Wonderful food, very pricey wine.
Both whites we had were slammed by wines half their price.
We used to love this restaurant for birthdays and anniversaries. Our recent visit left us feeling that the prices have increased, but the quality and quantity of the food has decreased.
Very disappointing. We’ve been here several times and it’s always been good, pricy, but good. What irritated us the most is we specifically said “No Onions” on anything and 4 of the 7 dishes we ordered had onion in it !!!!!!! Soup was warm at best which really is annoying. The server was pushing the eggplant appetizer because the table next to us had it also.
We took her recommendation and was not impressed .
It was a business dinner so was very disappointing.
Great food and service!
While we've had enjoyable meals here before, tonight was a real disappointment. I will think twice before coming back. We arrived on time for an 8:15 reservation and were told they were running 10 minutes late. Okay, no problem. A half hour later, they said it would be another 10 minutes! At 9:00 pm we were finally seated with lots of excuses about "people not leaving". You're a restaurant. Your job is to understand your table turn rate. Had I been told at 8:15 that my reservation was pointless and it was a 45-minute wait, I would have walked down to any other restaurant on First Street and could certainly find something that didn't have a 45-minute wait.
Unfortunately, there was nothing special about the dinner that warranted either the wait or the "premium" price. Did you really just charge me $9 for 4 tiny wonton chips with a dab of goat cheese? Why, yes, you did. The entrees were fine but nothing special. The room was too loud to be able to converse comfortably with those at my own table (although I do know everything about the kitchen remodel of the people at the next table).
Quite mediocre compared to the reviews we had read.
We love the food, wine and the sommelier Nick. It's always an adventure in wine tasting and the pairing he suggests are perfect
We love this place
Uncle U's in Livermore is consistently great. The wine list is superb, the food is excellent (especially the barque sea bass) and the service is second to none. What more can you ask for.
Love dining at this ingredient eccentric, but never pretentious Livermore favorite.
We had a wonderful meal and excellent service. Always a great place to dine.
This location was easy to find as well ample parking. The sea bass puffs and crab cakes are excellent for starters. A Recommendation for an entree' would be the BBQ Sea Bass with soy beans & diced Zucchini although they should dice them a little larger. Overall my dining experience was pleasing and I will visit again.
We went for my wife's birthday. The quality of the food is way above average. The ambience is very upscale. Our waitress was excellent as well.
A great place to go for Asian cuisine. There are many standards on the menu, but you will find plenty interesting options as well.
I was surprised the prices are reasonable for such a upscale atmosphere.
The best service and great food. Michelle was our server and she went out of her way to make sure everything was great. The food is always consistent and pure quality.
It was really nice; great ambiance! Food was tasty - only ordered a few things. Will go back again.
A great dinner after attending Livermore Valley Opera performance! Thank you, Uncle Yu’s for sponsoring LVO!
Food was good. Plates are very dirty and old. Need to provide clean plates to customer.
Love everything about Uncle Yu’s. Our Singapore noodles were a little shy on curry this time, but highly recommended.
Went here with my colleagues because of rave reviews from other colleagues and hotel staff. Food was overpriced and mediocre at best. Service left a lot to be desired. Underwhelming experience overall. Go next door to Sauced instead!
This was my first visit, and we will definitely go back. We were a small group celebrating a birthday so I didn't have much time to peruse the menu, to I'm looking forward to my next dinner, and I'll update my review. My initial perception is a very good (varied) menu, nice ambiance, with moderate pricing. Any place you can get a very good entree for $24 and a nice glass of wine for $7.50 is a winner.
It was refreshing to find a page that offered Gluten Free Choices to one of the people in our party! That was appreciated. The food is always good, but it was a little odd to have so much sauce on the plate. I will have to remember that the next time to see if I can have less "squishy sauce". Overall, it was nice!
This is not your small Chinese restaurant "down the block". Beautifully decorated, Unbelievable wine list plus bar service.
Fantastic Chinese Cuisine with excellent quality ingredients.
The fish dish was tender and succulent. The Tea Duck was wonderful. The Bombas for dessert a real treat.
Absolutely fantastic. Service and food were on point.
