Umaya elevates the typical 'beer garden' concept with hard-to-find Asian dishes. Our menu promotes friends, coworkers, family to enjoy their time together. We carry a wide array of Asian beer & Japanese Whiskey, complimenting the tranquility of the restaurant. The menu will feature seasonal highlights; however, the time-honored staples will always be available. ‘Umaya’ directly translates to a ‘place that tastes good’ in Japanese; it is a place where you can go
The service was fantastic. The food was amazing! I will be back the next time I am in DC.
The food was mediocre... I got the salmon salad and it was a weird assortment of random things haphazardly put together in a bowl. My friend got one of the rice bowl and it was ok. Service was fine I just wanted the food to be a nudge better.
Food was delicious and the waitress' help in choosing which sake to get was great
Overall a great experience. The place is a little noisy but it was a busy Saturday night. The food was excellent as was the service. The portions were generous without being excessive. I will definitely return.
Umaya is a great spot for a nice date night if you want somewhere quiet yet still very energetic in spirit.
Everything we ordered was AWESOME, from the ramen soup (pork belly, soy sauce) to the pork buns, the japanese fried rice to the sushi and maki rolls, we were not disappointed. Fresh and tasty!
The 2 person Omakase for $95 is a steal. Amazing- great quality fish.
I tried the autumn roll was like very delicious
The food was excellent. Good value for the money. Great for a fun and friendly gathering of friends but not a quiet romantic dinner.
Everyone in our party enjoyed all of our dishes, namely Japanese fried rice, sushi, tempura and the mushroom salad.
I tried the spicy miso ramen , it was so good
Great service and good food my favorite sushi place
The choices, choices, and more choices. This is more of a fusion restaurant so there are endless options. I was there for a late lunch so I sat at the bar. Decent wine selection and I wanted sashimi. So I had the tuna, salmon, and yellowtail. Very fresh. I looked through the menu and ordered the whole octopus and kimchi. I didn't think it was going to be as much as it was, but it was enough to share. Very flavorful. There were several others dishes that I want to try here from their noodle dishes to their fried rice. The service was good. I will be looking to get back here soon.
Tomatoes Ramen is so good
Umaya is consistently very good. I love the Japanese fried rice. It sounds boring, but they add shredded ginger and other favors that make it different from the average dish.
Amazing food and great service
Big room so plenty of tables, TVs at bar but not too loud that you can’t hear what people at your table are saying. Full menu from yakisoba, to ramen, sushi , etc.
Had the veggie ramen and ate every last drop. It was delicious! I'd definitely recommend.
Always a great experience here
Great experience, awesome staff... from the hostess to the Bartender that served us.
I had a good experience there but the backless bench is not for me.
Very cool place, wait staff was very friendly. Got the Takoyaki, which was so good. Sushi was fantastic - overall a great night
My friends and I decided to do a girls night out and we started our night at Umaya for dinner. Umaya was a great place to get started because the ambiance was perfect, it was lively, nice lighting, and had many choices of food and drink for each of us to choose from. When we arrived, we were seated right away at a cute corner table by all the windows. The wait staff were very attentive, friendly, and knowledgable about the menu and sake options. Our orders came out quickly and the presentation was beautiful. We ordered grilled pork and a variety of skewers: chicken, salmon, mushrooms, and beef tongue. We also ordered a few different sushi rolls, oysters, and my absolute favorite: salmon belly! As far as sake, we did some warm sake for sake bombs and a sparkling rose sake - must try. The food was well seasoned and cooked perfectly. I'll definitely be coming back!
This is a very expensive place for the quality of the sushi!
Great place for ramen and sushi the omakase will scare you but it worth the price with all the fish selection best decision I made
Excellent autumn sushi rolls
Best place for sushi I had the volcano roll and dinamite roll we’ll recommend also The short ribs always my favorite option on robata
Omakas is very good deals
Great sushi and robatayaki
Autum rolls very good !!
Awesome happy hour selection for both food and drinks!
The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the pricing reasonable. They have so much to choose from with nice generous portions. (Great for sharing) I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Amazing food and great service
Good food. Service a little slow
It’s probably my favorite Japanese restaurant in town!! Highly recommended.
Great meal! Omakase is the best way to go! For a party of 6, 3 omakase is perfect That’s only less than 50 per person and you get a TON of premium nigiri and sashimi plus miso soups! Victor was great, cocktails were superb! Amazing experience! Can’t wait to come back for date night next time. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Everything was great as always. Service was top notch.
Great service by our server, Alex. Ordered their wagyu large dish and it was butter in my mouth. A few specialty rolls and they were great. Just my go to place for any occasion.
Great experience, very satisfied!!
