Disappointed that we had to sit outside after I requested standard dining. The hostess should have had our table ready inside instead of us having to settle for outside.

Service was good. Chopped Salad left something to be desired - poor presentation and not all salad items listed on the menu were included, avocado was brown....not very appetizing!
Bathroom was not clean and smelled. Straw laying on restaurant floor. The experience was disappointing!

We had a lovely evening on the outside patio with friends. Although there was music, we were in the far back corner so we could still talk. We love the food and service here. Had a wonderful mahi-mahi special this time. Perfectly cooked.

I was with 5 people and everyone loved their dish. I had the salmon which was fabulous. The host was very inviting and the service was good. I will definitely go back.

In one word, disappointing. Dined here last year, during Opera season. Great food and service. This past Sunday the food was just OK with the exception of the sea bass. Presentation was sloppy, the chopped salad poorly made, pasta over or under cooked.
The restaurant itself appeared poorly kept, with dirty men's room. Our waiter tried his best, but was working at a disadvantage. Also, menu items were not available, on the weekend during Opera season?! We will not be returning for our next 2 performances.

We've enjoyed dinner at Umbrella's before but this time I made a point to check the weather, request table outside, and checked the brunch menu for vegetarian dishes. When we arrived we were put inside due to larger parties who requested outside and given a week day lunch menu with far less appealing choices for us. Our waiter Kyle was apologetic and very good but hostess was less than hospitible. Lunch (no brunch) was ok. We'll question trying it again!

Wanted to try somewhere new for Valentine’s Day so we came here. We were greeted at the door with hostility since they didn’t think we had a reservation. Out waitress had no idea what she was doing and every time we asked what the specials were she gave a different answer. She did recommended the Brussel Sprouts and those were the best part of the night. We ordered the Surf n Turf special and the Sea Bass special. The steak came out waay overdone and was tough, on a FILET? Was the worst steak I’ve had in a long time. The Sea bass special came out wrong without the scallops & shrimp, and the fish was a bit salty. Our waitress never came and checked on us after the food came out. Another employee came over to ask how it was and I told her my meal was wrong so they rushed out the missing scallops & shrimp for my plate which were both chewy and made as an afterthought to the entree. When we we’re finally done our waitress came over and we told her the issues. They took off only $20 on a $170 meal and never came back over to apologize. Horrible experience, I would NEVER recommend this place to anyone looking for good food or service.

We had a Valentine’s Day reservation at 8:15, we arrived at 8:15 and we were promptly offered a table for 2 a midst a deconstructed table for 6. Sadly, being sat on time, albeit at an awful cramped table was the highlight of our experience at umbrellas. After sitting for 20+ minutes, I was in the middle of scrambling to find another place to go when a waitress finally came for our drink order. She kept apologizing because all the tables outside came inside because of the rain. (You’re an indoor/outdoor restaurant, how do you not know how to handle that). 20 more minutes and our drinks came back, just horrendous. We ordered a lobster Mac and cheese for $18 and a lobster risotto for $27. Her lobster Mac and cheese was ok, nothing special, like kraft Mac and cheese with frozen lobster chunks mixed in. My lobster risotto was quite possibly the worst meal I’ve ever had at a restaurant. Was it edible? Yes. Did it taste good? No, I didn’t really taste like anything. The risotto was overcooked mush and mixed with frozen lobster bits. There were no seasonings of any kind in the risotto or the Mac and cheese. This wouldn’t have been too bad if there was salt and pepper on the table but there wasn’t and I had to go to the server station and grab the salt and pepper grinder myself because we never saw our server again til the end of the meal. Sadly salt and pepper did not help this meal at all. Bad food, bad service, bad drinks and poor management. Do not waste money at this restaurant.

We went on Valentine’s Day and knew it would be busy but it was a nightmare! We sat on the patio and it started raining, we asked for an umbrella but our waiter never helped. We had to go get one ourself and it was broken. Our food on the table was in water at this point. Everyone was running inside because we couldn’t get the umbrellas up. Once we got inside we had to sit ourselves and did not get waited on for over 40 mins. Reservations were at 7 and we finally left at 1025.

It was an extremely busy night so that really put the kitchen in a bad spot. But in the end we waited for 90 minutes for our dinner and the food wasn't great.

I wrote a review of this restaurant after we visited for a birthday celebration with 7 people in December. I had previously written about it after our first time there in November. The first time, we at outside, the next time we were on the first floor, and this time we were upstairs because it was too windy to eat outside. At this restaurant, outside dining would be my preference.

Our server was very pleasant and attentive. The food wasn’t quite as good as the last time, but we each ordered a different fish dish and the fish was very good. I must, however, write about the dessert because last time I raved about it and even posted a picture. My husband and I ordered the kahlua mousse (also ordered the last two times) anticipating the same delicious dessert I we had previously. What a disappointment! The dessert was totally different in taste and texture - formerly it was silky and rich in flavor with a cocoa color. What we had this time was light in color, bland and gritty - it tasted like a combination of Cool Whip and stale marshmallow fluff. The desserts are pricey, too! At $10, they are more expensive than other fine restaurants in the area. I have to rescind my previous recommendation for this dessert.

