Always impressive sushi, we love coming here every chance we get. There is always something new on the menu to try, but we have our favorite rolls too. Mango tango is the all time favorite.
It was amazing! We loved our server, Ryan, and we loved the food as always.
Great quality sashimi and presentation along with friendly staff
First time at this restaurant; knew of its excellent reputation. Service was very good, food was very good, the restaurant is comfortable. The only complaint is that it is pricey. When I say this, I don't merely mean that prices are high; it's the price/value relation that is off. While the food is quite good, they're a bit precious about it, presumably to justify the prices. So, while I'd recommend the restaurant for the quality of its food and its service, be prepared to spend a bit more than you probably should.
Drove from Dr Phillips to try this sushi restaurant on the recommendations of a friend. We were greeted by a friendly hostess who took us right to our table. Our waiter Jason was fabulous describing the food and specials. We had the lobster salad and it was delish!! I had the chirushi so much fresh fish seaweed rice and noodles. So yummy also had the edemane with garlic and lime. Loved this place and we will be back again soon!
Such a cute little spot in Winter Park. Ask what specials they have, the chef is very creative.
Very disappointed with the food and overall experience.
Great as usual.
Outside seating was not very nice. The tables are extremely close together. One chef came over to the table next to us and was causally goofing around with his friends for about 20 minutes during our dinner. The food was fine. The rolls aren’t big.
Even though we have a sushi place within walking distance from my house, we drive 40 minutes to eat at Umi! The Crunchy Titaki is our favorite dish but the sushi rolls are also excellent and fresh.
Lovely staff and delicious unique dishes. We like to dine at Umi because they have different twist in traditional Asian dishes. Ever wanted to try grilled octopus or squid, highly recommend trying it here.
We usually go here for sushi however the last time was a real turnoff. The usual sushi we get was very bland and tasteless. Seems like they changed owners or something.
My wife and I are regular diners at Umi and this visit did not disappoint. We were sorry to learn that our favorite server Melissa had left, but glad to learn she was done with school and pursing her career. Blake was our new server and we be a great successor to Melissa! As always, the ginger salad, miso soup, and sushi were outstanding. For the main course I had the shrimp tempura and my wife the crunchy tuna and both were great. For our money, Umi is the best Japanese restaurant in Central Florida.
Along with our guests, we all enjoyed an outstanding experience - from creative appetizers to the freshest sushi available as out entree. Our dining was enhanced by another great bottle of wine which we were guided to by Sommelier, Blake! OUTSTANDING! We will be back soon to enjoy the best Sushi in Central Florida!
Very fair .... sushi was ok and not very big portions for their high price.
We live in Winter Park and had out of town guests in for the Winter Park Art Festival. We had an overall wonderful experience. Everyone raved about the food ,service and atmosphere at Umi. We had cocktails at the bar before being seated. The bar was lively, but not over crowded. Umi has some very beautiful authentic Asian art which added to the enjoyment and atmosphere.
The service was impeccable ( we had the owner's lovely niece). Every entree served was wonderful. They even had green kimchi for St. Patty's Day. We eat here often and always like it. It was great to know our out of town guests enjoyed it as much as we do.
We enjoyed some of the new menu items and other recommendations from Blake. We were not disappointed at the wide range of great rolls and other unique culinary creations from the Chef! Truly a memorable meal made even better by the newly enhanced wine list! Thank you to the entire UMI family for working together to ensure such a memorable evening!
Have been wanting to try Umi Winter Park for some time now. Ambiance was real nice - spacious and attractive interior plus sidewalk tables always a plus. The menu was higher priced than I was expecting based on other top sushi locations in Central Florida - probably because of location on Park Ave.
We celebrated with dinner last week and were treated to an outstanding culinary experience once again. Sommelier Blake offered up an excellent suggestion as UMI has brought in a number of interesting new wines! Blake is outstanding and under his tutelage, Jared made sure everything was perfect throughout the night. Our special thanks to both for making our night special!
Great service,outstanding food!
My boyfriend and I had previously been here a few weeks ago, and while the food was amazing as always, the service was a little lacking. We agreed to give it another shot this past Saturday night and we are so glad we did! Hana was our server and she made sure we were well taken care of. She was very attentive and friendly, and helped make it a wonderful date night for us! The food was excellent and we had a wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!
