Uncle Yu's at the Vineyard
The food was not outstanding I have had better not enough to share with a group and too expensive.
We were wine tasting in Livermore and choose Uncle Yu's for lunch. We had reservations, but came about 15 minutes early. It took them about 15 minutes to seat us even though the place was fairly empty and the table we were given was empty when we walked in. Once seated they ignored us for another 15 minutes. Not a problem for us because we had a lot to talk about.
Now for the good part. The luncheon menu had a wide range of choices. We each chose a different main course and side dish so we could try everything. All of the food was very good. The dishes tasted fresh. The portions were large. Extensive wine list with descriptions that made pairing with individual entrees easy.
Great food and top notch wine list....if you are around during they day they also have a really great value lunch menu.
Love Uncle Yu's, been there many times and the food is great everytime. Particularly love the Lobster Shu Mai and the Bomba dessert!
Good food, nice ambiance but a little pricey for Chinese food. Always good though.
Had a birthday lunch for 6 people. Lunch menu was a very good value. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service was outstanding.
This was my second time at Uncle Yu’s. Loved it the first time I had gone! Great appetizers and very enjoyable cocktails. Went a second time for date night and our server was so friendly! Ha. A bigger meal and definitely left satisfied. A little pricey, but still worth the dine! Will go again.
Wonderful meal, never disappoints! Great, friendly service!
Best SeaBass ever, anywhere!
Food was bland, very loud group in the private room. Many diners unhappy
The tasting menu was definitely worth to try. The apptizer and second dish that came with it worthed every single penny. The regular menu has nothing special
Always great food and excellent service. Go there regularly and have never been disappointed.
dirty re-used table clothes, wrong check, just not very nice for date night.
I expected more. Cocktails were nice, though
Food was excellent. Service could have been a bit more polished. Overall had a great time and would be back.
Uncle Yu’s is my wife’s favorite Livermore restaurant, so we celebrated her birthday there with friends. After tasting each of the wines in the flight that she ordered, she realized they hadn’t brought her the correct flight. Our first three dishes were served to the table next to us, but when those diners noticed that they had been served food they didn’t order, the waiter moved the food to our table. Finally, after we had finished eating everything else that we ordered, the server brought out a final dish that they had forgotten to serve us.
Perhaps the staff was just distracted, but whatever the case, it was a bit disappointing.
We've visited Uncle Yu's many times and most of those times were for either a birthday or date night. This visit was for our anniversary and unfortunately, this visit was different.
We were seated promptly upon arrival and waited on soon after. And then things went downhill. Drinks arrived and food was ordered. A while later, the first appetizer arrived and about ten minutes later, the second appetizer arrived - even though they were ordered at the same time. Then, three of our dinners arrived and about ten minutes later, the fourth dinner arrived. When our drinks were refilled, they tasted like they had added an ounce of tea to a glass of water - they were supposed to be Arnold Palmers.
Now, on to one of the biggest disappointments of the night. Even after selecting "anniversary" in the reservation and adding the same in the notes, nothing was mentioned about our anniversary by the staff. No congratulations, no complimentary dessert, nothing. But, there were plenty of birthday candles and desserts that night. Not that we were expecting complimentary anything but since every single visit in the past did offer complimentary desserts for the occasion, then we felt a bit disappointed this time. Maybe policy changed to save money, not sure.
Note that this review says nothing about the food - because the food is always delicious and consistent.
Also, I would recommend that if you're seated to one of the tables towards the back by the kitchen that you request a different one. There was a lot of chatter back there with dishes being dried and boxed plus the noise level of the kitchen traffic made for a not-so romantic dinner date. Get a table on the right or middle, just stay away from the back.
Uncle Yu's never disappoints. As usual the food and service was excellent. The food is always fresh, tender, and tasty!
One of the best Chinese restaurants around. The food is very fresh. The Chicken salad is one of my favorites.
