We were seated upstairs, not in the den because we arrived early and we’re ready to eat. We were in full view of the chefs, servers, and waitstaff. It took a good 20 minutes for one to come over and take our order. Once the order was in the food came out really quickly and was delicious. We would have purchased more if the service had been better. It was awkward and we didn’t feel like hanging around

First time customer, but long time Sushi eater in LA and Seattle. Although the menu offers a variety of Asian or Asian-inspired cuisine, our dining focus was sushi. Quality of fish and presentation of rolls, nigiri, and sashimi was outstanding and on par with the best restaurants at which we have eaten. We also enjoyed the calamari with a delicate tempura batter instead of the heavier batter more common in Italian presentation. Attentive staff, craft cocktails and well represented wine list in terms of styles and price. What's not to love about Umi.

The server was great and food arrived quickly. The hostess was sick and kept coughing. She should have been sent home, so poor judgement on management. Being healthy should be top priority, especially on the heels of the Covid pandemic.

Disappointing. Sushi rolls appeared to have been previously made as they weren’t fresh. A bit unseemly to look out the window and see sushi chef spitting on the sidewalk while smoking a cigarette. Won’t go back unless returns to previous form.

Our first time here and wasn't sure what to expect. The staff and server were awesome, but the food was just meh. Got the Bento box, thinking that would give me a little sample of everything. The salmon was lost in the teriyaki sauce, the tempura was undercooked, the California roll tasted like something I'd get from the grocery store and the Las Vegas roll also did not taste fresh. My $30 meal ended up in the garbage. On to the next Japanese cuisine restaurant.

I love Umi! The food is very great tasting and Anastacio is a phenomenal server and leader there. He's always in great spirits and serves incredibly well. I would highly recommend Umi!

Our reservation was not ready for 30 minutes after we arrived on time. Then, as we sat down the waiter told us the kitchen was closing in 10 min. He then took our order and prior to the food being delivered he came back again to ask if you expected wanting anything else from the kitchen, because they were closing. Food was delivered by a runner, Never saw the waiter again. Food was good but the rest of the experience was so bad it ruined it for all 5 of us! Disappointing…

The food and service are excellent; however, despite requesting a quiet corner I found the noise level excessive in the “bar/den” area. The music was very loud and the other diners were having to speak even louder. I would have loved enjoying amazing sushi AND amazing conversation but it was difficult to hear my dining partners without yelling or leaning into the table. I will definitely be back but we will wait until the outside patio is open again.

The baked lobster roll is to die for. This place never disappoints. The atmosphere in the downstairs lounge is also perfect for quiet dates. Love it.

My seat was very close to the door and I had a baby with me. There were other tables available. I don’t know why they seated us there. Plus the sushi was bitter for some reason. I don’t know why. It was our anniversary so I wanted it to be more special.

Spokane's best sushi/sashimi, in my experience--and the equal of any in my former homes of Seattle and Honolulu. Larger than it appears, due to a large downstairs bar completely separate from the main restaurant. Reservations needed most evenings.
