bar, which was good for people watching, but noisy. The menu gave us a lot of options, high pricing typical of West Hartford center. The brussel sprouts and hummus appetizers were delicious; the brussel sprouts were really salty. Everyone enjoyed their entrees, but found everything to be really salty, particularly the salmon. Normally, I wouldn't comment on the food being salty, but too much is too much. We'll visit again with a word to the chef to control the salt.
We eat often in West Hartford and were looking forward to trying out this relatively new restaurant. We made a reservation with OpenTable, which was immediately honored. While it was a beautiful day, we chose to eat inside, but near the sliding window, so there was a nice, almost outdoorsy feel. The noise level was moderate, but the background music was horrendous. We were shown the brunch menu and chose a wedge salad as an appetizer and two main courses. The wedge salad was excellent. My pasta dish was good, but somewhat less meaty than I was expecting; the noodles were definitely fresh, but somewhat doughy -- more "al dente" than I'm used to. My husband's fried chicken sandwich was rather flavorless, but attractively presented; the side of truffle fries was as described in the menu, but I think we are just not truffle-fries people. The service was quite attentive. The acid test: would we go back? The restaurant is very good, but I'm not sure it has an edge on other venues in West Hartford, like Bricco's or A'vert, which offer similar menus. That said, if someone wanted to meet for a meal there, we would certainly agree to join them and anticipate another "very good" meal.
Had dinner with some close friends and decided to try the restaurant for the first time. Our table was ready on arrival. Everything was great. The waitress was very attentive and personable. Many good choices on the menu and the food was delicious. Would definitely return. A bit noisy but just what you would expect from a full restaurant on a Saturday night in West Hartford so was not a problem for the four of us. Well done Union Kitchen.
Nice outdoor patio. Appetizers were good.
Service was somewhat slow. Dinner was just average.
my new favorite restaurant
I am concerned that is does not seem to be busy- hope it can stay
Decent meal. Holiday dinner so I will wait until next visit to give more accurate review.
We had a pretty perfect dining experience. The ambiance was excellent and the food was amazing. We tried the fried brussel sprouts and they were soooooo good. My wife and I had two drinks (I had the Mulberry Mule) and they were fantastic. Finding an upscale place with good drinks, food, AND a place we can come as a family is usually a struggle but Union has the perfect blend of all three. We ate about midday and the restaurant was pretty empty by the time we finished eating. We brought our daughter who is four. She was pretty good during the meal, but after the waitress dropped off the check we sat for what must've been 15 minutes waiting for her to come back which is agonizing with an antsy toddler. It frustrated us since the restaurant was empty and we could see our server in the kitchen area fraternizing with other waitstaff. We eventually ended up scrounging up what cash we had to just cover the check with a minimal tip and left. Despite this frustrating ending we enjoyed our experience overall and don't think we wouldn't recommend off of the actions of one server. Hoping our next visit will have a happier ending!
Went for Mothers Day, 2019. Service was excellent as was our meals. Recommended
Food was great, service average and the noise level made it tough to have a conversation with our friends.
Food was average. Noise was overwhelming.
Food was amazing. Duck Poutine was awesome. Short ribs melted in my mouth. Definitely a keeper.
Outstanding food, service and vibe. This was our second time, and we will be back again!
My wife and I came