I food was quite good. Service was first rate. Wine selection well above many restaurants. Over all pleasurable experience.
Reserved as a Birthday and not acknowledged. Also mentioned it and not acknowledged. Disappointing for my son.
Upscale decor, soothing ambiance, with Jazz playing in the back ground, Top notch service. Very good food. A bit pricy. Got out the door with 1 glass of wine, 1 pot of tea, 3 main dishes before tip: $80.00
The settings are wonderful.
Ther service is very attentive, love the choice of wines by the glass.
The food is very fresh and hot.
Very accommodating and overall great. We had a guest with peanut ,tree nut, and dairy allergy and uncle Yu’s staff handled everything and accommodated our guest.
A very busy night, so service was a bit slower than usual.
Not to worry, once our order was placed the appetizer was on time as were the entries.
Every dish was outstanding, but my favorites remain Lotus Chicken and Prawns with Honey Glased Walnuts, melts in your mouth delicious!
Large party, was accommodated and had fast friendly service!
Every dish we ordered was excellent, especially the wagyu beef, the lettuce wraps, and honey walnut shrimp. The sorbet they brought to the two birthday people was equally delicious. Enjoyed the patio on a beautiful summer day.
Having stumbled upon this place due to show tickets across the street from it, I was very impressed with the exquisite service, food quality and ambiance of Uncle Yu's at the Vineyard restaurant in downtown Livermore. The menu and the wine list are extensive and the prices are quite reasonable. It is definitely a high caliber Asian fusion restaurant and I can't wait to go back there for its own sake and not just as a meal before or after a show.
Surprisingly great tasting food and very good service. Kid friendly and great for family gathering. Very accommodating. The custom prefixes menu is a good bargain to taste the variety options available. The salmon with pea pods were exceptional. The crispy chicken was very moist not heavily glazed.
The food was great and amazing selection.
Food took a long time, but usually is better/faster.
Always a great choice for lunch with friends. The lunch specials are varied, and there is usually something on the menu that appeals to everyone. Uncle Yu's is one of my favorite restaurants and a top Livermore choice!
We haven’t been to Uncle Yu’s in awhile. Decided to stop in for dinner before a concert. I will now be back often! I forgot what a great meal and service you get here. Highly recommend the tasting menu and with wine pairing! Lobster, Kobe beef excellent wine and great cocktails, can’t go wrong here.
We sat outside and the ambiance was amazing. Our server was great too!
We had a wonderful lunch at Uncle Yu’s. The entrees were delicious and the menu was extensive ensuring that everyone in your party will find something to their liking. We would highly recommend the Pumpkin Dumpling with Sea Scallops and Wild Shrimp appetizer as a special treat. This was my second visit to Uncle Yu’s and I’m sure that we will returning in the future.
Great service and good food
A real treat !
Service was bad and subtracted from a good experience.
Food is was mostly really good but they made a mistake on one of the plate and cooked the correct one last minute but it didn’t taste right. Also we got the all the plates in a 10 Minutes stretch so some people ate cold food (not counting the one they messed up )
The most disappointing thing was that we ordered flight of wine that is supposedly very good but the wine weren’t that great and the server did t know what they were also there is a table fee ? Lol
Shame that the prices go up and the portions get smaller. The non-associated Andy and Yu's is nicer but also just as pricey. Used to be able to get 6 potstickers in an order and they have since changed to 4. BBQ Pork Fried rice was decent, instead of getting char siu we got what looked like SPAM. Sweet and Sour chicken is always good but the portion sizes are terrible. Have to buy 2 of everything just to feed a family of 4. Less veggies and more chicken,
Sea Bass Puffs.... Hrngh... So good. I also love their dimsum options. The Lychee Magarita was good. A bit strong. The Goat Cheese won tons we're also very tasty. If come back just for the Sea Bass Puffs.
Great food and service with an amazing wine list. On the strip in Livermore where parking in the evening may be challenging but that is not the restaurant’s fault.
