Serving inventive Japanese cuisine using the freshest seafood from Tokyo’s famed Tsukiji market and local New England fishermen, and borrowing influence from the streets of Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok and Bangladesh, Uni is the evolution of Ken Oringer’s intimate sashimi bar of the same name, which expanded into the former Clio space in 2016. Our evening started with a mistaken booking at outdoor seating which we hadn’t recognized- although the restaurant was quite full the manager was able to find a three top table inside which was wonderful- we then had an absolutely marvelous meal- each piece of sushi was a piece of art. Our New York City son who was dining with us and had just come back from Tokyo said the food was superb- from the inventive salads, the sushi, the wagyu beef dumplings, and several lovely desserts. The staff was very schooled in explanation and very kind and unobtrusive- a wonderful meal- thank you all- we certainly will be back

I have been to Uni before and been very pleased with both the food and the service. This experience did not live up to those standards. We sat in the lower level and frankly were ignored. The food was very slow in coming out and our server never checked on us to explain or ask how things were once served. This appeared to be in contrast to other diners in the area. The food was lovely but not as tasty or elegantly prepared as previously- Overall a disappointing experience

Another amazing experience. We've been here a few times and it is always excellent. The service is warm, approachable, fun and informative. Food is consistently amazing, but this visit, with the inclusion of many seasonal items and the ongoing creativity was just top notch.

Excellent food and service was perfect. A bit loud, and strange that our family of 5 was seated at a table for 4… when the entire rest of the restaurant remained vacant. That part made no sense, but the food made up for it, as did the drinks.

Truly extraordinary food, and amazing service that contributed to a very special occasion! We went with the tasting menu, which was absolutely outstanding and gave us an opportunity to try things that we would not necessarily choose ourselves.

Our recent visit to Uni was a wonderful experience. We made a same-day reservation and secured a counter seat, which turned out to be perfect. The seating provided ample space, and watching the chefs at work was like observing master technicians and artists in action. We enjoyed a delightful selection of dishes: shishito peppers, miso soup, fried chicken bao bun, tuna poke, spicy tuna makimono, and wagyu dumplings. Each dish was excellent, bursting with fresh flavors and artful presentation. The standout items were the shishito peppers, bao bun, soup, and tuna dishes, which were exceptionally flavorful. The wagyu dumplings, while good, felt a bit underwhelming compared to the other outstanding offerings. The service at Uni was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and meticulously ensured our food was allergy-safe, which we greatly appreciated. In summary, Uni offers an outstanding dining experience with top-notch food, stellar service, and an engaging atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit—5/5 stars without hesitation.
