Food and atmosphere was great. I believe we just ended up with either a new server or one that just didn't understand to visit the table more than twice. We never got a refill on our drinks. All of the other waiters were on point. I would go back but would make sure to sit with someone different. It can happen anywhere.
We have been Roswell residents for 22 years. This was our first visit after it was originally The Big Ketch. The food was good. Lamb lollipops were really good, rosemary can be too powerful and it was just the right amount. Artichoke appetizer was good too. I ordered the Octopus appetizer ($20) as my meal, with the server’s recommendation that is was the best octopus “she’s ever had.” The octopus had a great char but was very rubbery/ chewy - it was way overcooked. There was a lot of hummus on the plate too with the octopus which was too much. More romesco sauce and no hummus would have been better. Also, the dish was described as having capers and olives. There were five olives which was more than adequate; however, there were only/ exactly 3 capers. It was lackluster with hummus overpowering/ adding on a heaviness to something that should be a “light” Mediterranean dish. The short rib pasta was phenomenal. It was the star of the night (as well as a smoked old fashion). There was so much short rib meat that my husband ate all the egg noodles with meat in every bite and we had extra short rib to bring home for fun. Our server did suggest seafood dishes as her favorites; however, when we entered the restaurant we were so overwhelmed with a strong fish smell we did not want to order fish or crab out of alarm. Our experiences have taught us that “that” seafood smell leads to an upset tummy. Once we finished dinner our server was nowhere to be found, which was disappointing as everything started off great. We wanted to order some dessert and coffees/ aperitifs but were so turned off by having no service that we decided to get our check and head home. When we were looking around with the “can anybody help us” stare, another server (maybe busboy) was kind enough to acknowledge we needed some assistance and went and found our server for us. We will probably go back, but if the entrance smells like the Publix seafood counter the next time, then it will be our last time.
The entrance to the restaurant is beautiful, and the bar area looks fun. The rest was mediocre. Our service was fine. The food was hit or miss......not terrible, not great, but very overpriced for the quality, service, and ambiance. The tuna poke is excellent. My pasta was stuck together in overcooked clumps. My husbands short rib pasta tasted ok but the meat was so dry he couldn't eat it.
The menu overall is very heavy (the specialty is bacon with peanut butter and maple syrup, which should have been a clue!)
Maybe we'll try it again, but probably not. There are much better places to go to on Canton Street.
Awesome dinner—food delicious & vast menu of choices—can’t wait to return!
Tuna was bad…made guest ill after visiting. Didn’t look right when set on table. Asked server about it & they said it was ok
One if the best meals we've had in years!! Saw the restaurant feature on Atlanta Eats and decided we should try it out. Bacon and meatball apps, fresh pasta dish, salad, and the unsung hero - the corn brulee. Great cocktails and excellent service combine to make this a memorable trip. Strongly recommend a trip to anyone who hasn't been and we'll be going back over and over to try out everything on the menu!
1st time there but won't be our last!
The meat eaters loved the bacon and everyone enjoyed their respective dishes. Great service , portion size was enough for leftovers, and fabulously fresh ingredients and menu. Went for brunch, next time dinner!
Great outdoor seating. Nice wait staff. Delicious food.
This was our first visit to Uncle Jacks. We really enjoyed the food , the ambience and the service was great ! If your looking for a good steak and seafood place this is it!!
Everything was wonderful for the most part. Our server was attentive and very helpful. The food was really good as well. The only recommendation I would give is to have better Fries with the Sandwiches. I don’t know if they were left in the Grease too long or that’s how they usually come. Thank you so much for the Delicious Dessert as well.
We did not request a table at the bar but were seated at one. It was an elevated 4 top booth - not renovated from the previous restaurant - and somewhat cramped for 4 people. The area was incredibly noisy and people standing around the long table by the bar with drinks added to the cramped feel. Our waitress had a good personality, but was overwhelmed with the number of tables and forgot parts of orders and drinks. The food was lackluster - even the lobster Thermidor was nothing to write home about - and I wonder why they would have it on the menu anyway. The drinks were good, albeit slow service. We told the waitress we had two birthdays, but our dessert was delivered by someone else and when we asked for a candle, she was nice enough to bring a sparkler. Our waitress didn’t even notice. My company was great so it made the evening great, but it isn’t somewhere I would go back to. As my husband said - “the best part was the valet parking”.
Past reviews were not so favorable so I was reluctant. But we were presently surprised!
This is an excellent new location and great for date nights and family dinners. Careful, as the bill can get up there. Been there three times with three to four people and the bill ranged from $250 to $400.
Good experience. Too noisy. Great service. Great food.
Burgers were the best! Steak sandwiches were not the best. It was Alive in Roswell Thursday night so the kitchen was slow. We understood and had a great time on the lawn.
Food and service were FANTASTIC!!! Definitely a return engagement is on the horizon!!!
I haven’t written a review in years but this meal deserves one! I haven’t ooh’d and aah’d at a meal like that maybe ever? Everything was amazing. Everything our waitress Lana recommend was amazing. I could not stop MMMing the entire way through the meal. Incredible. Why did we wait so long to try it?! I cannot WAIT to go back.
Tried this restaurant for the first time and it is a beautiful space. Our server was good but when we asked for recommendations he just said they are known for their steaks and wasn’t too specific.