Awesome, unique sushi choices. Had a fantastic server and would recommend the calamari
Food was awesome but to bad the service was horrible no food is worth it when the service is awful. I had to ask for water 2x, had to ask for soy sauce from hostess and then after sitting waiting for server to come back to pay bill after 30minutes I had to go inside and get hostess to help
It was our first time and we overall loved the place. Everything tasted fresh! The Truffle Oil Edamame was delish! The only thing that bothered me was I ordered a Roll that comes with Wagyu and I asked to not have it and they still charged me the same amount for the roll. We all know how expensive wagyu is but if they didn’t use it , the price should be different. Just my opinion.
We will be back tho!
The food here is incredible, but this is the second time my boyfriend and I have been here and the service is subpar at best. We had a 7:15 reservation and were seated immediately. However, no one came to take even our drink order for 20 minutes. We didn’t even have water on the table. The hostess came by after about 15 minutes to apologize and say that our server just got busy. Then when the server finally came by several minutes later he told us the hostess got confused. Either way, they did give us a free order of edamame which helped set the tone for a better dinner service.
At the end of the day, if you’re willing to be patient with the servers it’s worth coming here. The food is truly delicious but plan to spend at least 2 hours for a dinner for two.
Great authentic food, the Moriawase was excellent, Very knowledgeable and friendly servers, and a decent price point.
Once again, we enjoyed a fabulous evening! The new menu items are a must! Truly one of the very best culinary experiences in Winter Park!
Umi has recently changed up it's menu and it is now better than ever. Sommelier Blake gave us excellent culinary guidance and an outstanding wine recommendation. We have a consistently great experience at Umi and would encourage you to visit to enjoy the best Japanese/Sushi Restaurant in Central Florida!
Really not impressed. Fish was not properly trimmed - my piece of salmon had skin still on, hubby's mackerel did not have red portion trimmed off. Requested the lobster/crab roll but asked for the lobster to be grilled, not tempura. My roll was dry with little flavor. Overall a nice experience - friendly staff, but not impressed.
Excellent service and food delicious. We would definitely go again.
Fresh Sushi! And flavorful rolls.
Always an outstanding choice for fresh Sushi Umi will not disappoint. All the rolls are unique and very flavorable! The service is very attentive without being overbearing. My wife and I always enjoy spending a night out at Umi and we think it is the best Sushi restaurant in Orlando.
We had the pleasure of having Blake as our server and he was amazing! I hosted a small birthday lunch for my husband. Most of our guests had never been to Umi before. He was patient with them and answered all questions to their satisfaction. He even made us laugh a few times.
First visit to this restaurant and liked the decor and ambiance the hostess was very nice, but our waiter was distracted. We ordered green tea which was served warm and miso soup also served warm, the waiter forgot our appetizer, refills and didn’t mention desserts, the food was good tuna kobachi, Godzilla and umi roll. Kind of disappointing, probably won’t return there are too many other great sushi restaurants.
Appetizers were amazing. Quality and taste for main entrees (sushi rolls) were subpar. Quality lacked and the taste of the sushi was slightly off. Sushi flavors didn't blend well. Dessert menu wasn't offered and waitress barely stopped by to check on satisfaction of customers. I tried the 70% roll and the grilled cajun shrimp was more like steamed shrimp with barely any seasoning along with the shrimp itself was not present the same as advertised. Mango Tango roll had an odd combination in mixture (too sweet and something else). PBR roll was missing a speacial pick me up - possibly some spice and spicy kick to make the roll better. Raw fish was a little warmer than it should have been.
We love coming to Umi, the food is always excellent and there is usually something new to try on the menu. The service is always impeccable, they will take care of you like family.
Fantastic! Food was extremely fresh and service was spectacular!
We brought our friends with us this time and had another outstanding experience. Blake an the entire team looked after us and made sure we had an absolutely perfect meal. We enjoyed a number of staff suggestions, punctuated by the freshest, most artistic sushi rolls you will find anywhere. Umi has something for everyone, and now with an expanded wine list it has become our local favorite!
My wife and I are regular diners at Umi and look forward to our visits. We always ask to be served by Melissa and were pleased she was working. Once again Melissa provided exceptional service. The house ginger salad and miso soup were very good as always. Same for the nigiri selections and the sushi roll which we consider to be the best in Central Florida. Unfortunately, it was an off-night for our hot plates. I often order the short ribs but I don't recall it being served in the past over farro that I did not like. I should have looked more closely at the menu. My wife planned to order the chicken teriyaki but it was no longer on the menu. She ordered the shrimp tempura instead and did not like it- too heavy on the deep-fried grease and breading. However, we will consider this an off-night andwill plan to return soon.
Excelente experiencia, el sachimi de salmón fantástico, los short ribs , el roll de langosta y los tomates con beacon. Postre cream brule y helado de avocado. Lo mejor el servicio de Cole. Vamos a repetir