We will probably go back to Umbrellas at some point, but it’s not high on my “go to” list as it was when Scott was the chef. In fact, if this dessert was Scott’s creation and the new chef can’t duplicate it, I think it would be wise to take it off the menu. The third member of our party did like the Espresso pie.

Everything was great! We had requested an outside table but it was a bit too chilly, even with the outdoor heaters. Umbrellas 1926 moved us inside with a great table before we even had to ask! Thank you!

Very cool place. The baled feta appetizer was outstanding. They have a nice selection of cocktails and wines. Also a nice selection of entrees. The short ribs were very good. The espresso pie is outstanding. We will definitely come back again to try more entrees.

Food was delicious. Trout was served with a strawberry champagne sauce and I prefer it more savory but it was still very good. My husband got the sea bass and it was not only excellent, it was a generous serving. We finished the dinner with the hot donuts - a lovely, sweet treat. We look forward to going back to this restaurant. And it's even within walking distance to one of the theatres we attend and right next to the Opera House. What could be better!

We had excellent service from Sammy, including recommendations about the scallops. They WERE wonderful. Food was delicious and presented in a beautiful way. We like every room at Umbrellas, but each one gives you a different feeling and experience. As the weather gets warmer, we hope to enjoy a meal outside on their patio, which looks so pretty.

It was rainy, so we sat inside. We loved the atmosphere in the upstairs dining area. The music the night we were there was fantastic. The name of the band was Soul Fx. The burrata salad, risotto and fish and chips were very good. So was our waiter named Jaggar. This was our first time there and we were pleasantly surprised.

The only bright spot that night was the server/service; amiable, professional, accommodating, and pleasant. Overall, the food quality is best forgotten. The 9oz filet steak tasted dank and old, and actually reeked.... as though marinated in cesspool water. Can't fathom how something so atrocious could be served in a restaurant of this caliber?! This dish was replaced with Chicken Alfredo; it was not much better since it was served with undercooked chicken slices - some borderline raw in the center. The pork chop was not fresh, and ill-prepared (under cooked). and the salmon did not taste fresh and barely stayed on the plus side of "mediocre." Alas, the crab cake appetizer was very good, indeed; ample lump crab meat and very tasty. Ditto for the escargot, though the toasted french bread slices were stale (read: hard as a rock). The manager deleted the filet and Alfredo charges on our bill, and comped the slice of chocolate torte served to our birthday guest of honor. Too little, too late. {{ (when I was a manager, would have readily comped the entire meal (less alcoholic beverages), provided a written apology for serving food as bad as it was, and included in letter special pricing (serious discount) on a return visit)). So, the cited dishes were not just bad, they were a w f u l. Can't believe the cook would release food this abhorrent from the kitchen to serve to guests. " Bad night? Bad luck? Anomaly? Roll the dice.

Food was mediocre at best. Short ribs were 90% fat, NY strip special was a very poor cut of meat, lobster bolognese was the only decent item ordered.

Great location next to Opera House. Staff was attentive and eager to please. I downrated the service because they need to work on their timing. We all ordered a salad or appetizer to start with, to be followed by main courses. We had barely begun to eat our salads when the main courses arrived. It made us feel rushed, as we didn’t want the mains to get cold. We were told they cooked our main courses a little early because they had a ver large group coming and needed to be ready to handle their orders. That may be, but it’s not a reason to rush our meal. The mains were very good. 3 had Halibut and 1 had trout. The fish was excellent and portions quite large. I will certainly give the place another chance, but service needs some refinement.

This was our first time at Umbrellas, and it will definitely not be our last. It's a great gem if you are headed to any of the theaters in the area or just a night out. The menu is very unusual in a Great way and the food was delicious. We started with the brussel sprouts, a dish Not to be missed. One of us had the salmon chipotle, moist and delicious and the other the lamb rigatoni, also delicious. Do yourself a favor and try this resturant, you won't be sorry!

This was an epic failure of service and, perhaps, judgement. We had a 5pm reservation for dinner prior to a 7pm concert at the opera house next door. Our order for salads and entrees was taken around 5:30pm. After 6pm, informed by the manager that he was aware of the delay, we asked the waiter if we could have our salads, and some water. Finishing our salads by 6:15pm we asked for bread while we waited for our entrees. Exactly six two-inch pieces arrived, apparently sliced from a baguette, and one dish of butter. At 6:20pm we again spoke with the waiter and the manager, repeating our growing time pressure for the concert next door. At 6:30pm we decided that we could wait no longer. We never saw our entrees and at this point management had vanished. One member of our party stayed behind to pay for what we did consume. I note that the Impossible Burger is on the menu. The good news is that I was able to get one at Burger King on my way home. I cannot conceive of a reason to return to this place.

Terrible service for what should have been a nice Sunday brunch.
Ten minutes before we could flag down a waiter.
Bar took another 10 minutes for mimosas.
It was a half an hour before our orders were taken.
Then another 30 minutes for food to arrive, and one of our three orders came out completely wrong.
I watched two couples leave after only receiving water and never getting their food.
Clearly, this restauranteur is struggling with staffing and management issues.

I've always liked this venue. The food is OK, not great. The variety is limited for someone who would like a traditional dinner. I will return because again, I like the venue, but I wasn't over the moon about the food.
