We LOVE this place! So many great options for people who prefer to eat meat-less - and the food is 100% delicious!!!
We sat outside. Food was very good! Enjoyed the atmosphere as well.
Our group of 8 enjoyed a wonderful assortment of food and beverages. The prices were moderate, but the food was outstanding. I will go back to enjoy more kimchi brussels sprouts and impossible burgers.
Fantastic burgers. Great atmosphere. Recommend highly
Restaurant seemed understaffed at the time. But the waiter made up for it. He was very nice and accommodating
Great food. Loved the impossible burger. Great selection of drinks and a nice outdoor patio.
Great service, friendly staff, excellent food.
BEST vegan burger I've eaten. I will definitely come back.
Great service. Our burgers were over cooked and a few things on the menu weren't available.
Suprisingly good. everything we tried was excellent. I'm a burger fanatic and this is top ten in Chicago.
I haven't been in several months. My first experience with UMAMI was in Brooklyn, New York, and I had what I thought was one of the best burgers ever. I came to the Chicago location and was satisfied. Since then, the menu must have changed as I didn't have quite the same burger experience. Overall the meal was delicious. My party enjoyed themselves, and the service was just a little short of excellent. I would have liked a bit more attention to basic things like soft-drink refills, but beyond that, I'm sure I'll be back.
Not enough staff. Bartender was handling the bar and at least 10 tables. Food was good but took almost two hours for dinner. App came at same time as burgers. Tough night.
Umami has a menu that's pleasing to meat eaters and vegans and vegetarians as well.
Made a reservation to take my date because she's a vegetarian and had an appetite for a juicy impossible burger. We were so excited. We got there at 1pm on a Sunday and the waitress told us there were no impossible burgers. What a disappointment. Nothing for her to eat from the menu. Then they took forever to get the drinks. It was an overall bad experience.
Great appetizers and nice choice of beef burgers. No such burger as a veggie or turkey burger however. Thought that was odd. They did, however, have an ahi tuna burger that was absolutely wonderful!!!! Try the potato tots with cheese for sure. They were great.
Food took a while to come out but once out, very flavorful combinations!
I love the vegan burger options and the service is always good!
Average Fulton Market spot. Odd that mustard was no where to be seen at a burger place. Good food. A little too focused on the truffles for my taste (ie Truffle ketchup)
Food was unfavorable. But drinks were good
This place was fantastic. We went on a TravelZoo coupon - but we'll be back soon with or without a coupon! The menu was amazingly creative, with many non-meat and outright vegan "bun to bun" options. The bar was beautiful (backlit bottles) with a good selection of beers and unique cocktails. The ambiance was airy, open, nicely lit. The service was excellent. We ordered the Brussels sprouts as a starter and we've never had Brussels sprouts anywhere close to this delicious! The three of us all had different variations of the Impossible Burger (meatless) and they were all excellent. We also got sides of fries and onion rings that were top notch. We went to the West Loop location - which is a pretty nice neighborhood these days, with lots of new buildings - lots of apartments and shops and restaurants. Check out Umami - you won't be disappointed. (It wasn't open yet when we went, but they have a patio area outside in the back for the summer months).
Tasty tasty burger - full bar- can't wait to return
Wagyu burger was excellent and at $14 a good deal. Sadly our order of sweet potato fries came way after we all finished our burgers. Liked the fried but wish they came sooner. Impossible burgers were a Eurosong hit
Burgers were fantastic! Cooked to perfection and the flavor was outstanding. Service was a little slow, but everyone was VERY friendly! Would definitely go back to West Loop next time we are in Chicago.
The server was super accommodating for the birthday at the table and provided the right level of service for the event!
Not ideal for lunch (or any meal for that matter). Came here at noon for lunch on a Tuesday and waited over 45 mins for a burger and fries. No one around us had food for at least a half hour. I picked this place because they had the vegan "impossible" burger. It tasted ok, but I wouldn't come back for the food either. It was completely underwhelming. I've had better veggie burgers at many other places. We had to leave by 1pm and as soon as we got our food at 12:50 we had to inhale and immediately ask for the check. The bill was $50 for two burgers, 1 order of friends and 1 pop. I get that in the west loop you pay a premium but for that price and in that neighborhood, we expected a much faster/better level of service. Definitely not coming back.
The happy hour deals were very good and made the meal really fairly priced for a lot of food
Amazing food and great service. The impossible truffelmaker was the best vegan burger I've ever had
Umami Burger is a very sleek and modern restaurant with a wonderful staff. Our waitress was very kind and accommodating to our large group of 8. The restaurant is also pretty accommodating to vegan and vegetarian diners. The food tasted lovely and would gladly go again.
Great food! Everything very fresh and tasty.
The food was good. Nice to find several vegan options in the West Loop
Horrible experience here. It was a winter night, sat at a table literally touching the door encasement which was freezing. Service took forever, they were out of an item, they served me the wrong wine but it was so loud and had taken a long time to get in the first place, I didn't bother correcting it. Table next to us commented on their wait time for food as well. Will not return and do not recommend.
Good food. Pricey. Drinks are watered down. Appetizers and sides were good.
We came here for a quick dinner on Valentine's Day before our spa appointment - we had an hour which we thought would be more than enough time to grab a quick burger, we were wrong. Our burgers took over 45 minutes to come out, when they did come the bun was hard as a rock, the burger had a freezer smell in it. Overall you could just tell that the food was frozen, quickly cooked and brought out. I was SO disappointed with the time it took to make frozen burgers and just the overall quality of the food. Chicago has some amazing burger places, not even sure how this place is still in business. I have to say the service was good, our waitress was kind enough to comp our food and offer appetizers due to the long wait but I would have much rather paid for my meal and enjoyed it. Service gets a 5 star, food gets 1.
The menu has changed and the food quality and service was poor. I used to LOVE lithos place however, that was when I lived in downtown LA and the Wicker Park location in Chicago.
I was very ill the next day and a few hours after I ate there.
Fantastic food, dined around 6pm on a Saturday and the place was dead. Service was great but the place was uncomfortably quiet and not much ambience. Would come back for the food.
$14 Burgers come without a side at this place
SO GOOD and the service was amazing! Had a super nice waiter and would absolutely go back. recommending to everyone I know in the city!
Very good food but not thrilled about the value. Burgers don’t come with fries and fries seem pricey for the amount served. Pleasant atmosphere!
Bartender Mike is always excellent and right on top of everything, The staff, in general, is great. Only tip is to rotate your crafts a bit more and put together a more exciting tap list. You guys can be a hot spot for deep craft if you guys wanted it. Pairs nicely with the outstanding setlist of food you have!
Wish they would bring back the turkey burger and more burger options.
