Serving inventive Japanese cuisine using the freshest seafood from Tokyo’s famed Tsukiji market and local New England fishermen, and borrowing influence from the streets of Tokyo, Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok and Bangladesh, Uni is the evolution of Ken Oringer’s intimate sashimi bar of the same name, which expanded into the former Clio space in 2016. UNI is currently helmed by Executive Chef David Bazirgan.

Our recent visit to Uni was a wonderful experience. We made a same-day reservation and secured a counter seat, which turned out to be perfect. The seating provided ample space, and watching the chefs at work was like observing master technicians and artists in action. We enjoyed a delightful selection of dishes: shishito peppers, miso soup, fried chicken bao bun, tuna poke, spicy tuna makimono, and wagyu dumplings. Each dish was excellent, bursting with fresh flavors and artful presentation. The standout items were the shishito peppers, bao bun, soup, and tuna dishes, which were exceptionally flavorful. The wagyu dumplings, while good, felt a bit underwhelming compared to the other outstanding offerings. The service at Uni was impeccable. The staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and meticulously ensured our food was allergy-safe, which we greatly appreciated. In summary, Uni offers an outstanding dining experience with top-notch food, stellar service, and an engaging atmosphere. Highly recommend a visit—5/5 stars without hesitation.

Delicious! But expensive. Started off with the uni spoon- heaven in a bite. The foie gras and spicy tuna was delicious. We tried nigiri that we normally would not find on a sushi menu - nigiri - kinmedqi, mehikari, itoyori, and they were all very good. Had two rolls - spicy negihama and salmon avocado. The salmon roll was good. Spicy negihama was spicy but not as flavorful. Overall - very good. The service seems a little laidback and casual for the price..

The food was fresh, well presented and excellent! We enjoyed trying new things, flavors were interesting and pleasant. Service was fantastic! Our server was very helpful guiding us through the menu and offering great suggestions. Cocktails were very nice. We sat outside and enjoyed the hum of the city life. We don’t hesitate to recommend Uni!

Wouldn’t do omakase here again. Even sitting at the counter you don’t get the experience of a chef making something for you, it’s 3-5 chefs making different dishes serving them 3 pieces at a time. Rice comes cold and overall subpar compared to good omakase places. At around $350 per person for just chefs menu it’s definitely not great. The fish was good, and chefs seem nice but this is not a typical omakase experience. This is a big restaurant that just has an upsell option that is the same at the counter and at any table. $32 for bafun uni is also on the pricier side (but not unusual), would imagine they’d have more uni options (based on being called uni).

Uni is not a 'sushi place'. It is an innovative, cool, stylish laboratory creating incredible Asian food that includes raw fish served as Sashimi, Nigiri and Maki as well as kitchen specials like Wagyu dumplings, Fried chicken Bao bun as well as 14 other dishes. Great wine list and Saki for all budgets and palettes. Save room for dessert, the chocolate basil panna cotta was remarkably delicious and different.

Inspired, creative, and thoughtfully crafted food. Impeccable service and great ambiance. Drinks are both strong and delicious. Definitely a more expensive experience but worth every dime. The food here makes my soul sing. Went for my birthday and it was very memorable.