As an appetizer, we had the house maple bacon and it lived up to the hyped. I can’t say enough how good it was!
Most of our party started with salads and they were wonderful. I personally had the Caesar and it was light and fresh but huge! It could have been an entree in itself.
For dinner I had the lobster over saffron rice. The rice and roasted vegetables were good but lukewarm at best. The lobster was dry , especially the claw meat. It was a large portion that could have served two people.
I would go back but not often as the quality of the food does not match the high entree prices.
Average to below average steakhouse at best. Sides were ridiculously small. Steak was dry, even cooked at medium. At roughly 30% capacity, service was very slow and noise level very high. There are so many better options for a good steak in the Atlanta area.
Fantastic patio. Live music from next door was perfect. Our server was knowledgeable and very attentive.
The bacon appetizer is amazing and signature dish.
We had the steak sandwich which was absolutely delicious and has me craving it. The Asian salad was light and delicious.
I highly recommend and you must ask for patio dining. The atmosphere is perfect. Bring great friends!
Made a reservation for a birthday brunch. (The birthday part was ignored. Why bother asking if it’s a special occasion if you’re going to ignore it.) 5 people and only only one was delivered good food. The other folks’ meals were dry, overcooked. It also took 30 minutes just to get a mocktail and 40 minutes to get the food. We were not impressed at all. The best part of the experience was the valet parking. The guys doing that were kind, attentive, and fun.
The menu has some great choices - lots of variety. The experience for my friends birthday party of 6, was ruined due to poor service. It was not all that busy for a saturday night, but our waiter had a hard time paying attention to us. The food was ok, nothing special. My steak was cooked right, but mostly fat. Waters took 45 minutes to arrive. Drinks were not made correctly. Too bad.
Excellent service and food fast service
Great setting and comfortable night to sit outside. The place is clean, comfortable, and well done. Our first visit since to Uncle Jack's. The bacon appetizer was worthy of its reputation - outstanding. The rest of the meal was average at best. Friendly server but service was slow beginning with drinks and continued through the meal - slow with water refills, slow to replace cutlery, slow will bill presentation and completion. Ordered steak medium rare and was served medium well -- the restaurant did acknowledge.
We'll be back for another run. We equate this experience to lack of sufficient staff to cook and serve the meal. Staff serving us were friendly yet clearly new, inexperienced. As with so many industries, Jack's is serving a covid experience at pre-covid prices. That model won't result in a sustainable business. We hope this place succeeds. Substantard experience and we have a low bar. Again, we'll give it another run. No way this is what the proprietors envisioned.
The food is good but not worth the price. The bacon appetizer however was amazing..
Just so salty. We each got different things and were overwhelmed by the salt level. I also got a salad and it was so darn basic. Not what I expected for the price at all.
We recently moved into the Canton street neighborhood and decided to give Uncle Jack’s a try for my wife’s birthday. Bad decision.
After being seated at a nice booth outside we waited over 30 mins for our first round of drinks. Our waiter was a nice young man but clearly not a professional waiter. He apologized that the bar was backed up due to a private party.
We ordered oysters as an appetizer and loved them. We then ordered Caesar salads , filets ( one Oscar and one with lobster). The food took forever. The waiter never cleared our oyster plate nor our salad bowls. I mean never. I asked for a second glass of water and waited for over an hour to have the glass filled. We had to ask for steak knives and only received one we shared ( I mean good grief).
My filet was perfect medium well ( just pink). My wife’s medium came out well done. Her second steak came out completely charred on the outside and rare inside .
By this time, we were exhausted and I was embarrassed at the choice of Uncle Jack’s for my wife’s birthday.
Oh, one more thing, the outside music sound track is … annoying? Loud and no recognizable theme. Certainly not dinner music. But, that was the least of our disappointments.
Mr Kim McQuilken
Beautiful setting outside. Bacon appetizer was awesome!!! Our waiter Nick did a superb job.
Food was very pedestrian but the outside seating was pleasant. We would not go back.
Go here. Immediately. Stop reading this and go. Now. Order the bacon. Everything we had was awesome.
This was our second time going and we were just as impressed as the first time! Service was great, atmosphere was nice, and the food was FANTASTIC! Love the outdoor seating!
Was not what we expected. Looks beautiful and staff was friendly. But, we won’t return another time.
I Had heard great things about this restaurant but was very unimpressed.
We had a 7:30 reservation and they were already out of the Lobster Thermador which is what we went to get. And then they were out of our second choice! The Tagliolinj.
I settled for the Halibut which came over cooked and dry. The Risotta was also very dry. The Artichoke I was served was delicious though…I’ll give them that.
Perhaps they were having an off night but we will not be going back.
The food is excellent the service is excellent, We enjoyed an awesome fathers day dinner. This was our first time visiting this restaurant and we loved it. We definitely return.
Starting to become my favorite spot. I love the downtown Roswell vibe. Great location, food and service.
Food and service were good. Enjoyed it and will return again. Bar has a good vibe.
Incredibly slow service.
Everything our party ordered was excellent—bacon, tuna poke, strip steaks, halibut, scallops, creamed spinach, corn brulee, ice cream sandwiches and cocktails/wine/ice tea. We ate inside as it was very muggy outside and the noise level was moderate. Our server, Lana, was very helpful with our inquiries on what to order. We had a great evening and plan on returning!
Our server was great, food was good, and overall we had a very nice experience.