Uncle Yus never lets you down!!! One of our favorite restaurants and Nick the owner is incredible along with all of the staff!!!
We have been going every year for the Chinese New Year (along with other times during the year) special menu which I highly recommend. It is creative and amazing!!!
Uncle you's you Rock!!!
Business dinner, great food! Will come back when I’m back in town.
Great food, great service. Will definitely be back!
A very nice lunch to celebrate multiple birthdays. The food was delicious.
We've been going to Uncle Yu's regularly for the last few years. We've found the food and service to be consistently excellent. There are many fine choices on the menu and we especially like the sweet and sour chicken. They offer brown rice in addition to white rice. They have a great wine list for those who enjoy a glass of wine with their meal. There is a gluten-free menu as well - we tried a flourless chocolate cake which was decadent and tasty. They are conveniently located near the Bankhead Theatre and the Livermore Cinemas. You might want to make a reservation on Open Table (go to Uncle Yu's website) as they can get quite busy even on weeknights. Please note that this review is referring to the Uncle Yu's in Livermore - hope you enjoy.
Review on Yelp too.
Very busy.... which is good for the owners.... bad for the diners
Even with reservations it took an hour to be seated and we were even nice about it
Vodka Cranberry with Grey Goose..... watered down..... can Grey Geese fly
Heavenly Manhattan...... no Martini glasses... terrible drink too. I Ski at Heavenly but will never order this drink again or visit Manhattan. They did promo this drink on the receipt.
Wrong food order brought to our table...... receipt shown as promo.... do you think the owners know.
The brown rice was terrible.... could have used it to mortar my bathroom tile..... the overflow server/ cook.... just smiled when we complained......where is ICE ......did I go too far
The waitress...... is that politically correct.... she probably got fired from Denny's last week
I have been to Uncle Yu's many times......its time to find a new go to restaurant in my City.
In all fairness the egg rolls are good, Lemon Chicken was OK, Spare ribs were really good.
We went for Valentine's dinner. Service was professional and cordial, but servers seemed a bit stressed, as if they were struggling to hide their irritation after a long day. Understandable, but not our fault, were just there to enjoy ourselves...Wonderful live string quartet. Nice ambiance. Adorable details at dinner, like the rose-shaped napkin and confetti hearts on the dessert. A bit loud, but fun. I loved the way the owner greeted us at the door. Fun place. Food was decent/good. It is Chinese fusion so the dishes are usually cooked with oil. Well cooked and tasty. Fortune cookies included !
We celebrated Valentine's Day with a lovely evening at Uncle Yu's at the Vineyard. The food was absolutely delicious (3 course menu), the wine selections varied and wonderful, and to add to the romantic atmosphere, there was a beautiful string quartet entertaining us all evening. Another fabulous occasion at Uncle Yu's.
Absolutely one of the finest dining experiences in Livermore. The Valentines Day five (5) course meal was terrific! It could not have been better!!!
Uncle Yu's is always a favorite restaurant. The food is delicious and service is good.
There were several tables available and we were directed to a smaller table for 4. I asked to sit in one of the available booths but was told they save those for larger groups but less than 10 minutes later they said a group of 4 there. Then at the end we provided 2 cards and asked for the bill to be split evenly. My card was a gift card for $100. They charged the entire $100 and the other couple we were with only had their credit card charged for $65. The other couple paid the tip but we were still charged more and I wasn’t going to ask them to give me money to even it up. Food was good but we were extremely crowded and had plates on top of plates. Very disappointing
very nice place. Service was excellent. Easy to find and free parking next door. Great food nicely presented.
Uncle Yu’s is a unique Asian fusion restaurant with a great variety of choices, both number of items and prices. Five of us went to dinner and the bills varied from $14 to $65 (mine with wine). They have a variety of soups from $5, entrees from $14-45, and a massive wine list. I want to return with my wife for the multiple course meal with wine pairings. All five of us loved our food!
Wonderful meal all around. The orange beef is fantastic! Service is great and restaurant is beautiful.
All the dishes we had were good. The orange peeled beef had a better flavor than our previous trip.
The food was simply delicious and the service non intrusive, friendly and just right.
Great service and excellent food. This is the only place we will get Chinese food
Love the new surprise menu!
